@outcryofficial she was a 15 y/o raised by pastors who had the voice of a 35 y/o sequestered in nashville and given lyrics to sing...she did not write any of this...the life she leads now is that of a 25 year old woman, recently married, close to her parents and with a great deal more creative control of her artform. everyone evolves all of the time...in time her music will have a great deal of soul and freedom...once the train slows down a bit.

technically I am, I was baptized as a Lutheran...but I feel as though when I went through communion I lied about believing in the church, bible and catechism. I just can't believe in anything that was written by humans and was changed over the years.
(I know that many people believe that the bible was not tampered with, but that is impossible for me to believe based on what I have learned about regarding History)
@nittyhooo I don't believe in the stories of the bible, there are good lessons in it to learn from of course, but they are just stories to me. So I dunno, God is the creator, hes loving and such, but for some reason hell, the devil, even purgatory does not seem to be real for me.

I don't even necessarily believe in the christian heaven, just an afterlife of some kind. I'm not sure I believe in God in a religious sense either, its more like, something had an influence in creating this world, so it was probably a God. @shiphrahhopeful please dont use scripture out of context. James was the biological brother of Jesus and wasnt always a supporter of Jesus' ministry. He wrote the book of James as a man who was transformed by the resurrection of Christ. If anything his life is an example to non-believers of whats possible after faith in Christ is confessed. In 4:4 he does state "he who wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God" but this was said based on his experience, not to judge others

Seems like she has always been "cutting edge" , even back then, and was searching for new, and identifiable sounds. The talent was always there, a gift from God. Her music now is also cutting edge, and she has set herself apart from the usual things you hear with her vocal differences, and writing/performing abilities. I think she will one day return to Christian music, and be an amazing witness for the Lord. I will await that day, with patience.
As an atheist I always hope to save minds from the scourge of Christianity, but I have to admit that the hard-core Christians are far better than I am at driving people away from Christianity. I posted this music because I love it and it has brought me insight and peace when times were rough, not to start a debate. Sit back and enjoy the music. I think it's some of the best Christian music out there. Her lyrics are genuine and her voice is incredible!

@outcryofficial she was a 15 y/o raised by pastors who had the voice of a 35 y/o sequestered in nashville and given lyrics to sing...she did not write any of this...the life she leads now is that of a 25 year old woman, recently married, close to her parents and with a great deal more creative control of her artform. everyone evolves all of the time...in time her music will have a great deal of soul and freedom...once the train slows down a bit.

I'm not sure I believe in God in a religious sense either, its more like, something had an influence in creating this world, so it was probably a God. I don't think there's anything wrong with believing in Christianity either, but I think I'm just tired of everyone throwing around the words "Devil", "sin" and "corrupt" among other things.

However, she has to refrain from too obviously singing about Christianity/God, other wise many of her non-christian fans would leave. @shiphrahhopeful please dont use scripture out of context. James was the biological brother of Jesus and wasnt always a supporter of Jesus' ministry. He wrote the book of James as a man who was transformed by the resurrection of Christ. If anything his life is an example to non-believers of whats possible after faith in Christ is confessed. In 4:4 he does state "he who wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God" but this was said based on his experience, not to judge others

Only those who are not living right are disqualified from telling others how to live. I got the sin out of my life,(the log out of my eye). Seems like she has always been "cutting edge" , even back then, and was searching for new, and identifiable sounds. The talent was always there, a gift from God. Her music now is also cutting edge, and she has set herself apart from the usual things you hear with her vocal differences, and writing/performing abilities. I think she will one day return to Christian music, and be an amazing witness for the Lord. I will await that day, with patience.

@KAIproCOM Thank goodness she got out of this cult and is happy now. As a pastor's son, I know the freedom you feel when you walk away from childish superstitions. This music is so anointed and amazing, There is so much truth in what she's talking about. I wander if she was burnt out from the Christian community? What made her turn away. I know that if you have felt the presence of God you would not want anything different. God has got to be speaking to her. I'll pray for her. :)

@grammarSpelling101, i agree that this argument is based off of the assumption of a God; that now everyone agrees with this, but that doesnt mean that a moral standard does not exist. Also, it is important to recognize that the God these people are talking about is the Christian God, the ONLY God. If you knew anything about the God you would think twice before saying such a statement as "believing in God REALLY isn't any different than the belief in Zeus". Just sayin

Where was the body of christ for her? She publicly cries out in this. Hold me. Isn't that what we all seek? And the church threw out the gospel of Christ, and judged and wounded their own. Shame on us. Has Jesus left the building? I wonder if he would be welcome in our church today? For surely he would love the homesexual as much as he does me or katy or you. He might even forgive him or her of their sin and rebuke us all to our faces. We are undone before him.

All of this argument against homosexuality is under the assumption that there IS a god, which... not to start something on Youtube, 'god' forbid... but is a pretty impractical belief to tell you all the truth. Everyone has the right to believe whatever they want, but believing in God REALLY isn't any different than the belief in Zeus, or any other gods belonging to different religions.

I love Katy Hudson/Perry and so does God and maybe her success and career is a way for God to really show out in her life to show her that she really needs him. We al have that path that leads to him and it just takes some of us longer and more stops along the way. I believe that she's a beautiful person whom I will love and whom God will always love regardless. And that 's why He's God and we're not :) Beautiful song and album; she knows how to connect with people through whatever genre to me:)

its interesting to see the kind of christian artist she could have been. Can't help but feel the christian music community lost a talented artist but I'm not judging her. We all fall. Its still obvious underneath the hollywood polish she still knows who christ is.

so many sub groups of christianity who believe there message is the correct one.i was raised catholic but im not religious anymore, ive become happier then ever because i finally realized to live accordingly to what i believe is right and wrong and not someone elses and also think about how many other religions there are. buddhism,muslim,judaism.some are fanatical and would give there lives for there beliefs, if you were to approach someone from each religion they would all claim there right..

I wish her parents would have done a better job of showing her how beautiful a Christian life can be. I read that she couldnt listen to the radio, go to movies, and she felt like she was being raised in a cult. My christian home isnt like this. But we really do keep God first. Maybe she would have never turned away at all.

She was a sheltered child who could not listen to "secular" music on the radio. She was just following her parents wishes, until she hit her 20s and then she started hearing Avril Lavigne, Britney, and others. She decided she liked that music better (pop and controversy) and the rest is history

However, she her parents were fine with her making music, somehow her music did not succeed and she was given another opportunity and she took it to fame....leaving God stranded. @highclouds99 I am not Christian at all. I live in the deep south and I tell strangers that I'm a Jew to get away from their accusatory stares. I hate them, I hate most of the religion and it makes me want to scream when they all tell me that I'm going to Hell if I don't let Jesus save me. I just want to thank you for phrasing your response because it makes me feel as if there are sensible Christians out there. Like, you're not going to Hell for no reason. I want to thank you for not going out and saying that we're all going to Hell for not letting Jesus into our hearts and that you can stray from God and still come back when you truly feel like you need to. It's refreshing to find people who aren't brainwashed from infancy, because in every single church that I've ever been a part of, they were brainwashing the children. It was scary and horrible I'm just glad I escaped it. Ugh.

@velvettears81969: I'm a christian, i have unsaved friends and eventhough it is true that those that don't come to confess Jesus Christ as their lord will not get into heaven. Some so-called "Christians" also think that they'll get into heaven but its more than accepting Christ but having a relationship-bible based and with interactions with ppl showing Christ through your speach and actions. People miss that part sometimes..Day of judgement will be disappointing for some people...

God can't force someone to accept him, its a personal decision to follow Christ but your life will be bless living for him. He still loves us, either a believer or not but he hates sin itself and wants strong, holy, pure, Men/Women.... God still awaits daily ignoring your mistakes, saying Today will he/she listen to my voice today...come to me today, my arms are still open and there's time left!

hmm, just recently found Katy Hudson... This kind'f makes me less Katy Perry less..not because this is so religious, but because her new music is so seemingly anti-spiritual; like she sold out. How much can I respect an artist who forgoes their religion to sell albums? Music should be a fearless account of one's self...but now I see that Katy Perry's music is just a superficial amalgamation...I mean it wasn't /that/ meaningful before, but now her music is essentially meaningLESS.
