I was born in Newfoundland and I lived there for 2 years, but then I moved to British Columbia, then to Maine, and I always can't wait to visit it every summer. Great place to go.
Possibly the most awesome place on planet Earth! Newfounlanders are so amazing. They are so frikin genrous, welcoming and friendly! I love the Rock and always will!
They could at least get the town names right when they did the commercial. The first place is Duntara and the second place is Red Cliff. Both of these communities are in Bonavista Bay.
I all ways go to NFL every summer. Because my mom and dad was born thir but I was on born on Toronto, ON. I don't like NFL no more because I don't see black people :(.. And the house's are the side of the hill I was like WTF and they dont have good radio's....
If you want to know a little of Newfoundland read the novel by Annie Proulx called the Shipping News and then go out and rent the movie. It stars Kevin Spacey, Julianne Moore.
Lovely video and song is very appropriate :) I moved to Canada from Ireland 2 years ago almost and I am looking foward to visiting Newfoundland as its is so like home..of course the people here are lovely and down to earth, they are originally from Ireland :) miss home listening to this.
Mummering is something like getting in a costume but your wearing like winter clothing and wearing a pillow case or some sheet over your face and a bunch of random clothing and going into peoples houses and have a sing along and a few round of beers. ..me and a few friends of mine do it..Its a Newfoundland Christmas Tradition. Its wicked by!
I have been to many different parts of Newfoundland, but I have to admit I have not seen every nook and cranny of the Island, but based on your comment you have? I can honestly say I have been to places that are just as lovely as in this video. Where have you been?
I've been in every nook and cranny hunny, I lived here my whole life and I can honestly say that Newfoundland does not look like this. It's not as pretty! They just make the tourism videos look that way to make outsiders what to come and visit.
Every time I go there I get the chance to see some awe inspiring scenery and some incredible communities. I really think that Newfoundland is a beautiful province and it is nice to see that the commercials do it justice. You are lucky enough to live there so you take the beauty for granted. Once you move into a big city where the most exciting scenery you see is a bust up on the street corner or a bum peeing in the gutter, believe me you would have a greater appreciation.
@johncabott thats tough..ive had many disscusions with the people at work about the nfld..they want to beleive what they beleive and thats it..lol...there is no way to convince them otherwise....somone should do a documantary about whats really happening home these days..there are an awful lot of people who are experts on newfoundland but have never even been there....the economy is actually doing better than ontario..
@wizwow77 I know I know. I remember one time, I was on the computer playing games with my friends and this one guy asked me. "Where do you live?" I said "St. John's Newfoundland.". he said "is it really true that you guys live in igloos!? I always heard you did!". I said " Of Course! I Plugs my computer into the ice socket!"
I later then told him I'm joking haha.
I love Newfoundland Im never going to move from here. No reason too! This place is just getting Bigger, more people are moving to NL.
Another great commercial showing the beauty of this province. Love the slogan: "It's about as far from Disneyland as you can possibly get". Lovely music too. I must visit there someday.
people from the mainland can have their stupid over populated cities and shitty air. i think us newfoundlanders have it just as good if not better than the rest of the country. and trust me, ive seen the rest of the country, nothing more extravagant about there than here
@riverboy89 I'm from New Brunswick, NB is a very nice province but I must admit, I would love to travel if not move to Newfoundland. It just seems so much more chill then anywhere else in the whole world.
I love newfoundland , ill never leave Gods Country (Portugal cove)..ill never leave this province to live anywhere else...Newfoundland definatly gave me the best childhood i could ask for..... and for the comment by that guy makin fun of those kids... i garuntee you wouldnt say anything to a full grown Newfondlander, especially the Fathers of those children who u just insulted..id say it would be your last mistake
WHy would you make a comment like that? I dont live there, but your comment is SOOOOO uncalled for!
At least they can call themselves some of the hardest working and most caring people in all of Canada. I am half Newfie and half Aussie....I am proud to call myself a Newfoundlander! and the only ugly person i see here is you my friend with your ugly comments...please respect others and keep your negativity to yourself
everyone who misses newfoundland because they had to go away for work, should come back for a visit with their kids, and show them where they grew up. I cry a little inside everytime I think of having to leave for work. I don't care if I work as a shit-shoveller, I'm staying here until I die!
I lived in Newfoundland all my life. And I still live there now

Is the lovely song in this a island tune, or just written for this commercial? I would love to get a copy of the full tune.

@awolarmysurplus sometimes, i take it for granted because of the weather or all the nasty flies in the summer time.
but i remember so many times, sitting by then narrows watching the sunset, and listening to the waves.
i always love it.
or swimming in fresh lakes,
and how i can be in the city for five minuets, and go to the most easternly point in north america
and everything is so quite.
plus i love our lighthouses!

Wow, its actually inbred, not inbreed. You seem like you are very well educated. It must be nice to be so superior since you live in St. John's.

Why do they show these parts of the island! It makes newfoundlanders, like myself, look really poor. What about St. John's? Mount Pearl? Paradise?
