  • Fallout Boy? LOL, no.

  • Dude if you do Daily reviews does that mean that you watch a fim every single day?

    Thats pretty sad...

  • haha, well I try to...but I usually don't. Watching a movie a day would be pretty awesome if you ask me...it's only 90mins-120mins of your entire day. lol movies rule!

  • the dance scene at the end of the movie is part of the movie. only if you listen carefully.

  • honey..the dance reflects the whole part of Inda and the culture. they love to dance!

Danny Boyle had 2nd thoughts on it because he didn't want his film to copy or be a bollywood movie and then he made a final decision to include a bollywood dance to make his film complete as he stated that he noticed that everyone there loves to dance & how much he enjoyed India so much.

    5/5!!!

  • it was because he told latika that he was going to dance and sing with her before the incident with the other child. remember? he was also singing and dancing and she laughed at him saying that he is a better singer than a dancer. this is the part everyone is forgetting.

  • I think they put in the dance number at the end because dance is reflective of India and Bollywood- ok it's not a bollywood film but it's representation of india, if not all of it- plus the song won best song at one of the movie awards.

  • I like the point you made about critics influencing the movies but I'm glad you like it on your own.

  • Aside from being an entertaining credit fill, the Bollywood dance numbers are essential to the culture and since the film was essentialy a clash of the different cultures not to mention that it was FILMED IN MUMBAI it is only right that they bring something from that culture If you do consider yourself an art lover I HIGHLY recommend that you take the time and see some Bollywood movies because they are part of an incredible phenomenon over there.

  • I honestly do not understand the hype surrounding the movie. Very, very average and banal story with hardly orginial quiz frame. I prayed for a train to squash the main character at the awful, very happy end.

very disappointed it won so many so important Oscars.

  • that's so funny you mention the train "squashing the main character" cuz I saw this film twice with two different people and they said in the back of their heads they couldn't help but think how funny it'd be if a train hit Jamal as he was crossing the track...cynical, cynical people HAHA

  • hehe, yup.

Oh man, would that be a great twist, followed by the bizarre dance sequence next to the corpse, it alone would make it worthy of an Oscar.

    ;D

  • oh and by the way. about the dance scene. there is a reason they put that scene in the movie. remember before salim tells his brother to come along to see mahanan, he tells latika that he'll be rich one day in a huge house with her and he'll sing and dance with her? thats why they put that scene in the end. which is something he did after becoming rich.

  • lol, so go and jerk off to the dark knight lol

  • errrm, I think I'll pass. But thanks for the suggestion and the casual 'lol's'!

  • i went in thinking it would be awful and walked out amazed

  • thanks for posting the review!

  • the dance number at the end of the movie pays homage to bollywood films as well as other things...

  • ... general day to day antics of the people living in the slums. It's just amazing and I completely love the O Saya song too.

Gorgeous film that makes you feel like you could go out and hug everybody around you.

    Great review!

  • Slumdog Millionaire is one of the best of 2008 and has one of the best soundtracks I think I've ever heard in any film. I loved the way it ended ... just made me smile so much. All films should end with a Bollywood dance, haha! I really enjoyed it. I didn't think it felt out of place or anything.

The scene near to the start when the children are running from the airfield is one of my favourite scenes ever. It's so full of life and colour and at the same time it's showing you the...

  • i was hoping this was gunna be up. i'm so curious about your opinion

  • well, there you go! LOL i actually think i'd give it a 5/5 now after seeing it twice...it's pretty effin' awesome and I think it SHOULD win Best Picture...although I'm bummed that The Wrestler wasn't nominated. Grrrr. lol

  • Bollywood has sh@t movies just as hollywood has, however their are some great Inidan movies. Slumdog has many aspects of old Indain movies. The brother thing has been done a million times. Boyle actually took a lot from Bollywood films like Satyam and Black Friday Gangsta movies. He points to these movies. Many commercial films come from Mumbai, however serious films come from regional areas and they are acclaimed. You cannot 'judge' something you know nothing about or by seeing one movie

  • *POSSIBLE SPOILERS*

Its not just a tribute to bollywood dance sequences, its a very key part of the plot. When they are young, he says "will you dance with me?", and this is that come to fruition.

  • yeah, i saw this again last night and TOTALLY realized that too! I take back everything I said about the dance sequence...it's perfect LOL

  • lmao i love the HONEST reviews....

yourvideo one was Great and your comment about taking everything back just brought me to laughter and tears coming down my eyes ( In a good way!)lol

  • Good review. The song at the end kind of give it a bollywood feeling when atlast both jamal and latika are joyfully dancing and since I know Hindi I do know that this song also expresses the love he has for latika. I really liked how they put ending credits.

  • thanks for d review

its not still released in india

if u think dat dance no was ill fitting, dont ever by mistake go to see a bollywood movie,u will come out fainted

our movies have sometimes 6 songs in a single 3 hr movie

  • the dance number was actually nice i thought it melded the west and the east film styles kind of like a tribute. i think the dance number would seem more weird to ppl in the us because of less world experience but for people from the uk ( target audience ) it wouldn't seem as strange if you know what i mean.

  • SPOILER ALERT - 5:05

  • bull shit 5/5 or 10/10 the movie is fantastic!!

dont miss out !its better in the theatere!

  • yeah, after thinking about it I would give it a 5/5 GO SEE IT!!! =)

  • 5/5 is a bit much....

  • The dance at the end was fitting, it is paying homage to the culture.

Saying that, I hate the dance scenes in indian movies, that is why I don't watch them... but in this movie, it was well placed... that is the only thing i disagree with you on.

  • to be honest, after really thinking about this film, the dance scene is very very fitting and i definitely agree with you and disagree with myself too! LOL

  • Thanks for the review!

  • I actually loved the dance sequence. Agree with everything else you said though.

  • Nice review!! i LOVED this film it was defenitly one of my favorites of 08.and i think it had a really nice soundtrack to it. great movie!

  • lmao. love how you incorporated fall out boy in the beginning. the album is amazing.

i dont understand why so many people like this movie. i couldnt get invested in it like other people have. i feel like i've seen it a thousand times. w/e though. thats just me. good review

  • yes, the album is absolutely incredible!

  • lolz - loved the mention too. and agreed

  • It is Bollywood. All Bollywood movies end in a dance number. They did this to give a nod to other Bollywood movies.

  • There is mainstream bollywood and not so mainstream bollywood (haha) and this film can actually pass as a "not so mainstream bollywood film". Bollywood isn't all about big dances and songs etc Just thought i'd add this thought lol

I agree with you on 2 points; 1) I thought the dance scene could have been better. The dance had nothing to do with the film just gd to watch over the credits

Even though I loved the film some people are over-selling it just because they probably feel that they hve to.

  • Durden85, you have reviewed this film most objectively. I am glad to see people having an unbiased opinion of things.

  • why, thank you! haha

  • HAHA

so true about the dance number i was like 'wtf is this'

  • I think u should mention who should watch and who should not watch. eg; my gay friends and people with personality like yours say that the movie is really good. however, my straight friends, fan of action movies, think that the movie was too gayish and dramatic

  • well, i will say this: I'm straight and LOVED it although, i will say the people that cannot appreciate the art of "films" shouldn't see it...definitely people that only see "action movies", will not enjoy it.

  • The dance sequence at the end was an homage to Bollywood films.

  • i know it was an homage to it...but it still felt out of place and random...because even though the film itself is talks about "Bombay" or now Mumbai, the film itself is nothing like a Bollywood film. There's just no hint of it, it just came outta left field for me.

  • it is bollywood....not typical bollywood, but def bollywood. the ending dance number is used as a metaphor to put emphasis on their finally finding each other. i think it is great! also, it wasn't part of the film, it was part of the credtis so it doesn't count thus you shouldn't really be considering it as part of your review.

  • Well, while they were kids at the singer/trainer guy they were talking on the stairs and hey says in Hindi "Will you dance with me" So they finally get their dance. I also think since it was in the credits it was used as a little Homage to Bollywood. But it being in the Credits wasn't worth calling it so much as random..

  • Loved that movie. The dancing at the end was just tribute to the bollywood movies. The host of the game show is a legend over there.
