@galwithawand Memory card will not effect picture quality, just speed that data can be written to it. Look at a 16GB SDHC, either Class 6 or Class 10.

@galwithawand memory card affects video recording. If you have a low speed card then it'll usually cut out after a couple mins. you can get a 32GB class 10 SDHC card from scan for around £30 which i'd recommend

Stick with the 550D

I haven't figured out how to properly utilize manual focus with this camera.

When wanting to focus on an object up close and then pulling out to focus on a larger image we lose focus on the larger image.

How do we remedy this? Thanks so much for your help!

I could not be happier with my T2i/550D.

I recently took it to a figure skating show and took some shots when they skated and during the VIP meet and greet, and now the main skater's agent is actually using them after they were posted online. I'm just some dude :D

I'm thrilled with it. It's autofocus isn't too shabby either; I did burst mode on some quick skaters and 90% of them were in focus. The only ones out of focus was my error of not tracking the subject perfectly.

2. Fromt he card (there is no hard drive in the 550D).

3. I used Log & Transfer in FCE.

@RefluzHD you can change a setting that allows you to take pictures without a card in the camera but they wont be saved. so yes you can capture them, but they wont be going anywhere

I know what you mean when you said that you will be surprised at what you can achieve with the kit lens. Yesterday, I got a EOS 500D with the 18-55mm lens. I took some photos and it looks like they were taken with a Macro lens. You can see them on Twitter /photos/joekeogh2010 My favourite one I took was that of the Guitar. :) Great video!

@duffmeister11784 No chance of overcharging, the Canon charger won't allow that. It takes about 90-120 minutes though.

The T2i is a great camera. But, for people wanting a high end camera and a lightweight "grab & go" camera, your better off buying a Pentax K-x and putting the rest of the cash towards a 7D. Just my .02.

Im not sure how long it will last but if you find both the canon 55-250mm lens and the T2i with the 18-55 kit lens being sold by AMAZON only, then you can use a promo code 5525OBUN at checkout and you get the lens for free. The camera originally goes for 850 from amazon. There is also a 400 dollar printer that comes with a 400 dollar rebate. Pixma pro 9000 mark II i think. Its really hard to catch the deal. Stock sells out within an hour or two!
