  • And oh yeah, good luck getting a technical education with a mystical worldview. And with mechanization replacing more and more of the non technical and non creative industries, that means good luck getting a job at all. On the bright side, maybe they'll be able to find time to raise their children in that case.

  • Creating a euphemism treadmill for science is no way to combat creationism. That won't win the battle. Public education will never work. The best way to win the war of the future in regards to facts vs faith is to have parents actually raising their children. Even if the parents are fascist and religious zealots, having parents raising their children means that their children will develop better than by being shuffled into soulless socialized daycare institutions we call 'schools.'

  • 'Disproving one thing about evolution does not prove creation'. This is really a philosophical point and a good reason for seeing the philosophical, as well as the strictly scientific, angle to this. I said earlier that creationism would get nowhere were it not part of a 'Values' package. Both this and the notion that "'X is false' does NOT necessarily imply 'Y is true'" are the domain of philosophy. We need to get a grip on this sort of thing, too.

  • Sorry - Arthur Russell Wallace should read 'ALFRED Russel Wallace' - I had a music teacher at school called Arthur Wallace, and my little synapses misfired!

  • Another thought: the validity of any scientific finding is always immeasurably enhanced by 2 or more people coming up INDEPENDENTLY with the same idea. In this context I feel Arthur Russell Wallace is too often understated in this debate.

  • Very good talk (so far). We realise I presume that the pseudo-science aka 'Scientific Creationism' wouldn't last five minutes if it were not part of a highly conservative entire 'Biblical VALUES' package. Still, it's out there and must be opposed in scientific terms as much as possible. Prof. Williams certainly seems to be doing a good job (I've not come to the end yet!)

  • Very good talk.

  • Terrific talk!! Great delivery!! Terrific sense of wry humour!!9 Excellent advice. Never thought before of using 'vernacular' to describe the dishonest use of 'theory' by creationists. Many thanks.

I love the enthusiasm with which Williams derides the creationist literature that he displays. 'Educationally deceitful' is right. 'Intellectual abuse' is correct.

The seriousness of his address cannot be over stated. Thanks BHA.

  • An excellent talk and very well delivered.

  • ha ha ha the creationist comics are great!!! If it wasn't so sad that people believe this.

  • Excellent video. Great presenter.

  • Great video BHA! I'm happy to say, my sister started being taught in school about evolution when she was 11. :)

  • Nice talk, also good advice. Thank you for the upload.
