  • The sad thing about djent...and this, is that vocals just...suck...why don't they have singers like Dio, Ian Gillan, Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford or so...

  • @SeanMcStomper Because glam should stay in the 1980s.

  • @2112Primus Did you just call Maiden, Priest, Purple, and Dio "Glam Metal"? Haha. Wow.

  • Gotta give this some credit... not every time i come across a band i love!

  • THEY. ARE. BACK!

  • FACEBOOK COM/SIKTHOFFICIAL

  • SikTh have an official Facebook page now! Go like that shit! facebook(dot)com/sikthofficial

  • Dude!

  • Adrian Smith is teaming up with this dude? Wow. Just hope it doesn't delay the next Maiden album...

  • Credit where its due, Sikth changed progressive metal! Amazing!

  • Sikth

    R.I.P.

  • Check out this band's singer Mikee Goodman's new project with Iron Maiden's Adrian Smith called Primal Rock Rebellion. It also has SikTh member Dan Foord on Drums.

Their first single is on my profile, and it kicks ass :)

  • I like this.. I just don't think I can play this with my girl in the car lol

  • Thank you Rody for introducing me to this band

  • I was in HMV this afternoon and there I saw "Death of a Dead Day" and I immediately snatched it up OMFG. I've been looking for it for over a year and I was told they weren't been printed but to see it today made my year.

  • from sikth, i got into the fall of troy, then blakfish, then iwrestledabearonce, then dance gavin dance, then this town needs guns, modern american theatre, the speed of sound in seawater, trapped in kansas ...and a part of me is like, "well, how the fuck did that happen?" but mostly, i think the word "math" saved my musical life. and i couldn't generally care less about genres.

  • @openheartzoo listen to The Dillinger Escape Plan to top it all off

  • i miss this band so much

  • This song reminds me of Pig Latin by the Dillinger Escape Plan.

  • can`t get into my mind what level of proficiency and quality (I don`t mean the 240p now lol) can be discovered in some gems of the underground. This band is UNBELIEVABLY good.

  • I grew up with VHS cassettes; I can deal with 240p

  • @engymaster. Then check out Periphery, Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, and Protest the Hero. I think they'd suit your fancy!

  • 1:38 I thought I had a whistle-booger. >_>

  • I hate heavy metal.... yet I fucking love Sikth!! The mind does boggle...

  • @engymaster Periphery, haunted shores, animals as leaders. This is a new wave of real music, new metal.

  • @XpEAnUTBuTtERsUckSX uh. sikTh > all of those

  • @iamrichlol LOL, AAL demolish Sikth, Toni is most defiantly one of the most talented and creative guitarists ever to live, you ignorant.

  • @XpEAnUTBuTtERsUckSX

    Toni? You talking about Tosin?

  • @XpEAnUTBuTtERsUckSX thats really a bold statement to say in fact if you knew anything about music you would know that in terms of difficulty both bands are up there. saying one is harder then the other shows your ignorance. I love AAL, but sikth is more unique and therefore better in my book. and his name is Tosin.

  • @IGNsucks Unique specifically? I honestly feel they (though with their obvious talent and creativity) carry a heavy generic weight.

  • @XpEAnUTBuTtERsUckSX okay?.........what does that even mean.......

  • @XpEAnUTBuTtERsUckSX In all honesty, it's tech metal/mathcore. They're bound to run over some sort of generic twists. But they, in no way, carry a heavy generic weight.

  • bloody advert talking about the new film about time, which looks a bit like a sketch based on David Firth - Time. Hmmmm, sightly suspicious.

Please keep the adverts off Sikth's music :) Much love x

  • bullshit

  • I'm not really a fan of djent like Periphery or TesserecT, but these guys are pretty Sikth =p

  • what an insane song fukin awesome

  • Dan Weller announced that there will be a reunion but the members are not yet sure about when it will happen.

Third best news of 2011, with 1 being the Meshuggah Album announcement and 2 being the Gojira album announcement.

  • @Premoguys Where did you hear this =D?

  • @Ollievarium Wikipedia

  • @Premoguys Hee hee chamone!

  • @Premoguys Reliable source.

  • Fuck, I can't stop listening to this

  • Whey!

  • 240p,we meet again...

  • @probassistNOT problem, HD-watchers? :7

  • @probassistNOT This comment, we meet again.....

  • @probassistNOT Guy commenting on the video resolution, we meet again...

  • It's like Meshuggah meets Tesseract meets Periphery.

  • @f1endslayer nah mate, it really isn't.

  • @f1endslayer Sikth started this shit lmao, tesseract and periphery are inspired by sikth/meshuggah

  • @cardonaband

Meshuggah was around over a decade before these guys.

  • @MykeMetyll prolly longer than that

  • @cardonaband too bad the vocals are bleh

  • @f1endslayer Tesseract and Periphery are like Sikth, not the other way around lol

  • @f1endslayer yeah. i dont really know about meshuggah so much but the main riffs are very bulb-ish stuff and all the clean (clean vocals) parts and clean break downs are SUCH tessie sorta thing. sikth was formed in 98 and bulb was doing his thing starting in -02-03 so i guess there is a chance he was influenced by this but i really do feel like the guys from tessie, this is one of their huge influences but im not them, so i dont know.

  • such a unique sound. i really dig this

  • ya the world may be dark and brutal and ya life ain't easy but dissent mean shit it will get worse and worse because people don't what to do shit about it and that's how the world fucken work's is because people fucken sit around and do nothing for someone else besides them self's and we look at one ever day we turn on the tv

  • Dear "metalcore", Metal wants nothing to do with you. Nor does Death or Crab.

  • this band suck ...

  • Guys, go listen to a band called Psykup if you like Sikht, you won't regret it.

  • @Pietruss i'd refer people to fellsilent for more similarity IMO.

  • i'd like to visit 'nothing new rd' :)

  • i saw these guys just b4 the split after this album at the cockpit in leeds, i was so geared up to see them n when i saw them, i was so miffed, pissed off n let down :( they eezed trouble in the camp, sutch a shame, my bro introduced me to their demo b4 the 1st album n i was hooked, but to watch six guys on stage with no chemistry, n a crowd that only wanted to hear the 1st album really gutted me! sutch a shame, an awsome band, jus wish they wuda stuck to the sound of the 1st album. R.I.P :(

  • Dude this guitarist totally rips off Aliases' ;P

  • :) Yaaaa. I love this song. This video is sick as well. The double vocals is freaking amazing as well.

  • my cousin said this band sounded wierd..

i dont care.. they sound great!

  • @Imfromwhere the word he was looking for was original.

  • @Imfromwhere well then he's a queef.

  • @godthegourd that is TRUE

  • @Imfromwhere lol

  • Thumbs up if all of u think ''I like this song, but I need to be in the mood for it"

  • greatest band in the world

  • I love this. And stop fucking classifying metal, can you see the utility in it? me neither. Just enjoy music and call it sikth if you want.

  • Good track, but I'm already bored of it. Chorus is great, screams are corny, eh, I'll go back to metalcore.

  • @qpstrafe You seriously prefer fucking metalcore to this? Sir, you fail.

  • @HateLoveLive Yes. I do. Metalcore is sick as hell. It's funny how the "true metal" fans don't understand that yet. You guys will catch up eventually ;)

  • @qpstrafe metalcore is alright, musically and technically though its lackluster. this is so far ahead of any metalcore band I ever heard. and the screams are very creative and interesting where as metalcore is the tried and over done long growls/screams which become boring after a minute. if you like metalcore thats fine, I enjoy it every now and then but dont go bashing this band please.

  • @IGNsucks I didn't bash it. I said the chorus was really good, but screams weren't, and after listening to it again the screams aren't as bad as I originally thought.

  • I have never found any band that can come close to the sheer brilliance that this track conveys. No one else can match this sound or vocal style and its uniqueness just stands out <3

  • Life…changed.

  • Yes I can finally skip ads.

  • The irony of having a fucking advert on this.

  • @killath303 not with adblock

  • In my opinion, they sound like Meshuggah, Mastodon, and System of a Down fucked and had a rebellious teen.

  • His clean vocals sort of remind me of Christian Älvestam's

  • come to our channel to hear our debut single ' in taylors eyes' recorded by our good friend dan weller from sikth!! like what you hear? like us on facebook to download it for free!!

  • absolutely amazing what a huge influence on music

  • Wow this is fucking disturbing, but in a good way

  • Mikee's voice actually made this band so original, Aliases sound the same as a lot of other bands even with 2 singers... I miss the old Sikth :'(

  • great band! soo happy i found this

  • i REALLY like the beginning vocals. I wish they would expound on that

  • @dahudge14 well dude the whole point of progressive metal is to move on from one idea to the next. so expanding on one idea really wouldnt be progressive would it and besides the reason you like the part you like is because its short, more of the same would just down grade it.

  • @IGNsucks

No way dude. I wish there was more of it because it sounded really great, and it's one of the only parts of the song that is really truly outside of the progression, the rest is kind of like your standard build of a song (verse, chorus, bridge, etc). And yes, progressive metal moves from idea to idea, but that doesn't mean that using real vocals means you have to take less than about 8 seconds to get the idea across.

  • @dahudge14 dude, It's called Opeth.

no, jk i agree with you

  • @dahudge14 Youre right about the clean vocals dude. they sound sick. you should check out protest the hero. There about as progressive as it gets with changing up riffs and they have some amazing clean vocals. They are my favorite band by far. I honestly only looked at this band because someone told me they sounded like protest the hero. This is pretty good tho, But I agree with you alot of it just sounds like its been done before. But nonetheless alot better than most metal out today.

  • @downfallin yo dude! im the other way round, i only heard of protest cuz som1 told me they sounded like sikth. this is from ther second album, hv u checked their first yet? protest are my fav band today by far, i love fortress, cant stop listening to it, i like scurilous too, it took a little getin used to but i do love it. what do you think of scurilous?

  • @killallwasps Dude scrillious is there best album! I liked kieza the most before, fortress was really close tho, but scrilliuos is a new level of sick haha

  • This song. It is so fucking good.

  • Double vocalist action! This is freakin Sikth (haha, pun!)

  • I love their "off" notes.

  • if you guys are looking for a good djent band you need to check out the contortionist .. listen to flourish or advent

  • When I think of SikTh, I think of God.

Of how they beat his ass

  • AAL FTW

  • These guys are just too good for 257,000 views

  • btw, anyone listened to animals as leaders - CAFO. that mutha blew my mind...still no sikth though.

  • @antnybeard tosin is in the pressence of gods

  • oh boy, this still gets me tearin' up no end. what a band. imagine what they would have sounded like now if they'd never broken up? fuck knows. i bet metal on the whole would be different though coz these guys would be making everyone else look bad. i mean they do NOW and DOADD was 5 years ago...

    I ♥ sikth 4eva (idst)

  • I just wish canada had more progressive bands. Protest the hero is still the top here. UK has a pretty amazing movement imo.

  • @ThroughTheseLights well Rush. but PTH ftmfw

  • And on the Sikth day.... Bland Street Bloomed.

  • One amazing aspect with SiKth I think, is that despite them not being a band anymore, their fan base is still growing,

If they did a comeback tour they'd probably play to bigger audiences than ever before haha!

  • As much as I love Meshuggah's rhytmically complexity/layering I wish they had found a way to incoperate melodic lines in the vocals. Singing tis awesome when done properly (I can totally imagine James Maynard Keenan doing a tune with Meshuggah). That's why i like this band, they mesh the tonal with the atonal. To me that the next step in metal.

  • @BreakingBenniBoyA7x

Headbanging to these songs isn't hard at all. Everything is still in some form of -/4 or -/8 ect,

Just listen to the drums (Y)

  • i love it, but headbanging to such songs is kind of tricky xD

  • wowowewwah

  • music gey

  • This is the only song by Sikth (i have heard) that i like. ;)

  • just came across these guys. can anyone recommend other bands that sound like sikth?

  • Comment removed

  • @BIoodrunk Um.. I heard about this band from the band Architects, but they don't sound much like these guys. Maybe.. Children of Bodom is something you would like? Or SikTh and Aliases. SikTh isn't really doing anything, and I just found about about Aliases too.

  • @aaronconlin

    periphery,

look up djent on youtube you find plenty

  • @BIoodrunk

    Protest The Hero

    Meshuggah

    TesseracT

there's no band that actually sounds similar to Sikth that I've come across.

  • @CanWeAllDream how about Pin's new band aliases? ;)

  • @CanWeAllDream You should check out The Arusha Accord

  • @CanWeAllDream The closest I've heard are The Arusha Accord. Still nowhere near as good but they have a similar style. Also some Cyclamen stuff. And just incase anybody hasn't heard Pin's new band, Aliases, they should!

  • @CanWeAllDream

    check out fellsilent

  • @CanWeAllDream There are a shit load of bands that now sound similar(ish) to Sikth. With the whole kick-off of the "djent" sound, basically coined by Meshuggah, bands are springing up all over the place trying to jump on the band-wagon.

TesseracT's demo was very good, then they got their new vocalist and they just sound exactly like every other djent band out there, great music but then fucking terrible whiny vocals. A real shame.

  • @humbug595 check out the contortionist bro ... will be quite satisfied im sure

  • @SilenceSoSudden That's proper djent in my opinion, not any of this whiney emo kid vocal crap. Still, I lost interest in djent a while back when it turned into exactly what Tesseract have become, something for kids to turn up to and "crab" to or whatever the fuck it is that's called.

  • @humbug595 comments like that are humbling cause i feel the same way cause im 22 and surrounded by those crabs lol

  • @humbug595 Tesseract showed a lot of promise though in the beginning don't you agree?

  • @Hamgammy Yes TesseracT looked to be really awesome at the beginning, with their original vocalist their early demo seemed impressive. Then the lineup changed and they became generic "djent" bullshit.

  • @CanWeAllDream Vortice, Sybreed..

  • @CanadianBean28 You think Sybreed sounds like Sikth? The only similarity I can think of is that they both have an S in their band name...

  • @fsbfsbfsbfsbfsbfsb id say they have the time signature similarity as well, not that there time signature are even remotely identical, but that they both use them, lol, but besides that, nothing but that they are both badass bands.

  • @glnorris ..Every musician uses time signatures. What you said makes zero sense.

  • @Polyrthyawhut i think what you meant to say was that all music is based on time signatures.. all music and beats are used through time signature, time signature is the beat....... too bad you didnt realize that i was being sarcastic. their time signature change ups are used frequently and are based on alot of the less common time signatures. which basically means that they play alot of off beat sounding shit thats hard for most to keep up with. sorry for your confusion.

  • You're wrong again. A Time signature is not the beat, it defines the pulse. Doesn't even matter considering that bands like this don't even think in time signatures when writing riffs, its all groove and creativity.

You may want to learn something besides broken english in the future though.

  • @CanWeAllDream Dillinger Escape Plan is reeeaaal close but no cigar.

  • @CanWeAllDream check out periphery

  • @Afroblack379 periphery is a sick band but they dont sound like sikth

  • @Afroblack379 periphery suck wang.

  • @CanWeAllDream Periphery sounds pretty similar in many ways..

  • @CanWeAllDream periphery has a similar sound, or at least the same kind of sound production

  • @CanWeAllDream try architects to the death!

But it's normal if none of those bands sounds similar, it's not the same genre!

    Protest the Hero==> progressive metal/metalcore

    Meshuggah ==> progressive metal ( djent )

TesseracT ==> Djent ( a little) and progressive metal ( too melodic for me )

Silkth is Mathcore ( Math rock + metalcore/hardcore ) it's one of the best known mathcore bands but u can find a lot of bands in thsi style!

  • @CanWeAllDream Check out the new Dir En Grey ('Different Sense').

  • @CanWeAllDream That's very depressing. Why is Sikth so awesome?

  • @BIoodrunk cyclamen for sure

  • If you dont like this you don´t have a soul

  • The wold need's to become dark and brutal

  • @wargod6661 it is

  • @wargod6661 Look around. The world already is dark and brutal. Life ain't easy

  • this 5 minutes and 43 seconds were a good investment

  • anyone else than me who likes the "hard stuff" ?

[trying to make a todd joke]...

  • Wow. All this discussion of theory and no one seems to know the fucking answer. I haven't even looked at the notes or tried to play the song, but it doesn't even matter. It all comes down to what key the song is in. Use the circle of fifths and figure it out!

  • the guys that recorded, mixed and mastered this song are geniuses. this has to be one of the best mixes in metal today. every instrument is balanced perfectly.

  • @underscoreisnotvalid: then it's converted to MP3 and thoroughly Youtubed to death :)

  • These guys have to be the most brutal unique band ever.why don't they still play like this >( and anyone that disses this band is retarded

  • 3:58 the vocals kinda sound the same as look what i did

  • what a shame this band is not around anymore..

  • LOVE it >:D ,have i mentioned that i'm in an exceptionally bad mood?

  • Alfred hitchcock much?

  • Is it the soundtrack of birdemic XD ?

  • 3:27 is when shit became satanicly baddas

  • I wonder if sikth gets annoyed when they hear periphery created djent....

  • @SASchertz

Hahaha probably. Though, I will give Periphery the fact that they made it a pretty huge thing (djent) in a short period of time.

  • @SASchertz I wonder what Meshuggah are thinking to. So many band use djent style before Periphery, and rly, i think periphery is not rly djent, only prog 8string metal (well, its consider djent, but imo not rly :P). Real Djent imo are bands like Fellsilent, Tesseract, Vildhjarta and many other band.
