When Gan-san and Ohi raced to compare the two models, I don't really think the new model was faster. The narrator says its because of the gear ratios, but I think it was down to the driver. You can see Gan-san redline the car a lot more than Ohi, whereas Ohi shifts almost perfectly at the redline or a little before it. And at 10:05 Ohi shifts down into 3rd which left him at about 5200RPM; out of VTEC. I'm no expert but if he went to 2nd and drafted Gan-san I think he could've past him again?

Base rsx's have 160hp. Type s has 201hp for 02-04 and 210hp for 05-06. They all have k20s in them, but with slight variations.

@togaxc Honda has to do what every other manufacturer is doing, and with the extra safety and emissions systems the cars will obviously get heavier. and Honda has always wanted to be green. but the sad thing is that it´s getting harder and harder for them to make the amazing high revving beautiful engines and still have them meet the ever more stringent emissions regulations:( but one of the reasons they are the worlds largest engine manufacturer is the fact they make green efficient engines.

I remember going to the Acura dealer around 02 saying when you get info in on the new body style of the Type R, Please call and ill drop a deposit immediately, but as we all know with time, America got fucked again! woo....whats even worse is when I was 19 I had my chance at the new Type R in 2000 but was more interrested in the Accord v6 ex for the leather and bells and whistles....sometimes you look back and face palm! Wow where did all the Top Gear hatred come from. One of the earlier posts said it correctly, the show is aimed at different crowds. Anyone other than a dedicated enthusist would probably find this show very and I mean very boring. While Top Gear has a more universal appeal.
