Nooooo! Not the "Inane Flame" tactic! Encyclopedia Dramatica has taught me there is no way to win against such tactics, however, there is also no glory in victory for the user, which is my only satisfaction. In conclusion:
Amusing that France had to steal from another group of people in order to get it's "most beautiful" city. Classic french moral character. How satisfying.
The world has seen a lot more and even bigger atrocities than your mentioned German ones (holocaust etc.).......see the slaughtering of the bolchevistic regime under Stalin with approx 30 million killed people, the surpressing Briritsh regime in India with million of deads, too etc. etc. yet, the whole world is only focussing on the 3rd Reich !!
Unlike Poland Germany of nowadys is one of the least chauvinistic/nationalistist places on our planet. The world was successfull to eridicate even the natural German patriotism of the younger generation. The current population is lacking this patriotism to live a normal life without any imposed (by the world) "guilty complex".
The hisotry books are written by the winners and you are an evident victim of those publications. But repeating those falsications over and again wont lead to anything with historical substance.
You are right about WWII, though.....Germany did start it but the revanchistic and greedy Versailles dictate did pave the way for the Nazis and Hitler.
3. Russia wanted and especially the military cicrles wanted to make it an exemplary case for the aggressive aim of Pan-Slavism.
4.Austria-Hungary had to react in some harsh ways to the assassination in Sarajewo. How would have Russia reacted with the murder of the Tzar or Britian with an assassination of the Queen ?!? Settling the case in front pf the Hague Tribunal ?!? Dont think so as the nationalisitc ego would have been massively attacked......
Britain always opposed any one power that tries to gain hegemony in Europe like Louis X1V, Charles of Spain,Napoleon, the Kaiser, Hitler
The German claim that Britain was afraid of rising German commercial competetition is ridiculous because the USA was a much greater commercial threat to Britain than was little Germany
Pan-slavism?...what about Pan-Germanism?
In 1914 Germans ruled millions of Slavs but Slavs ruled no Germans.
The Czar had no choice but to mobilize because Austria had illegally annexed Bosnia-Hercegovina in 1908 because Russia was still weak from the Russo-Japan war. Russian public opinion would not accept another humiliation in the Balkans. The Czar tried to explain this fact to the Kaiser..but Wilhelm II wouldn't listen.
Austria had told the Italian govt. in 1913 that she wanted to attack Serbia in 1913 and dismember Serbia...giving its parts to Romania, Bulgaria, Albania.
I am not anti-German...but I do think it is very unhealthy for Germans to deny the holocaust or to refuse to accept responsibility for starting BOTH ww1 and ww2 because they then feel that they were victimized by the world...which is not the case.
If Germans learn about their history...they will understand why Germany today is just 65% of the size it was in 1914. They brought it all upon themselves. But the world forgave them a long time ago.
Well, you have the special tendency of having the last word ?!? Please, go ahead
then if you think that whoever has the last word wins the debate.....
The bottom line that we can agree to COMPLETELY disagree on almost every single topic. You have another historicaL perception of the world than I do !!
Germany did NOT start WW I I just want to emphasize.
LOL You deny the crimes of the red army against Germany. More Germans died in ww1 and 2 than the holohoax yet you pretend only Jews can be victims. What a crock of crap, it's so disgusting jews know they are wrong that's why they pretend to be impartial and neutral like you to deceive people. That's why you act racist to Japanese Nationalists, you are a liar when you say you are anti racist.
The truth is that population of Alsace-Lorrain at that era neither wanted to be a part of the German Empire nor be annexed by France. Tey the creation of an idependent Republic of Alsace-Lorraine......
One last remark: after 1920, the parties who were favoring autonomy or separatistic ways for Elsaß and Lothringen were getting the upper hand in ALL voting areas. I thought the populatoin back then was "all very pro-french" as you stated earlier. Something muist be wrong here with that clear contradiction. Politicians with that tendencies were thrown in priosn for their beliefs.
If France followed that pattern over 80% of the territory would have had German as official language.... !! ) Something the French could not dare to do. Ergo, they did forbid the use of German/Elsassich completely officially in front of the court, military etc..
Alsatian is not German...it is a Germanic language ..but so is Yiddish, English and Dutch.
Even amoungst people who speak the same language there is often no desire for unity...
The Americans speak English but broke away from England....the Dutch have no desire to be part of Germany...and neither do the German-speaking people of Switzerland.
French troops were welcomed into Alsace in November 1918...and the Zaberne affair indicates general animosity with Prussia.
It is not a Germanic language but it is a GERMAN dialect as Elssäsisch is categorized as Alemannisch and Lothringisch as Mosel-Fränkisch.The neighbouring regions of Germany (Baden, Saarland etc.) are speaking very similar dialects.....generally, the older generation can understand each other quite well whilst using these dialects !!
You are right, initially the French troops were welcomed by some parts of the population ( maybe even a majority) but then sobering up brought the population
Finally, I did forget to mention that Metz was an German-speaking city (approx. 70 %) surrounded by a predominantly French-speaking area. That is alos a big difference to your initial statement, eh ?!?
I have actually always been a germanophile...I even sympathized with Hitler's desire to reverse the unjust Versailles Treaty..
Then I educated myself by reading old books at internet archive...like on the Hague Tribunal, the Hague Peace Conventions of 1899 and 1907, the illegal annexation of Bosnia-hercegovina in violation of the Treaty of Berlin of 1878, the Govt. of the Second Reich, Kaiser Wilhelm II's old speeches, the Bryce commission report on German atrocities in Belgium in August 1914
Well, they dont have a choice left, today as the majority of the Elsassers are living in cultural denial or indeed are not able anymore to speak their mother tongue of EIGHT HOUNDRED CENTURIES....all eradicated by an aggressice and harsh assimilation policy of a few decades !!
It is sad but the Elsassers have lost their cultural indentity.Well, at least some are fighting still for an "Elsass Frei".
Be sure, Edward, in 1919 a the vote of a referendum would have been very split
( in favor of Germany, in favor of France or Independance). If the vast majority were all very French back then why France did not initiate a referendum to let legalize the territorial claims on Elsaß-Lothringen by the population ?!? Because they feared or at least were unsure about the outcome......
And about the current situation you said that the Elsassers CHOSE to speak French.
ah, ok, now you are showing your true colours ( we already did know, anways).....: In all national/Ethnical conflicts where the Reich was involved you are automatically are taking the side of the opponent !! That is "nice" pattern of history lecturing, dude !! Errrr, maybe a bit one-dimensional and ant-German orientated but still quite impressive !!
The French also smashed the short existence of Independent Republic of Elsaß-Lothingen that lasted for 11 days.
As I already did mention right from the beginning the government in Paris started to begin a very, very harsh plus also violent assimilation policy where the especially oppressed the German lnaguage and also separatistic tendencies. People à la Karl Ross were tried and put in jail for "treason" against France as he was speaking out loud for an INDEPENDENT Elsaß-Lothringen.
There was another reason alsace-Lorraine was given to France....to compensate France for the massive destruction to Northern France done by Germany.
Germany never paid much in reparations. Germany paid just 13% of the Versailles Treaty reparations...and most of that 13% was paid with American loans thru the dawes Plan and the Young Plan ...loans made to the Weimar republic that not one penny were ever paid back to USA.
Hitler used the money to rearm in violation of VT.
Ah, that does lead me to question thrn: Who was more eager and motivated to start WWI ?!? The prospering and unified Kaiserreich or the revanchistic French politicians who were crying for Elsaß-Lothringen to be re-annexed by "la grande nation".
The question of the proportion of guilt dealing with the start of WWI is a veray complexe one but Germany was not the main player to be hold responsible for it.
But I am certain on one issue: The revanchistic Versailles dictat paved the way for Hitler.
Very last response, as I have other things to, do, now:
1.Britain saw a military conflict as the solution to diminish the Power number one on the Continent with the Reich. The Kaiserreich from around 1895 was the strongest econimcal power in Europe.
And the politics of Britain always was to fight the strongest continental power (either France or Germany). The determination to defend Belgium´s neutrality was a pure pretext.
Although the French had a statue in Paris of Stasbourg ..and covered it with a black drapery to indicate "mourning"...the French accepted the loss of Alsace because:
1. Britain and Russia accepted that Alsace was now German.
2. France had 40 million people...Germany had 65 million people...so France could not win back Alsace on their own...and they knew that
3. France was more focused on their colonial empire than on Alsace
4. The Alsatian people did not want a war fought because of Alsace
In 1900, approx. 88-90% of the population has given German/Elsasserditsch as their mother tongue.German was forbidden to be taught in school or only as a foreigner language starting from the age of 12 !! Even your hatred Prussians werent that harsh on the linguistic question as in Elsaß-Lothringen the schools were mostly bilingual with German as the language number one. I guess that are the humanisitc values of the French 'Revolution and the Jacobins, right ?!?
The Germans did give them a constitution in 1911 but still they were not equal in status to the other 24 states like Bavaria, Saxony, Wurtemburg,etc....because there votes in the upper German house called the Bundesrat were still controlled by Prussia...which was controlled by the Prussian King.
Prussia feared that an Alsace in status equal to the other 24 German states would upset the balance of power in the Bundesrat because Prussia had 17 votes out of 50 something...and Alsace had 3 votes
This Elsaaser constitution was quite progressive for its time and even did guarentee the linguistic rights of French-speaking people.Something the chauvinistic Jacobins were never be able to on their standing arrogantly on their high podium. They were oppressing the German lamguage plus Elsassisch from the very beginning as the reannexed Elsaß-Lothringen in 1919.Children were beaten in school for speaking German/Elsasserditsch.
Besides, dont forget, in the process of being a part of the Kaiserreich Elsaß-Lothringen was prospering quite successfully so that at the end of the 1871-1919 era a majority was voting in favor of established German parties instead of autonomist or especially pro-French parties ( they had percentage of like 3 to 4 % !! ). In 1911, Elsaß-Lothringen did get an own constitution with some profound autonomist elements.
Plus, your remark that population of Elsaß was electing men to the Reichstag who were opposing to be a part of the German Empire is not correct either. In the beginning after 1871 the population was indeed voting for parties who were pro-AUTONOMISTE !! But what does that mean ?!? That especially does not mean that they wnated to be reannexed by France.....their aim was an INDEPENDENT Elsaß-Lothringen.....another substantial difference to your reamrk made, right ?!?
Well, we are focusing on Elsaß-Lothringen here. If you consider the measures of the 2nd Reich as a "Germanization" policy then you must categorize the French measures not to oppress but to ERADICATE the German language as murderous....where children were beaten in school for using their mother tongue (Elsassisch). At least, French was official language in areas where a majority of people were using it as their mother tongue.
Thirdly, Elsassisch is evidently not the Standard German but to categorize it properly it 100 % belongs the GERMANIC languages as a German / Alemannic dialect. The Elsassers were referring to it
Dude, I dont even know where to begin with that almost all of your "facts" plus "evidence" is either or simply falsification of history.
First off, your beloved Marseillaise was not written by a man FROM Straßburg but by a man who was residing in Straßburg whilst writing it.....huge difference.....this man was not an Elsasser. And that was in 1792 where the old German Reichsstadt of Straßburg was about to be annexed by France for the first time in history.
But what can you expect from the current Elsaß population who are building MONUMENTS for fanatical chauvinistic racist plus xenophobe "heroes" à la jean-jacues waltz ?!? They even lecture his books in school to infiltrate the little children with notorious German hatred.
Amanda, also look up Karl Roos and Gabriel Andres...maybe you already know about their fate already.
Yeah, so, right, the french get away with everything....incroyable !!
Alsace never liked being in the German Empire...that's why they kept re-electing men to the Reichstag who were opposed to the annexation...that's also why they had the famous Zabern incident.
Abbe weterle was from colmar and he was very opposed to the annexation...he wrote a book called "Behind the Scenes in the Reichstage"...available at internet archive for free PDF download.
Of the 16 men elected by Alsace to the Reichstag...15 were opposed to the annexation.
Sometimes I can be a little foul-mouthed? Wow, you're just noticing this? HOW long have you been deliberately bothering my friends and I again? Methinks you're a bit slow on the uptake.
You ALWAYS comment on stuff relating to Germany's lost lands. I didn't say you were specifically replying to me, but I knew you'd rear your head here eventually.
And you never give any details that say anything new. All the "evidence" you've given us merely says that Elsassers are Pro-French. We ALREADY know that!
We are annoyed with their reasoning and mindset.
I respect the Poles, who refused to let their culture and language be stamped out, and who never lost their desire for independence, far more than I respect Elsassers like Sirupeuse.
Thankfully, I know that not all Elsassers are French ass-lickers. Too bad those who aren't are marginalized.
Edward, please refrain from adding further lunatic barely decipherable ramblings here. You are making up a list of so-called "facts" and then based upon those "facts you become set on the assumption that population during the era of Elsaß-Lothringen as part of the 2nd Reich were "all very pro-French" and thta "of course Metz in Lorraine" was "always pro-French and French speaking and what takes the cake is your presented "fact" that Alsatian is not German.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
NON !!!!!!
(my french is not good enough to say that) I was there with my class and i love this city. the mix of french and german history. ...french people...lets never fight again! Go for EUrope!!!
I am so sick of bringing in political crap to these videos, we dont need it here take it elsewhere. The majority of us only want to enjoy the scenery, that's why we are here. NICE VID =)

Amusing that France had to steal from another group of people in order to get it's "most beautiful" city. Classic french moral character. How satisfying.

Unlike Poland Germany of nowadys is one of the least chauvinistic/nationalistist places on our planet. The world was successfull to eridicate even the natural German patriotism of the younger generation. The current population is lacking this patriotism to live a normal life without any imposed (by the world) "guilty complex".
kernerschreiber13 2 years ago

Dont think so as the nationalisitc ego would have been massively attacked......
kernerschreiber13 2 years ago
Britain always opposed any one power that tries to gain hegemony in Europe like Louis X1V, Charles of Spain,Napoleon, the Kaiser, Hitler
The German claim that Britain was afraid of rising German commercial competetition is ridiculous because the USA was a much greater commercial threat to Britain than was little Germany
Pan-slavism?...what about Pan-Germanism?
In 1914 Germans ruled millions of Slavs but Slavs ruled no Germans.
So who was the occupied and who was the occupier?
EdwardRommel 2 years ago
The Czar had no choice but to mobilize because Austria had illegally annexed Bosnia-Hercegovina in 1908 because Russia was still weak from the Russo-Japan war. Russian public opinion would not accept another humiliation in the Balkans. The Czar tried to explain this fact to the Kaiser..but Wilhelm II wouldn't listen.
Austria had told the Italian govt. in 1913 that she wanted to attack Serbia in 1913 and dismember Serbia...giving its parts to Romania, Bulgaria, Albania.
Russia knew this.
EdwardRommel 2 years ago
I am not anti-German...but I do think it is very unhealthy for Germans to deny the holocaust or to refuse to accept responsibility for starting BOTH ww1 and ww2 because they then feel that they were victimized by the world...which is not the case.
If Germans learn about their history...they will understand why Germany today is just 65% of the size it was in 1914. They brought it all upon themselves. But the world forgave them a long time ago.
EdwardRommel 2 years ago
Well, you have the special tendency of having the last word ?!? Please, go ahead
then if you think that whoever has the last word wins the debate.....
The bottom line that we can agree to COMPLETELY disagree on almost every single topic. You have another historicaL perception of the world than I do !!
Germany did NOT start WW I I just want to emphasize.

That's why you act racist to Japanese Nationalists, you are a liar when you say you are anti racist.

and the reality back to Earth so to speak.
I already did mention in 1920, ALL voting areas were voting in favor of a strong autonomy or separation from France !!
kernerschreiber13 2 years ago
The truth is that population of Alsace-Lorrain at that era neither wanted to be a part of the German Empire nor be annexed by France. Tey the creation of an idependent Republic of Alsace-Lorraine......
kernerschreiber13 2 years ago
One last remark: after 1920, the parties who were favoring autonomy or separatistic ways for Elsaß and Lothringen were getting the upper hand in ALL voting areas. I thought the populatoin back then was "all very pro-french" as you stated earlier. Something muist be wrong here with that clear contradiction. Politicians with that tendencies were thrown in priosn for their beliefs.
kernerschreiber13 2 years ago
If France followed that pattern over 80% of the territory would have had German as official language.... !! ) Something the French could not dare to do. Ergo, they did forbid the use of German/Elsassich completely officially in front of the court, military etc..
kernerschreiber13 2 years ago
Alsatian is not German...it is a Germanic language ..but so is Yiddish, English and Dutch.
Even amoungst people who speak the same language there is often no desire for unity...
The Americans speak English but broke away from England....the Dutch have no desire to be part of Germany...and neither do the German-speaking people of Switzerland.
French troops were welcomed into Alsace in November 1918...and the Zaberne affair indicates general animosity with Prussia.
EdwardRommel 2 years ago
It is not a Germanic language but it is a GERMAN dialect as Elssäsisch is categorized as Alemannisch and Lothringisch as Mosel-Fränkisch.The neighbouring regions of Germany (Baden, Saarland etc.) are speaking very similar dialects.....generally, the older generation can understand each other quite well whilst using these dialects !!
You are right, initially the French troops were welcomed by some parts of the population ( maybe even a majority) but then sobering up brought the population
kernerschreiber13 2 years ago
Finally, I did forget to mention that Metz was an German-speaking city (approx. 70 %) surrounded by a predominantly French-speaking area. That is alos a big difference to your initial statement, eh ?!?
kernerschreiber13 2 years ago
I guess you are infiltrated with notorious German hatred yourself. But be aware it is eating you up alive, dude........
kernerschreiber13 2 years ago
I have actually always been a germanophile...I even sympathized with Hitler's desire to reverse the unjust Versailles Treaty..
Then I educated myself by reading old books at internet archive...like on the Hague Tribunal, the Hague Peace Conventions of 1899 and 1907, the illegal annexation of Bosnia-hercegovina in violation of the Treaty of Berlin of 1878, the Govt. of the Second Reich, Kaiser Wilhelm II's old speeches, the Bryce commission report on German atrocities in Belgium in August 1914
EdwardRommel 2 years ago
Well, they dont have a choice left, today as the majority of the Elsassers are living in cultural denial or indeed are not able anymore to speak their mother tongue of EIGHT HOUNDRED CENTURIES....all eradicated by an aggressice and harsh assimilation policy of a few decades !!
It is sad but the Elsassers have lost their cultural indentity.Well, at least some are fighting still for an "Elsass Frei".
Why do you care, anyways as a Pole, Edward ?!?
kernerschreiber13 2 years ago
Be sure, Edward, in 1919 a the vote of a referendum would have been very split
( in favor of Germany, in favor of France or Independance). If the vast majority were all very French back then why France did not initiate a referendum to let legalize the territorial claims on Elsaß-Lothringen by the population ?!? Because they feared or at least were unsure about the outcome......
And about the current situation you said that the Elsassers CHOSE to speak French.
kernerschreiber13 2 years ago
During the Versailles Treaty negotitations there was talk of having a plebiscite in Alsace but the French objected on the grounds that
1. about 500,000 French had fled Alsace after the 1871 annexation.
2. about 700,000 German settlers had moved into Alsace as part of Bismarck's germanization of Alsace.
The French therefore felt that an accurate and fair plebiscite was impossible.
The German Empire restricted the use of Danish in N Schleswig, Polish in Prussia, and French in Alsace.
EdwardRommel 2 years ago
ah, ok, now you are showing your true colours ( we already did know, anways).....: In all national/Ethnical conflicts where the Reich was involved you are automatically are taking the side of the opponent !! That is "nice" pattern of history lecturing, dude !! Errrr, maybe a bit one-dimensional and ant-German orientated but still quite impressive !!
kernerschreiber13 2 years ago
The French also smashed the short existence of Independent Republic of Elsaß-Lothingen that lasted for 11 days.
As I already did mention right from the beginning the government in Paris started to begin a very, very harsh plus also violent assimilation policy where the especially oppressed the German lnaguage and also separatistic tendencies. People à la Karl Ross were tried and put in jail for "treason" against France as he was speaking out loud for an INDEPENDENT Elsaß-Lothringen.
kernerschreiber13 2 years ago
There was another reason alsace-Lorraine was given to France....to compensate France for the massive destruction to Northern France done by Germany.
Germany never paid much in reparations. Germany paid just 13% of the Versailles Treaty reparations...and most of that 13% was paid with American loans thru the dawes Plan and the Young Plan ...loans made to the Weimar republic that not one penny were ever paid back to USA.
Hitler used the money to rearm in violation of VT.
EdwardRommel 2 years ago
Ah, that does lead me to question thrn: Who was more eager and motivated to start WWI ?!? The prospering and unified Kaiserreich or the revanchistic French politicians who were crying for Elsaß-Lothringen to be re-annexed by "la grande nation".
The question of the proportion of guilt dealing with the start of WWI is a veray complexe one but Germany was not the main player to be hold responsible for it.
But I am certain on one issue: The revanchistic Versailles dictat paved the way for Hitler.
kernerschreiber13 2 years ago
Germany is solely responsible for starting WW1 because
1. Germany had power to control Austria
2. Germany and Austria refused to take the Austrian Ultimatum crisis to the Hague Tribunal as Russia and Serbia requested.
3. Germany and Austria refused to have a 4 power conference as Britain suggested.
4. Russia had a legal right to mobilize under International law.
5. By violating Belgian neutrality, Germany declared war on Belgium, France and Britain and Russia.
EdwardRommel 2 years ago
Very last response, as I have other things to, do, now:
1.Britain saw a military conflict as the solution to diminish the Power number one on the Continent with the Reich. The Kaiserreich from around 1895 was the strongest econimcal power in Europe.
And the politics of Britain always was to fight the strongest continental power (either France or Germany). The determination to defend Belgium´s neutrality was a pure pretext.
2.France wanted revanche for 1870/71.
kernerschreiber13 2 years ago
Although the French had a statue in Paris of Stasbourg ..and covered it with a black drapery to indicate "mourning"...the French accepted the loss of Alsace because:
1. Britain and Russia accepted that Alsace was now German.
2. France had 40 million people...Germany had 65 million people...so France could not win back Alsace on their own...and they knew that
3. France was more focused on their colonial empire than on Alsace
4. The Alsatian people did not want a war fought because of Alsace
EdwardRommel 2 years ago
In 1900, approx. 88-90% of the population has given German/Elsasserditsch as their mother tongue.German was forbidden to be taught in school or only as a foreigner language starting from the age of 12 !! Even your hatred Prussians werent that harsh on the linguistic question as in Elsaß-Lothringen the schools were mostly bilingual with German as the language number one. I guess that are the humanisitc values of the French 'Revolution and the Jacobins, right ?!?
kernerschreiber13 2 years ago
The Germans did give them a constitution in 1911 but still they were not equal in status to the other 24 states like Bavaria, Saxony, Wurtemburg,etc....because there votes in the upper German house called the Bundesrat were still controlled by Prussia...which was controlled by the Prussian King.
Prussia feared that an Alsace in status equal to the other 24 German states would upset the balance of power in the Bundesrat because Prussia had 17 votes out of 50 something...and Alsace had 3 votes
EdwardRommel 2 years ago
This Elsaaser constitution was quite progressive for its time and even did guarentee the linguistic rights of French-speaking people.Something the chauvinistic Jacobins were never be able to on their standing arrogantly on their high podium. They were oppressing the German lamguage plus Elsassisch from the very beginning as the reannexed Elsaß-Lothringen in 1919.Children were beaten in school for speaking German/Elsasserditsch.
kernerschreiber13 2 years ago
Besides, dont forget, in the process of being a part of the Kaiserreich Elsaß-Lothringen was prospering quite successfully so that at the end of the 1871-1919 era a majority was voting in favor of established German parties instead of autonomist or especially pro-French parties ( they had percentage of like 3 to 4 % !! ). In 1911, Elsaß-Lothringen did get an own constitution with some profound autonomist elements.
kernerschreiber13 2 years ago
Plus, your remark that population of Elsaß was electing men to the Reichstag who were opposing to be a part of the German Empire is not correct either. In the beginning after 1871 the population was indeed voting for parties who were pro-AUTONOMISTE !! But what does that mean ?!? That especially does not mean that they wnated to be reannexed by France.....their aim was an INDEPENDENT Elsaß-Lothringen.....another substantial difference to your reamrk made, right ?!?
kernerschreiber13 2 years ago
Go to internet archive and read "Linguistic oppression in the German Empire" by Ernest Barker from 1918.
he explains what "germanization" in the Second Reich meant in N. Schleswig, Alsace, and Posen, West Prussia
1. No public meetings except in German
2. School instruction in German only.
3. no signs on businesses except in German.
4. Menus in restaurants in German only.
5. Church services in German.
Bismarck spent millions buying up Polish estates then selling to German
EdwardRommel 2 years ago
Well, we are focusing on Elsaß-Lothringen here. If you consider the measures of the 2nd Reich as a "Germanization" policy then you must categorize the French measures not to oppress but to ERADICATE the German language as murderous....where children were beaten in school for using their mother tongue (Elsassisch). At least, French was official language in areas where a majority of people were using it as their mother tongue.
kernerschreiber13 2 years ago
Thirdly, Elsassisch is evidently not the Standard German but to categorize it properly it 100 % belongs the GERMANIC languages as a German / Alemannic dialect. The Elsassers were referring to it
as Elsasserditsch.
kernerschreiber13 2 years ago
Dude, I dont even know where to begin with that almost all of your "facts" plus "evidence" is either or simply falsification of history.
First off, your beloved Marseillaise was not written by a man FROM Straßburg but by a man who was residing in Straßburg whilst writing it.....huge difference.....this man was not an Elsasser. And that was in 1792 where the old German Reichsstadt of Straßburg was about to be annexed by France for the first time in history.
kernerschreiber13 2 years ago
But what can you expect from the current Elsaß population who are building MONUMENTS for fanatical chauvinistic racist plus xenophobe "heroes" à la jean-jacues waltz ?!? They even lecture his books in school to infiltrate the little children with notorious German hatred.
Amanda, also look up Karl Roos and Gabriel Andres...maybe you already know about their fate already.
Yeah, so, right, the french get away with everything....incroyable !!
kernerschreiber13 2 years ago
Alsace never liked being in the German Empire...that's why they kept re-electing men to the Reichstag who were opposed to the annexation...that's also why they had the famous Zabern incident.
Abbe weterle was from colmar and he was very opposed to the annexation...he wrote a book called "Behind the Scenes in the Reichstage"...available at internet archive for free PDF download.
Of the 16 men elected by Alsace to the Reichstag...15 were opposed to the annexation.
What does that say?

Kookypetal,
sometimes you be a little foul mouthed.
I didn't respond to your comment...so how did you know I was commenting here?
Notice how I can provide specific details to support my case ..but your comments are just very general in nature.
You should spend some time on research before you make broad statements about the Alsatian people.
The Germans had Poland for 125 years but could not stamp out the Polish language.
If Alsatians speak French it's because they want to.
EdwardRommel 2 years ago
EdwardRacist,
Sometimes I can be a little foul-mouthed? Wow, you're just noticing this? HOW long have you been deliberately bothering my friends and I again? Methinks you're a bit slow on the uptake.
You ALWAYS comment on stuff relating to Germany's lost lands. I didn't say you were specifically replying to me, but I knew you'd rear your head here eventually.
Kukapetal 2 years ago
And you never give any details that say anything new. All the "evidence" you've given us merely says that Elsassers are Pro-French. We ALREADY know that!
We are annoyed with their reasoning and mindset.
I respect the Poles, who refused to let their culture and language be stamped out, and who never lost their desire for independence, far more than I respect Elsassers like Sirupeuse.
Thankfully, I know that not all Elsassers are French ass-lickers. Too bad those who aren't are marginalized.
Kukapetal 2 years ago
German Foreign Minister Gottleib Von Jagow said in 1913 that Alsace was "like a foreign country".
The Kaiser was upset once when he heard that Mulhouse residents had flown French flags outside their balconies during his visit.
And a man from Strasbourg wrote the Marsellaise..
So Zabern, Colmar, Mulhouse, and Strasbourg apparently were all very pro-French....that's pretty much all of Alsace.
of course Metz in Lorraine was always pro-French and French speaking
Alsatian is not German
EdwardRommel 2 years ago
Edward, please refrain from adding further lunatic barely decipherable ramblings here. You are making up a list of so-called "facts" and then based upon those "facts you become set on the assumption that population during the era of Elsaß-Lothringen as part of the 2nd Reich were "all very pro-French" and thta "of course Metz in Lorraine" was "always pro-French and French speaking and what takes the cake is your presented "fact" that Alsatian is not German.
