I read somewhere that this remake is the original, except ALL of the drama is based around the internal factors/ how good people are, and none of the external factors, such as Coco i think her name was being taken advantage of, no unwanted pregnancies, no violence within families or within the school.... sorry, but the original Fame was so, SO much more than just a dance movie, and if that's what they've turned it into, then I'm not remotely interested.

@hissybitch For all intents and purposes, you're right: they've removed most of the gritty feel of the original, although the one girl was expected to put out for someone who was going to help her career, and the one guy, who is supposed to be gay, zombied towards the subway tracks...although he got comforted before he got there. But yes, the easiest way to describe what they did was they PG'd a movie that was, if memory serves, NC-17 or R rated previously.

The movie should have had more cohesion. The stories didn't really come together it was just showing a bunch of stories with a lot of characters so uninteresting I didn't bother remebering their names. The Black and Gold scene was the only part I loved:)

It reminds me too much of Step Up and High School Musical (i.e the bad knock offs of the original Fame) I love the eighties version too much, I've seen the tv series, the movie, and the musical twice.
