  • Just saw this movie, wish I lived in the 80s so I could have grown up with things like this.

  • So far I can't find this movie's CD anywhere!

  • Yeah, every time I watch this movie it brings back the high school memories but it pisses me off too. Ampipe is leading by 4 points and Nickerson has them hand the ball off on their own 1-yard line in a driving rainstorm? What an idiot! Have the QB take the snap and run out of the back of the end zone for a safety. Give them 2 points, punt the ball out of there and it's over.

  • Tell Bosco I will see him around!!!!!!

  • Nickerson,you are not God!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Very good overlooked film I like this one better than some of his more popular movies. The father from Poltergeist is very good in it also.

  • Slap Shot is great but for me its Youngblood.

  • 80s high school and football, right here baby. This brings back the good ole days of kicking ass on the field and then getting laid later that night! Damn! How i wish i could go back in time for one night in my 77 Trans Am and party.

  • @trucker5933 wow..that comment gave me a hard on .lol..sadly i only got my ass constantly kicked on the football field, the 'getting laid later that night' part totally passed me by, unfortunately ;-(

  • One of favorite movies

  • one of Tom's better movies in my opinion.

  • This is my shit right here, love that damn movie. To me it's best football movie of all-time.

  • @ICETVScope better than The Replacements with Keanu Reeves! lol, just kidding.

  • Did you notice how pissed off his Bro was in this movie? I mean geez your liviving with Daddy and your working. Wish I could say the same. I'm working Thank God.

  • @singlechuck the brother got laid off. and he knew he was going to get laid off from the beginning. the city was doing layoffs and they knew they were next. that's why they he was pissed the whole movie.

  • PEOPLE STILL TRYING TO REPLICATE 80s TEEN CULTURE TO THIS DAY. LET THOSE OLD FOLKS KEEP THEIR TIME, AND STOP HIIJACKING OTHER GENERATIONS : )

NICE SONG. I USED TO WATCH THIS MOVIE ON TBS IN THE MID 90s

  • @NewWorldRob Isnt that the truth.

  • @noninous lol It is indeed

  • Try to repost this song - missing the first few notes.... Thx

  • @SDB1958

Yeah, there's a few beats missing

  • Your kid cost us the game.... BAM

  • I've always wanted to travel to Johnstown to see some of the sights from the movie. Any residents of J-town have any advice?

  • @ekimtoor Yes, buy a ticket elsewhere.

  • Where can I find the song?

I only get this gay song from One Republic..

  • wish there was a post of the song on the bus ride. it kicks ass!

nickerson! you are not god! you"re just a typing teacher! a high school typing teacher.

  • 6-2 stack monster! 6-2 stack monster!

  • We didnt quit! You quit!

  • filmed in my hometown, johnstown pennsylvania, and i played by high school games at the stadium the walnut heights game is shot at, johnstown's point stadium

  • @marty34156 cool. my Dad played for Wetmont Hilltoppers...then went to PENN STATE on a football scholarship. he said Ferndale was his rivalry...but my ole man is 85!!! so i doubt those schools still exist. what high schoo, did you go to? is westmont still there?

  • @quincee33

I went to Bishop McCort, and Westmont and Ferndale are both still there. But Ferndale is on the brink of closing, an neither of them have been good at football in well over a decade unfortunately. The powers in town are Bishop McCort and Johnstown High.

  • @marty34156 cool. You probably aren't familiar with Canadian football. But the best Wide Receiver in the CFL is from Johnstown. His name is Geroy Simon, he plays for the B.C. Lions in Vancouver. i think he went to Maryland. i live in Toronto so i came across this by accident. He's probably in his mid 30's by now, but he won CFL player of the year a few years ago. just thought i'd share that with you.

  • @quincee33

I'm very familiar with the CFL, and Simon in fact! Andrew Hawkins who played the last few season with Montreal went to my high school, as did his brother Artrell who had a long successful career with the Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots, and Andrew now plays for the Bengals. Also, John Stofa who was a quarterback at my high school back in the 70s played for the Miami Dolphins, Cincinnati Bengals, and in the CFL.

  • @marty34156 cool. i remember artrell..... last night the movie SLAP SHOT was on TV, another movie filmed in Johnstown.

  • @quincee33

Slap Shot is one of the best movies ever made. Period.

  • Incredible film 1983.

  • the good ole 80's tom cruise (-:

  • This movie was awesome! I saw it when I was in high school in a town called Beaverton Michigan. I went with friends and after we went out for pizza hut and cokes. remember when pizza hut was great and you could play pac man after high school games? I have this dvd and would recomend it to the kids that werent born when this flick came out. take a break from your hip hop and ipad and see this movie!

  • @MrKGor Yeah, this is as great movie and an under-rated movie no doubt. Tom Cruise was very convincing as a high school cornerback, you could tell that he really worked out and was serious about the movie role. The film reflected the depressed economic times of the early 1980s. It's relevant today to our depressed economic times. Could there be a remake? Seems like it would be a good fit for the times that we live in with the layoffs, the unemployment and the despair of the rustbelt region.

  • THE STEEL MILL IN THE BACKROUND WAS BETHLEHEM STEEL IN FRANKLIN BORO IN JOHNSTOWN PA IT IS NOW A SCRAP YARD

  • the steel mill in the backround is now a scrap yard it was bethlem steel in franklin boro in johnstown alot of people worked and gave thier lives to that company only to be sit on by bethlem steel

  • I feel bad for Salvucci. He fumbles the ball in his own end zone and Ampipe loses the game. They're never gonna beat those rich pricks.

  • Johnstown, PA----I'm a Wisconsin guy but I respect the blue-collar people of Pennsylvania. We're similar, we like football and a few beers in the tavern before and after the game.

Good luck to the Steelers and Nittany Lions---I respect your teams----but the Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers are on the verge of something special this 2010---"they say we're going to sink or swim, but we intend to fly".

  • 62 stack monster 62 stack monster, ready...break

  • Can someone please send me this song?

  • @MrTheSwampthing let me know if someone sends it i need it too haha

  • @billypax Haha. Will do my my friend. I used to have this song "via" limewire, but I don't anymore. Anyways, hope to get it back soon. If I do I will send it to you first thing. Take care.

  • Directed by Michael Chapman who had a scene as taxi driver in the last detail with Jack Nicholson. Director of photography Jan debont who then directed SPEED with Keanu Reeves.

  • You are not God, Nickerson!

  • @mustbenice96 You are not God, Nickerson! You are just a typewriting teacher.

  • Thanks for posting this timeless treasure of a song. I miss Jennifer's singing and music.

  • Great Movie !!!

  • A classic song! Thanks!

  • NICKERSON is a ASSHOLE!

  • He should have taken a knee against Walnut Heights.

  • @pghpaul He was in the endzone. It would have been a safety.

  • @meganmiyata Wouldnt have mattered. Ampipe was up 14-10 and it was the last play of the game. Nickerson blew it. Should have never gotten the job @ Cal Poly.

  • @pghbrandie You are so right. I Forgot that Ampipe was up by 4. I am glad they throw trash on his lawn. If Djordjevic would have went for the ball we wouldn't be in this position. Dam you Djordjevic

  • @pghpaul Walnut Heights had nice uniforms!

  • @pghpaul ... or take the safety, and then punt it out of there.

  • one of my favorite movies of all time , they dont make good movies like this anymore ,, too bad

  • I loved this movie. I remember NBC Nightly News sent a crew to do a story about the making of the movie and how it was bringing hope to the community.

for me, he is a actor, a very good actor, and not more.

  • i bought this movie at best buy for $5

  • Cool song! (Thank you, Jenny!) Dumb movie.

  • @phipsiguy1530 What was "dumb" about the film? Just curious.

  • what's the song name?

  • All The Right Moves

  • GO AMPIPE BULLDOGS!! :-p i do like this movie alot though.

  • Ah, yes...1983, when Tom Cruise was still plausibly heterosexual. LOL

  • @ugalawdog98 ...Allegedly

  • anyone know where i can download this soundtrack?

    thanks in advance.

  • love this song!

  • A classic song!!! Thanks for posting this song!

  • Blue-collar film.....they don't make films like this anymore.

    Johnstown, PA!!

  • They sure as hell don't which is sad. Everyone is a damned lawyer, or doctor, or actor or something to that effect these days.

  • That's true, hollywood doesn't make movies for blue collar people anymore even though their still the majority. That's because this generation of film makers doesn't know anything about that life. They all come from wealthy families and went to private schools, most of them at least. Blue collar people are now portrayed as being stupid ignorant racist soulless people with little or no value. People need to tell these people to fuck off. seriously.

  • @blechke i think i'm gonna put this on my facebook quotes.... as motivation to go against the norm. thx

  • @blechke great post man your damn right! i worked my ass off for everything i got in my life this was a great movie take care....

  • @blechke But ya are Blanche! Ya are!

  • @marc11864 rice and beans?

  • hollywood directors nowadays mostly come from wealthy families and don't know much about middle america. Blue collar people are usually portrayed as being stupid violent ignorant racists with no worth.

  • Born and raised in Johnstown!!

  • @marty34156 Shhhh, they'll hear ya.

  • tolles Lied! Kann man leider offenbar nirgends kaufen.

  • Man, this song and movie bring back memories of growing up in the 80s. I wish Tom hadn't gone of f the deep end, he was cool as hell in movies like ATRM, Top Gun, Risky Business, and Taps. Oh, the days.

  • toms a great actor and i used to love him but hes just turned into such a moron these last few years in everything he does

  • @shanefolan I agree with you!!!

  • I know of the NFL higlight reel you are speaking of, but no idea where to see it. It involved the hapless New Orleans Saints who were on the verge of making the playoffs back on in the '80's. But, alas, they didn't get it done!

  • Such a great song...brings back great, hopeful memories

  • Wow, I used to love this song. I have this on vinyl stored in my basement. I swear I need to invest in a turntable, some oldies are hard to find.

  • the film is brillant, great love scene in it

  • I agree, I knew literally 5 seconds into this film that it was good!

  • How can I get this music file?

  • I don't know, I've looked for it though

  • This is an excellent song

  • i believe Jennifer Warnes helped sing the theme of growing pains. Anyone else know ?

  • She did sing the song with BJ Thomas the last couple of seasons. BJ Thomas sung it solo for the first part of the series. There is a cool "Accapella" (sp?) version that they did for one show that I've always wanted a copy of.

  • I once saw an NFL highlight reel with this song as the soundtrack. I saw it only once, but because I love the song, I paid attention, and found it very inspiring. Anyone out there remember it or know where to see it?

  • awesome song!!! Wish Itunes had it to purchase. Itunes sucks!!!

  • where can it be purchased?

  • She also sang the Oscar-winning songs "Up Where We Belong" from "An Officer and a Gentleman" (with Joe Cocker) and "It Goes Like It Goes" from "Norma Rae." "(I've Had)the Time of My Life" was an Oscar winner, too.

  • This is a really good song. If I remember correctly the woman in this song also did that song for Dirty Dancing called "The Time of My Life".
