I did not always feel indeared to robopets because some had a mean mode. They made robodogs that growled, cats that hissed. I can remember one whose LED eyes would turn from blue to red when it would growl, and it found that scary. Nice Video, by the way.
Furbies always scared the crap out of me. They would talk to each other in the middle of the night, and when you are 8 it is pretty terrifying AND somehow they manage to still work with dead batteries.

OH EM GEE I flipped out and forced my dad to take the batteries out at probably 2 am. He wasn't very happy with me.
Furbys are creepy! When I was in elementary school, a friend of mine told me that her Furby woke up in the middle of the night, said "Furby go party" (or something like that), and walked off of her dresser.
