Dinu Lipatti actually played this as a lullaby! In her book "Souvenirs de ma vie avec Frank Martin," Maria Martin writes about this "petit choral": "(...) il l'avait joué chez nous pour endormir nos enfants (...)"

Lipatti's version is my favourite against to the bad qualaty. He plays it very smooth, and he don't dramatize it too much.

Peaple love to say: Bach is the connection beetween human and God.

I love to say: Hess is the connection beetween us and Bach's 147 canatata, choral.

i hate musically analysing performances as good as this, but im trying to find reasons why i like it so much...

1. The bass does its job perfectly. I know its there but unaware of it.

2. The Schopp melody is perfectly featured.

3. Myra Hess' arrangement is fantastic.

4. The control. Total control.
