Genetic modification is different from cross breeding. Cross breeding is a form of genetic selection. Whereas genetic selection works to isolate a desired set of genes out of what's already present, genetic modification is changing or adding. It can create new proteins not found in nature. And it is definitely not precise. It is impossible to determine where the new gene will position itself in the host DNA.
