sweetie, layers would really help... you also need alot of the bulk cut our of your hair. It's so bulky in the back... it's got that cristmas tree effect going on. You know where it's really wide at the bottom and tiny at top, christmas tree... the color did improve you some but definately get another cut to de-bulkify.

That is your opinion which you are entitled to. My hair is extremely thick and curly and I detest using a flat iron a lot or using a lot of products in my hair. I live in the south, where the humidity is always a problem! I do have a different cut now, but if I didn't let my hair grow out some, I wouldn't be able to demonstrate more cuts for the people who appreciate my efforts. Have a nice day!

Sorry I didn't see this comment before now! Take Super Biotin, a B vitamin. Its very inexpensive and it rocks! I take it most everyday, with the rest of my antiaging vitamins. XO Carolyn

Long hair suits you. I am glad that you didn't cut it off. Your hair is very full and thick and looks great!

Please don't listen when someone tells you that it is not appropriate to wear long hair when reaching the age of 30, 40, 45, 50 or whatever. This is nonsense, it completely depends on the person and not on a single feature like age.

I agree totally! I love having hair that touches my back. I always have. I actually used to have nightmares when I was a child. In them, my mom would take me and have all my hair cut off. I've had my hair long as long as I can remember, except once or twice. When I did have it short (and it was real short!), I only liked it for a short time (pun again) and then started to painstakingly, grow it back out. It took years. Anyhoo! Thank you! XO Carolyn

I've been considering that, but I've had long hair for a long time. (I used to get nightmares about having short hair...) So, I think the best way to do this is incrementally. One small step at a time...

omg i cant believe you did that... but because you cut it underneath it would always stick out, like you missed a layer of hair in your ponytail... you are extremly game to do this... but the hair underneath just doesnt look right.

I didn't cut much hair at all underneath. You might think it makes my hair 'stick out', but in reality, it makes my hair lay down better. I've done this more than once or twice in my life, so I know it works for me. I like the hair hanging down when I have a pony tail, although I don't go out in public with my hair up on top of my head. I only wear it like this at home. Everyone has their own opinion though and I respect yours.

Thanks sweety! Dark colors are a great way to give depth to your hair. I thought this hair makeover was long overdue. I needed a change. Its amazing that a simple splash of color, a couple of layers and bangs, all give a refreshing new look!

Thinner hair looks more 'swingy' with lower layers. Bangs too! Thinning your bangs actually creates more volume. Just don't over-thin them or thin them every time you trim. Every three times is a good rule of thumb. Have a great day Conibear! XO Carolyn

i get rats and tangles underneath at the nape of my neck as well but what works for me is using thinning shearers to thin it out underneath... that way i can still keep my hair long

I like cutting it short cuz I pull it up a lot. The short layers being blunt cut and rather thickish, give me something 'falling down' at one length, and accentuate my updo. Thinning it only makes more knots and rats in my hair. lol Short hair on a 50 year old woman looks kinda cute. That's extremely hard to pull off at my age:o)

Hola! Thanks! I was hoping to get some motivation going here! I think we get fixated on adjusting our hair the way it is, and trying to make our hair better without adjusting it, that its easy to fall into being too laid back with our looks. I'm not saying that we should be primadona's or anything like that. I just think it's important to strive to look the best we can for ourselves. Knowwhatimean?

Hmm.... Always do your hair for you first. I bet your hair looks great! Kudo's to you for cutting it yourself. It is challenging but doable! You are so very welcome! I like it a lot but of course at my age, I've had it shorter before. lol Look great is part of the name of my site. I want to inspire everybody to change it up and not be stuck on the same ole same ole. That's why I was willing to sacrifice my hair. I did it for me, but I also did it for my subscribers.

Going against the grain is sometimes a good thing.
