Thanks for the inforomative videos. I have a P-64 but I think I'd like a CZ 82 better. The P-64 shoots well but I don't like the grips. Aimsurplus is out of stock and I've heard that JG sales tend to over rate their guns condition. Can you reccomend any sources to aquire one of these? I'v called most local shops and they have none. Thanks in advance.
@Chrstnman thats what my stepbrother is pulling he failed 8 out of 9 classes so he doesnt get a pistol for christmas as he was planning. No one will be missing the abscence of a hi point c9 i assume anyways...
@148scalemodeling It's very well made, it's small, it's powerful for it's size, it's compact, it holds 12 or 13 rounds in the magazine, it's relatively inexpensive used if you can find it, it's collectible, it's reliable, it shoots well and accurately, it is unique in it's design (polygonal barrel). I could go on and on. Tell him he's not a real man unless he gets a CZ82 to add to the collection. u can always give him the money from your allowance and tell him to buy now for your 21st.
@148scalemodeling I'm going to go ahead and let you know a secret, I'm going to post the secret right here right now. CDNN SPORTS, they have an on line catalog. You can get this gun right now for $189 in good to very good condition. And you can get another mag for $29.00. They just sold out of all of the $169.00 average to good guns. So they might sell out fast on the $189.00. But like they said, they have the cheapest price in this country right now. So there you have it, order some.
Respond to this video... Really this is the best kept secret in hand guns in the United States. This little gun is incredible. Amazing. Everyone needs one in every room of the house for the moment when Pop Goes The Weasel cause the Weasel goes pop. $189 all day long and they got more. Where you might ask?
I want to thank you for all the info. I purchased a Nagant Pistol knowing confidently that I can shoot for many years to come. Based on your information. I also want to thank you for incouraging me to get my C&R FFL. It has opened up a whole new window in acquiring weapons.
Painted! No offense but that is a deal breaker for me. I may look into a CZ-83 and Reshape and reblue the ugly trigger guard. I saw a CZ-82 at a show and thought "What a cheesy looking gun!", looking back it had to be the paint. 9MM Mak vs .380 is another quandary for me, but realistically .380 is so much more common that it will be chosen, even though I reload with a progressive. One idea is remove the paint and blue it, much cheaper.
@partsproduction I get a gun not because of the finish but the functionality of the weapon. Hence, a rough finish means a lower price. Looks of a gun will not mean you can shoot it better. I can buy many handguns and refinish them to new standards and you will not be able to tell the difference. You like a nice finish and newer looking gun. I get the rougher finish and get less it at a lesser price. Plus, I finish it off with new professional coat and It cost less than buying "new"all together.
@runhorun I understand, to me a phosphate finish looks much better than paint and even an amateur can park a gun. I'm different in that all my guns have to look nice. If one is talking only about a carry gun, well, I carry a KelTec, plastic, and ugly as sin and I don't care, it's functional and if an overzealous cop who forgot his oath to the Constitution takes it, or if a truck runs over it, no big loss. The other 50 + handguns I own are nice looking, if stolen or scratched would bother me.
Thanks for this great video. Are you affiliated with Widener's Reloading & Shooting Supply Inc who is one of the two online sellers of CZ-82's and Walther P38's ?
@bobiscool308 The Makarov cartridge is just about right in between .380 and 9mm (a little closer to 9mm). .380 is a little smaller in diameter, and a little shorter. The 9 x 18mm round is the same diameter, but a little shorter. You can reload with trimmed-down 9mm cases (a lot easier to find than Makarov cases).
Good review, thanks. But would not wiping down the rear sights with charcoal fluid after you put the 2 white sight dots on it just smear them or wipe them off too?
Excellent review on an excellent pistol. The onlything you forgot to mention is that with the exception of the slide release the weapon is completely ampidextrous and the safety only works like a 1911 (cocked and locked)
The only advice for owners or potential buyers, is make sure you clean the weapon every other time (if not every time) you take it to the range. It tends to get rather dirty quickly and function tends to suffer. Clean it and your golden though.
Benjamin, Very professional and thorough review. I own and frequently shoot two CZ82s. You covered this weapon's features well -- recommend getting these to "new" shooters for price, ease of maintenance, accuracy, and relative low cost ammo. I've completely stripped down and rebuilt one of mine; not too easy but not rocket science either. This is truly a "best kept secret" and I've seen like new, with holster and 2-mags sell for $190 - $230 US range -- well worth it.
great vid, very straight forward. just a word on polyagonal rifling: glock, some sigs, H&K, the desert eagle, some berettas, and springfield xd (with exception to the xdm) all use polyaganol rifling
This gun is the best kept secret in the biz. No one where I live knows how accurate they are (doesn't know about them in general). My buddy has won many a pistol shoot with his. It's like taking a porsche to race a rambler...
Great pistol, CZ makes outstanding stuff. The only thing I don't like is that you can't use lead bullets in polygonal rifling. I shoot mostly lead through all my guns.
@tomterahedrob I don't know, thats what it would seem like. I think it has to do with the fact that poly rifling extrudes the bullet rather than cutting grooves in it. Perhaps really hard lead bullets would work. Knowledgeable people have told me that when you shoot lead through a poly barrel the fouling builds up quickly and rapidly raises pressures. I don't have pressure testing equipment so its a risk I can't take.
Great vid! Very affordable for the quality! Polygonal rifling is very accurate in this model. Glock, H&K, and I thought Magnum Research had some polygonal rifling model pistols too. The finish was chipped on mine, so I stripped it off. It's in the white and looks good. But unfortunately the slide release spring broke when I took it apart. n00b mistake. If you do a detailed strip of the pistol, that spring will shear off if the slide stop is forced :( But you probably already knew that. Great vid
I am sold GREAT PISTOL and BEAUTIFUL REVIEW and very informational I will be subscribing!
