its been down for 3 weeks back in 2007 and a few other times since then, and the hackers had acess to the credit cards, but they didnt steal any. mine was not stolen. and even if it was stolen, sony offered a free credit check and up to $1million of compensation. (and since most credit card limits are $4,000, its plenty)

Before you say "well I never had that problem", I've also had a 360 from launch die on me but not from 3 red lights, it was the same cause of death as your PS3 (bad laser). Lasted 3 years. Next Xbox 360 I bought in 08 is still going strong. Both consoles have improved vastly in reliability since their launches as well.

@playerblaze600 Remember, at the time the PS3 only had a few systems per store (And 100+ people in line, at my home at the time of release, my walmart had exactly 2 systems, friend asked them just to find out if he even had a chance. He didn't. He went anyway just to see how many people showed up, he counted 57 people.) Even so though, that's not an excuse.
No matter what the system, the amounts of rage this caused is beautiful. Lets hope for a Smashmy Xbox3/PS4/Blindly named NIntendo system
