how does your les paul sound through the blues jr clean? i have a gibson les paul and a blues jr nos and its pretty muddy.. i always have to keep the treble on 12 and the mids and bass practically off.. Any help? Im considering getting a princeton or a vox ac15c1..
Hey All. I am really happy with my 2002 Les Paul Classic. I used to own and explorer and can swear that the Classic is heavier. I played a gig and played behind my head and almost dropped it! lol
beautiful tone...was just in the shop playing the last model they'll ever have in stock...and the parent patrol think 3250 Aus Dollars is too much for a discontinued GIBSON LES PAUL!!! WTF!!! shattered
dude im using a les paul classic 60s in all my videos except one if u wanted to check one out. they are great. better than any new standards in my opinion
BRO, I keep coming back just to listen to you jam because I have seen and heard so many people play and I am sick of hearing garbage.Your playing is smooth as butter and soothing to the ears. Play on my friend because you are so far ahead of the game. I have to admit that I think that shred guitar is a bastardized form of playing. What makes people equate all that speed with music that people want to buy much less listen to. Keep on jamming and posting your clips.
excuse me can you pls tell me why the gibson les paul classics are less expensive than the standards? what pick ups do the standards have? gr8 playin btw
I've got Les Paul Deluxe from 76 with mini humbuckers. I wonder if it would sound as good as your guitar if I had that amp. What do you think? Can you show me the link to the amps page?
I have a question for you. I found a Les Paul Classic at a recently new music store in town. It looks pretty used, the gloss has kinda worn off, etc. But in the pickguard it has "1960" engraved on it with little remnants of what looks to be gold flake. Can you give me any ideas to whether it's a reissue or actual vintage?
its a reissue bro, i got a goldtop as well and this guitars kick ass, discontinued now, the best ones are 2006 and under cause after 2007 gibson chambered the bodys which makes them weight nothing, a heavy gibson is the best
I've hated modern gear for ever.. Im liking it a lot more now. Road worn series I tried were both cool. Maple and rose wood strats. I want gibson on the same page with that idea.
If I go and buy the fender PRO Junior.. 15 watts, all tube, but doesnt have all the controls that the Blues Junior has, can I get the same tone as u?? I dont have pickups with ceramic magnets.. I have seymour duncan 59's (PAFs)
Depends on what sound you want. For this style of music, I wouldn't recommend them. They have a really "modern" sound, especially clean, so I would say yes if you play stuff like alternative or indie or metal.
whats your opinion on the original pickups on the les paul classic? the 496 and 500
im saving up for a classic and i heard from some the are a hotter output then most of gibsons pickups and are good for a more modern type of music...then i heard from some that they are just shit haha
With that combo 496/500 you can play anything when you use the guitar controls (I did not on the clip).
Depends of your taste, but they are not "just modern", they are hotter with more midrange.
Now they're covered, I've replaced the magnets for some Alnico 4.. and put some NOS Sprague PIO caps!!
they sound warmer, smoother with great definition and have less output (real low power HB) than the actual Traditionnal, Classic Antique (both '57 Classic) and Standard (BB Pro's) ;-)
Any kind of overdrive, distortion or booster work really good ;-)
But turning the Master volume full the way up and achieve the right amount of gain by adjusting the Volume.. gives you a perfect break up with plenty of compression and harmonics ;)
you said it's 100% original except for the covers? why did you choose to put the covers on and did you solder them together. Did it make a difference in the sound? either way, you sounded awesome, enjoyed your playing!
WOOOOOW amazing tone ! that's great !yeah, you can sound like jimmy page ! I have a les paul classic plug into a marshall jcm 900, and on the bridge pickup i just esound like slash ^^
I cannot crank it up in the appartment but trust me, on stage it rules and people are impressed by that LesPaul Classic and that little Mojo tweed amp.
They were looking for some upgrades but, everything is 100% stock except the PU's covers ;-).
I do appreciate those Vintage Vibes, and I guess it's gonna sound so much better with a Bassman Piggy Back cabinet loaded by Two G12M Greenback Celestion 25 watts.. my favorite for 20 years, incredible woody warmth tone.
hey did you have your amp on the clean channel or overdrive channel? cause i really dig your tone, i have a fender hotrod deville 410 myself. any advice on how i can set it up to get a tone close to yours? cause im looking for that bluesy tone. i would appreciate it thanks!

Les Paul Classic = Awesome
fantastic sustain. I play through a Fender Jr for smaller stuff - EXCELLENT
for larger venues I play through a Twin Reverb. Yeah, Gibson Gtr with a Fender amp. great combo.

Hi, the 1960 means that the pickguard comes from a Classic or just that the guitar is a Classic.
My "1960" worn out very fast, a few months, same for Rythm and Treble.. those guitars age beautifully ;-)

edgarclsgibson 2 years ago
The les paul classic isn't a reissue. It's just inspired by the 60s les paul which bascially means it's got the slimmer neck.
The best ones are the early 90s when they first came out. Mine's a 2005 one-piece back honeyburst.

covers are in the other clip, they 're Gibson Nickel and I soldered 'em like originals.

Sweet dude...I want more!!! Nice amp. Tell me about it?
skydog46 3 years ago
Thanks so much,
I will do more.. soon ;-)
Very nice amp, full stock out of the box.
Fender has definitely captured the Holy Tone Spirit with it.
It has real Vintage Vibes, loud enough to play on stage and very easy to crank to give that warmth tubes sound.
I used to tour with real vintage amps for more than 15 years in all kind of venues, and that little MOJO rocks for real.
