Kris always knew how to go there and express what so few can, The Truth about Life Love from a depth few even know of in these cold times in which we now live.. we all have a road to walk w/a future and a past.. May Kris keep on walking and singing about this walk of Life that is both Beautiful and Deeper than most ever care to look to witness... Life a teacher that cant be replaced by anything.Kris has much to draw on from his life to express what He does so well,The Truth about this life.
@ThatGuyFromTN Youve got more traits of a troll , though I shouldnt of said hes a cunt as they are useful . The reason I was on this channel is I saw him on Johnny Cash vid wondered what he was doing on it thought id listen big mistake , anyway have a great life you well adjusted human ?
He sweats talent. Writing, music, acting. He is a cool son of a bitch, and this is an amazing song. Always been a Pearl Jam, Tool, Nine Inch Nails kinda cat, but I can respect any good music, and THIS is GOOD music.
The world's most enigmatic country performer. Almost uncategorised to me as a perfomer; but who cares when he's so good and goes for the deep emotions so well. Love it. Country is where it has always been at, no matter what anyone can say.
Kris Kristofferson is in the pantheon of great singer-songwriters, and not just country artists. His songs are direct and powerful; he has a talent for writing lyrics and music that appear simple on the surface but have a depth that becomes more apparent the more one listens. I love this man!
I love country music. Great concerts in my home town. Watseka Theatre Watseka Illinois has March 26, 2011 Darryl Worley, May 7 Bluegrass legend Tony Rice Unit, July 2 Marty Stuart.
What great lyrics. Seems to be about someone who is coming to the end of life's trail and looking back at what was. Very sad and moving. Kris we all hope your trail is a long long one! Another 100 years or so will just about do. What a poet.
Wow, what a great song. Just touches deep down in you. Had listened to it for the 7th time now before moving on and just wanted to comment on the song and the man. Oh, BTW, my favorite movie of Krist is Lone Star. Great movie. Sadly, not too many have seen it.
If you can, watch a movie on I believe HULU, Kristopherson and gene hackman, old flik called CISCO PIKE.....great movie. He truly is an american treasure. we are lucky to have his talent with us. too many are passing away as we go down the road.
Sorry about spelling but we're honestly dyslexic here. It takes a while to change things once they're up. Will try harder not to misspell and naturally no disrespect to Kris or any of his fans. Happy Christmas and Merry New year.
My husband and I have been together for 25 years. When we were dating Kris was one of the artists we listened to at the time, it is so nice to hear that the younger people enjoy and appreciate this music now.
I think this song is written for quite a few of us. It's been a long, hard, trying, and sad road to get where I am. Now, it's finally worth all the effort. Thanks and love to my wife and Lil B.
This song just hit me like a ton of bricks. I'm pushing 30 already? I thought I'd have accomplished something by now... God... I've been through too damn much...
When this man leaves us it will change our world for the worse. When I was a kid my dad used to play Kris in the truck all the time...I never understood why. Now that I'm the age my father was then, I more than understand why he played Kris all the time. Now I play Kris all the time too. God bless you Mr Kristofferson
i listen to mostly old rap like 2pac but i do love some of the older country like cash and krstofferson . music today dont have as much heart its all pop bullshit.
He has been good at everything he has done. I remember when I was young getting to sing with him in a lockerroom and he gets better with time. I remember he had great pacient with me and not only sang alot of his songs but also John Denver and others that I wanted to sing with him. A real star who isn't too big for his fans, a very easy person to know and like.
Senora bianca is right!!! There are still some Artist in this world left "they came allt the way from back then" where no intenet was etc..... nice music it´s making me feel it.
@dragonflychainsaw Yeah, I have to agree that Kris doesn't have the best voice and I have seen Johhny Cash do a better rendition of his songs. I also have to agree that he is one of the best writers in Country music. He is like Bob Dylan in a lot of ways
I love the music AND the vocal. It makes me imagine passing him on the street or by the railroad tracks and listening to him tell of his experiences and learning a great deal from his life and what he's sharing through his music. When I struggle with vocals I listen to it like a part of the sound and let it meld together. There is great songwriting here and in my opinion THAT is what modern music lacks. No amount of production or fret work will mask poor song-writing. This is good music.
@MrThickGloves ------today's music can't compare with a HOST of 50s & 60s singer/songwriters. The way the oldtimers' phrased things, so a lot of meaning was delivered in few words. Poetry set to music. The new"artists", & I use the term lightly probably don't know what poetry is. Not only are current lyrics lacking in originality but also the singing lacks passion. I guess you can't make others feel it if you've never felt it yourself.
@tswinburn1 I completely disagree with you. I love this kind of music, I also love a lot of new stuff. Now I don't mean most of the mainstream stuff, but a few years ago i was introduced by metal and found a lot of music that is on the level of this. I recommend that you listen to Avenged Sevenfold. Try their self-titled album as an introduction to them. I would also recommend Ozzy Osborne and Ronnie Dio (side note: do some research about these guys. You would be amazed at their depth.)
I think that what SenoraBianca said was right on. I can't wait to see him at Kent Stage. The music today is mostly crap. Not like Joni,Dylan etc. I like Lucinda Williams.
There was a time.. before popular radio, before MTV, before "American Idol", before the Grammy's and the glitz and glitter and the money.. when music and singing wasn't about technical ability or how "good" the voice was, but simply about loving music and wanting to connect with others and share that love. That's what this is.
@SenoraBianca That still exists, just stop listning to popular radio, MTV and watching American Idol and the Grammy's. It still exists in a big way just take the effort to look for it.
@SenoraBianca "And there used to be a way to stick it to the Man. It was called rock 'n roll, but guess what, oh no, the Man ruined that, too, with a little thing called MTV!"
@SenoraBianca you put it so well. It seems like music is now for the elite with no ability to touch or share all the feelings human beings experience on a daily basis. Nothing but sex and shaking the @ss.
@SenoraBianca Are you joking? There has always been glits and glamor involved with fame. There are always going to be people looking for the same things you appreciate in this song; it just might not sound the same way you'd expect it to. We've all had our times, we'll all have more down the road, its just a matter of learning to recognize things for what they are and not what we perceive them as. Look past the manifestations; realize the mystery.
Yeah music is not as good or real as it used to be it's too ego driven and shallow there are so few popular bands right now that I really like to listen to it's sad.
I've seen him twice in concert, generally speaking, he doesn't sing like "most" singers, but he has his own tone, his own style. I love this song, and he does it perfect. Others, well, who am I to make that judement. I know I'm flat in some vocal tones, but I can sing in five different vocal levels, striving for 8 lol ... won't happen anytime soon ..
Well Im sorry I have pissed u off,,,,,Im throwing in the towel, theres the white flag, I will go see about some singing lessons and return to my fetal position.
Ok looks like I struck a nerve, you keep telling yourself that he can sing,,, maybe someday you will actually beleive it! By the way we need to hook up and get ;you a BELL TONE! Can u hear me now?
I dont care if hes the president of the USA! pretty good actor, hell of a writer,,, But bottom line he cant sing for shit! I dont care if he owns the several homes and I dont care where there at! HE STILL CANT SING!
That is what's wrong with music today, everybody's so focused on the glamorized singing that is overloaded with studio effects that they don't even recognize what good music is when it's sitting right in front of them..kris kristofferson is a legend who didn't have to put on a show with his voice to get people's attention, he did it his own way writing his music and singing them how he wanted to, that is music, raw and untouched
Well, clearly what we have here is a difference in taste. It takes considerable talent to sing as strongly, as clearly, and as WELL as Mr. Kristofferson (I don't have the talent, and I doubt you do, seeing as you have spent a good amount of time engaging in flame wars on Youtube instead of being talented), but some people still prefer other sorts of music. I can respect that.
TO dowrap, Correction, Best Writer,Great Actor,Great Singer, Living Legend. What do you do for a living? Still living with your Mom? Kris has got houses all over the world ha!
i met him twice. he was such a gentleman! i was 15 at teh time (16 now) and i told him how much i loved him and his music. i told him that after i got an autograph and a pic with him. even after all that, when i told him how much he meant to me, he voluntarily shook my hand. such an awesome guy!
I cant really recall too many people that can just sit down and lay a track like this down without being overdubbed and canned this is music u can just take a deep breath to
love Kris ..but hes an admitted communist ....not a real American probably needs to just go away quick hell of a talent wasted on a walking contradiction....get outta heaaaaaaaaaaah
Can't get this out of my head...What a songwriter.
Rare is the one that can paint a picture with words and music.
Perhaps for the younger crowd it will make sense in the years yet to come but for today I will take another pull and reflect on what was, what was lost, what is yet to come and what will never be.
Kris, Hag, Marty, Willie, etc... the great story tellers of our musical world. They sang the sorrows and joys of a nation and its people, and the roughness in the voice is part of the beauty. These are the voices that have lived the highs and lows, and made it through. They attest to the strength of the human spirit.
to be fair neither are most performing singers out there....ever hear any of them without "voice dubbing" and studio editing? Crappy to be honest. These guys are raw and real...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
your great musician but a communist ...so your not an american ........hmmm you made millions here so send it home to cuba ,china ,russia .....where ever ...WALIKING CONTRADICTION....GET OUT YOUR NOT AMERICAN
"An alrightt singer"? "No worse than Cash"? Its sad how you can recognize spiritual royalty when you see it. Those people you mentioned made music what it is today. Not just country, but all music. Everybody from PDiddy to Pavarotti will tell you they love and respect Cash and Kristofferson for what they've given to music.
I love this Video of Kris so much. I picture myself walking along with kris and listening to him while he talks about his life. This man is truly one of a kind. I will always love him and not just for his music but for what he believes in. Peace, Freedom, Justice, and Mercy.
I Knew Mr. K for about 20 years, since I started watchin' movies like A Star is Born, and I love it ! I also love this song, but I think, maybe, I will love more 30 years from now. Aging gives you a different balance and mentality.
Kris always knew how to go there and express what so few can, The Truth about Life Love from a depth few even know of in these cold times in which we now live.. we all have a road to walk w/a future and a past.. Others, well, who am I to make that judement. I know I'm flat in some vocal tones, but I can sing in five different vocal levels, striving for 8 lol ... won't happen anytime soon ..

I can respect that.

i met him twice. he was such a gentleman! i was 15 at teh time (16 now) and i told him how much i loved him and his music. i told him that after i got an autograph and a pic with him. even after all that, when i told him how much he meant to me, he voluntarily shook my hand. such an awesome guy!

Krist Kristofferson has evolved into one of the elite song writers, musicians of his
generation and he is also a great humanitarian. Long live the living legend.
