The case of 'Ivan the Terrible' was somewhat different however because although J d M was striped of US citizenship for having lied on arrival as in this film he was not defended by his daughter but by a NY lawyer famous for his dilatory tactics..the Israelis has probably never seen anything like it before (as when Ed Fagan hit the scene ha ha) 'Ivan' even said very antisemetic things on the plane and even incriminating things...but he was the wrong man...they got their case wrong!

Brilliant movie loosely based on the John de Jamiuk case who was extradited to Israel to be tried as Ivan The Terrible who was a sadistic concentration camp guard . As it turned out the antropomorphic tests based on an identification card the Soviets provided a photocopy of were inconclusive and the eye witnesses were unreliable and to the credit of the Israeli court system (which has a lot to answer for) he was finally released on appeal. He was a guard but not the one they were after.
