man! in friday i went over to my friends house and till the early hours of the morning we were playing all of the SNES and N64 classics, felt like the early nineties...
Yes..the music on this is quite suave and relaxing, the tune at 6:58 was always my favorite! I bought this game shortly after it had originally came out, aughh the memories. I really miss the simplicity of game consoles like the Super nintendo. On a slightly related note, does anyone know what kind of sequencer/keyboard this music was composed on?? Vintage video game soundtracks fascinate me haha!
Yeah, after you finished all training missions, u went on a combat rescue mission compete with rockets! (and then did training again, and went on the final rescue mission)
she states on her jcaa page that (paraphrasing) "other than 3D Hot Rally, i was charged with all the music for each game". additionally, she's credited solely for the Pilotwings tracks on the "Nintendo Super Famicom Game Music" CD. it's highly likely Kondo was just a supervisor.
they're both under "Sound Composer" in the game credits -- however, like I've already explained, if you check Soyo Oka's JCAA page, she states that she wrote all the music for every game she worked on with the exception of 3D Hot Rally. The Nintendo Super Famicom Game Music album only credits her for the Pilotwings tracks as well.
Good old times. This game were one of the first game that came when SNES were released for the first time. I miss my childhood. I grew up whit Super Nintendo.
I used to love this game. The music was great :) I especially liked the way when you passed a mission the music was really upbeat and confidence-boosting, but when you failed it was really sad and demoralising...
hrm, I'm not sure I understand why the volume fluctuates like that. I get it on most/all of my videos too. Seems like the volume gets throttled according to how much sound there is at any point..
I have a plethora of great memories associated with this game and the wonderful music. Thanks for uploading!

This is the game that allowed me to realize the power of the SNES. The phenomenal music and graphics represented a giant leap over the NES.
Moreover, Pilotwings was just such an innovative game -- in technology and theme.

Koji Kondo really did a great job here.
His music fits perfectly the atmosphere of the game.
Dibrome 6 months ago
@Dibrome What about the composer, Soyo Oka? She deserves most of the credit. She also did the SNES game music for Super Mario Kart and Sim City.

Hang gliding was always the toughest for me. Wasn't there also some special helicopter based mission when you became an elite pilot?
