Nice designs, but not original in any way. I have a very original design on my hand, I believe the russians have tried it out before and they failed. I am concidering launching my design into marketing if things go right. Wish me luck.
I think it really helps in just designing the weapon from its silhouette first, you get a rough idea what it look like, then adding the details. And it looks quite simple just lines, I never thought of that. Thanks.
Wow, I just bought the tutorial... both parts together for 23 bucks right now on CA. Watched about forty minutes, and man... I'm blown away by how effortlessly he's able to take a handful of silhouette designs to a kickass bundle of thumbnails...
I haven't seen the whole thing yet, but Coro is mindblowingly good, and so far the tut's been pretty eye opening.
Could you make a video like this to show the steps in between rendering. In this video you go from silhouettes to almost fully rendered rifles in an instant. I'd like to see how you go about getting to how they look at 1:53
I wonder what his character drawings are like they must be awesome.
Protip: If you want to go into games development, start learning how to draw perspective and figure. All the 3d skills in the world wont mean shit unless you can concept out characters and quickly change them on paper. (I know because I'm goodish at 3d and shit at drawing, crap drawing really limits your 3D skills)
I got a question for Photoshop. Now correct me in anything that i'm saying wrong, bu i'm new with this kinda stuff. When he's drawing, I suspect he's using a tablet, ho does he get his lines so straight? I've recently gotten into hand drawing and i've been working in 3ds max for abou a year. If anybody wants to give me any tips or anything that would be great. -Chris
Cool! You know when I was 26 I used to animate guns, cars, helicopters and planes. It's true it's very fun, but sometimes annoying and confusing when you can't get something right.
so true about layers. I used to paint everything on same layer and thought "Why the hell should I use more layers. It's a drawing, not matte painting on somethin'" But I found out that layers are really helpfull on lighting and many other stuff.
thats very smart, i have got an airbrush painting of the gears of war lancer gun on canvas looks just like the real thing its 3 feet long like the original, if anybodys intrested ill be putting it on ebay next week
To think that your favorite weapons in your favorite video games all started with a guy just randomly blotting black gun shapes on a photoshop canvas.
Nice designs, but not original in any way. I have a very original design on my hand, I believe the russians have tried it out before and they failed. I am concidering launching my design into marketing if things go right. Wish me luck.

Lots and lots of practice. Never stop drawing. Never stop imagining. As for schooling, you get back exactly what you put in.
