@TheeJukeBoxHero i know that the 951's cylinder heads have ceramic liners, just makes the turbo respond better with higher temperature. the 951's also use sodium filled valves in the cylinder head for better heat dissipation. it is possible to create a 944 turbo, but converting it to a 951 entirely would be more than buying a 951. the bodies have different features, and motor work is damned expensive.
i just picked up a 86 Turbo and i love it. Its got the same red leather interior, (not my first choice for interior color but oh well) silver exterior. Just a fun all around car.
@rrrrica347 Porsche 944 dude this is a awesome car and they are very cheap (bought mine for 2000$ and it runs) the is a lot of specialist sites with parts. And you get the joy to say that you fucking own a porsche not a merc
I have another question similar to the previous one, in fact they go together. Even though my temp gauge is a little faulty (it bounces back and forth and will get stuck on the left side - have to tap the dash to get it unstuck) it wants to stay near the yellow after it warms up. When I idle at a light, the meter moves into the yellow until I pick up speed again, then it comes back out of the yellow. Is this danger of overheating or what could it be?
check that both cooling fans are working properly. If one or both are faulty or not comming on at all the car will overheat sitting still. Also add a bottle of "water wetter" it will help keep the temp from going up so high.
Hey nice car! Looks like it just came off the assembly line. I'm hoping you can answer a question. I have an '85 944 and I'm wondering is it normal/common for these cars to run hot? I can have the vent temp pulled all the way into the cool(blue) and have my air vents closed and yet I can still feel hot air coming through and building up in my driving compartment. Is there something wrong? I have to have the windows down for comfort.
There should be a big foam gasket under the gear shift/selector. If it is missing or has rotted out with age (mine did) it will allow the center console area to get really hot and heat up the cabin area.
air comes up/in through a hole in the leather around my shifter but it's not hot. The hot air is coming through the window defroster vent. Something somewhere is broke because I'll close the vent on my console but air still blows in.
Take the interior color and exterior color, flip them around, change the automatic trans to manual, and change the model year to 1987 and you've got my car!
i love the 944 i got mine for 2000 but it had a original motor. we switched it out for a refurbished 944 motor and it runs sweet the refurbished motor cost bout 2-3 grand so these cause are the best handlers and very cheap its the dream car... glad i never sold it

The fans works very well I have to say. I'll try the water wetter - do I put that into the coolant/anti-freeze resevoir?

I have the same problem with my 300zx and it's a pretty similiar car and I think It is that way for most sports cars.
