  • I went to see this, I remember the effects and certain moments (hobbits in the audience catching fireflies, spider shooting venom and the orcs on stilts doing flip=overs), but I couldn't remember a single song in it...which isn't really a positive thing because- you supposed to go home humming stuff- but I didn't.

  • @russellpatrickbrown Here here, Tolkien wished for all that, calling the continuation and the recreation of his great mythology is indeed naive, it is a mythology, a run of stories, he would be proud that his work has life, but some of this jargon has been foolish, it is only a mythology, and this production has shown it, or a little piece of it

  • I can remember going to watch this for my birthday. It was amazing. I still can't get over how amazing it was!!

  • One of the most GORGEOUS song EVER! I am a great lover of Lord of the Rings and other works of Tolkien and this has GOT to be the best thing I have heard, love Laura Michelle Kelly in this, to me, the definitive Galadriel! A great achievement, I listen to this, Wonder and the Final Battle all of the time and I find her voice like that of a goddess', one of my favourites, cheers for posting.

  • gettin' some chills here.

  • the composers are fkn liars and theives!!!!

  • @citizenjamie ummmm how?

  • actually u guys are giving this all credit. its a complete rip off of "lady of shallot" by Loreena McKennit....its so similar. this musica rips stuff off...

  • This is hands down the best moment in musical history.

  • oooohhhhmyyyyygoooossssh heeer voiiiiiiceeee!!!!!! <333333

  • lotd musical comming to fresno ahhh

  • I really hope this does return as a world tour! Even if they have to cut an act....

  • everyone simply has to love Laur Michele Kelly!

  • I have two questions: 1) Who sings in this version? 2) Why is it that no other version on Youtube has this ending? I LOVE this ending!

  • @venausar1 laura michelle kelly, and i have no idea, it insane beautiful!

  • @venausar1 This is the ending of the first lothlorien...the one on the CD is the one on the other channels and it's actually the ending of Lothlorien reprise so she sings that gorgeous theme while everyone is exiting her realm.

  • I find it annoying how critics didn't like the show. What did they expect? Huge special effects and battle scenes? Yes with shows on the theatre they can be beautiful and magnificient but there is a limit with what they can do.

  • To be honest, I dont know why people are moaning about this. The book for this musical was written at least a couple of years before the first film even came out. And just take a look at how amazing the staging and lights look, not to mention how brilliant the song sounds!

  • I think that they should've used Howard Shore's music!

  • Why'd this get canceled again?

  • Elvish pole dancers?

  • kind of loses its celtic and woodland feel..all of the over the top singing and over done make-up and get up ruins the basis of Tolkens story and concept. Lothlorien was mystical, quiet and enchanting, as was Galadriel. Elves were noble and mystical creatures. You would never walk into Lothlorien with elves hanging from trees, singing about it 'theatre style'...

  • @kimelene2011 lets see you put on a better production then if you have such a strong opinion on the matter.

  • @E7Horizon

Why would I want to put on a better production? It's obviously not meant for theatre, if this is what theatre does to it. Would a woodland elf look like this, let alone Galadriel? Would Galadriel wear a golden feather in her hair, whilst singing like she's auditioning for Annie? This production looks like 'A Midsummer's Night Dream' meets 'Cats' the musical meets Barnum and Bailey Circus. Peter Jackson nailed it.

  • @kimelene2011 you are right, but screw it.... it's beautiful...

  • 16 orcs didn't support their local forests.

  • why do they always hang on clothes in theatrical musical

  • Lord of the Rings was the most thrilling and exciting musical I've ever seen (3 times in the last week!) and to find this clip of the most beautiful staging in the whole show was the greatest surprise - so whoever you are - many, many thanks for uploading!

  • My favorite video on youtube! Laura Michelle Kelly gives me chills down my back, her voice is something you can't find again.

  • This musical was short lived

  • I love Tolkien and I love musicals so I would love a DVD and there is not one. Maybe before I die there will be one.

  • lol this kinda reminds me of how to fuck up a good story :) this will get thumbs down, but who cares! it's the truth

  • @Centration: No, just a reminder it is a stage adaptation. Book, film, and stage will all hit different audiences, the spirit of Tolkien's work is in all. You prefer the movie or book series?

  • @EverythingAustin well, i really like the movies but without the books there wouldn't even been a movie, and i've read the books and they're really good so i prefer the books, why? :)

  • @Centration: Trying to understand why you feel so strongly about the musical. It has its own particular kind of magic, something visual to watch without needing a TV screen. I think thats why I like this particular song and scene; someone had the imagination to think this up to interpret the books. I can see though that people would prefer the books so you can use your own imagination ;)

  • Thumbs up if you think this portrayal of the Lady of the Wood far outshines Cate Blanchett's!!!!! Cos it sure does!!!

  • @starXelfXyeshua

Agree, but I actually do think that Blanchestt was miscast as Galadriel. She looked middle-aged, not young like Galadriel is supposed to look.

  • This song gives me good memories :') ♥

  • She is amazing.:) She has played Mary Poppins.

  • When he joins at 150. He is out of tune. Still a totally amazing song tho.

  • correct me if im wrong, but is she the beggar woman in sweeney todd movie?

  • @mashovie Yup!

  • @mashovie Indeed she is :) ♥

  • Love it.... but I wish the start where Legolas sings was in this! His voice is absolutely stunning!

  • when the dude joins at 1:50 my heart stopped.

  • I love her voice and I love her! This is one talented woman!

  • I get massive chills every time I watch this. She is perfection.

  • wow. wish theyd do this show in NYC. it would probably do better than this spiderman fiasco

  • that is a gorgeous costume.... not to mention all that wonderfully choreographed acrobatic work... some day I hope to see this live

  • @HazugmondoBorasz .....fail.

  • @HazugmondoBorasz You're dumb. XD

Just because someone decides to do a more artistic perspective of LOTR, doesn't make it bad. This is beautiful, and just because there isn't action doesn't make this "crap".

  • @UnicornsAreTheShiz

It's not even fair to say there isn't action...this is one freakin' scene. Awhile back,. someone had Frodo's struggle with Gollum at Mount Doom and some of the Final Battle stuff up here, and the action sequences looked amazing.

  • Possibly one of the most stunning things I have EVER heard in my life.

  • this song not only captures the spirit of Lothlorien and Galadriel's heart, it magnifies it to such an incredible level of beauty and power

it's simply overwhelming and brings tears to my eyes - Tolkien's vision of Heaven on earth perfectly realized in song

  • @e5acf4

Agree. The show does have a few problems here and there, but Tolkien would have LOVED this part of the performance.

  • love it! this NEEDS to be set to DVD!!

  • @betheniek5 It really does i have been looking for it all over to watch the whole thing

do you know where i should go,

  • @Gackt43191 i have no idea. I would very much like the answer to that my self lol.

  • @betheniek5 Well darn

they should make one then hehehe

    cause this is Awesome!!!!!!

  • @betheniek5 Then they need to make one

I don't know if this is comment is coming out twice but oh well

    I LOVE LOTRM sooooo much

  • @Gackt43191 haha me too!

  • @betheniek5 i think its more exicting to go and see it live

  • TEARS OF JOY!

  • I saw this with my school in 2008. My first ever west end musical and it was SPECTACULAR! I loved every minute of it and I still remember it with happiness :)

  • It is such a pity that they don't perform it anymore in London. I had the luck of seeing this amazing musical in 2008, and it was probably one of the best experiences I have ever had at a live performance.

  • Epic! Love this song so much. I wish they would come to North America. That would be soo cool!

  • This musical is absolutely STUNNING! I saw it in London two years ago on a high school trip. Everything about this musical was incredible. The dances, the costumes, the actors, the singing, the songs, the sets etc. A.R. Rahmtan is a musical genius and I feel that he did Lord of The Rings justice with the music he created for this. Of course, Laura Michelle Kelly is a GODDESS and completely nailed this role. Overall, it was a fantastic show. Now I just wish it would come to the US! :D

  • Comment removed

  • Simply epic thanks to the great staging, light effects, harmony and so on... :)

  • I wish in the other videos, with this song in it's entirety, had this same ending...just with us hearing the girl singing a bit louder so we can hear what note she's hitting in the end.

  • This needs to reprise on Broadway.

  • Does anyone know where I can get the sheet music for this? I would be happy to buy it.

  • She is a multitalent! I love her in Sweeney Todd, too! My immortal Lucy!!! ♥

  • Did you record this yourself, or do they sell recordings of the show?

  • I WANT TO SEE THIS SOOOO BAD! I hope it comes to Broadway someday soon.

  • Laura Michelle Kelly is a goddess. I'm convinced.

  • Beautiful, that's the only word I can say about the this video.

  • blah the other lady looks to old and uptight. I'm glad this seems to be the more popular galadriel. she's really young for a queen but then elves are immortal so who knows if they ever really look older than 20... or 19? how ever old this actress is

  • i went to see this like 2 years ago, and it was also my first west end show that i went to see, i just had to go see it, as i am a HUGE TLOTR fan!!. and i honestly think it was AMAZING! cant wait for it to come back to London :D

  • @MelianEvenstar It's coming back to London?!?! I saw it 2 years ago also and LOVED it and my best friend never got to and is desperate to see it so I want to get him tickets. I read suggestions of its return to London but is it definitely returning now? Any idea when if so? =D

  • who is this character. she's not galadriel cause I've seen the other vids with galadriel in them and this isnt her so what other mystical matriarch of lorien is there which she is portraying? i never read the books so I wouldnt know and this is why I ask.

  • @bagonuts28 LOL! she is galadriel!! just played by another woman, and they changed the way she looked for the London Shows, the vids you have been looking at are of the Toronto Production, so it looks different.

  • @bagonuts28 Its Galadriel. The woman you saw was probably from the Toronto run of the show. This was the london run.

  • thumbs up if you want these songs on Spotify!

  • Words cannot describe how amazing this woman is.

  • amazing production

  • and just when you think LOTR couldn't get more epically amazing!

  • oh my god... this is AMAZING!

  • @ThomasJEvich This was my first west end show, and it was fantastic so beautfiul..I just cant understand why some critics were so harsh about it :)

  • @Superjazbo booo thoes brain dead critics obviously jelous!!!! ijm almost in tears

  • I think what gives me chills is that she can sing so beautifully while hanging like that. Amazing.

  • I saw the show in Toronto, and absolutely LOVED it, though the reviews weren't stellar :<

  • The way she builds up to that high note at 1:15 is amazing. What a great voice she has, and so beautiful to look at as well.

  • i miss this show so much

  • can you post the full show?? i never got the chance to see it but always wanted to

  • I loooooooooooooove at the end when she belts out the final note and you hear Legolas from the side almost cascading with it. GOODNESS i love this song!

  • I love LOTR didn't know there was a musical though. I'm sure the watch the other video's too.

  • I saw this live (stalls aswell!) It just gave me goosebumps throughout. It was AMAZING. It's such a shame I'll never see it again.

    D:

  • @typo711 Maybe at the 2011 international tour :)

  • @BENJADAMONBROADWAY

    When/where? :O

  • @typo711 We don't know yet, it's just written that an international tour is being made on the official website ^^

  • I don't know if I'll ever be ok with the fact that I was never able to see this musical...

  • Wow. This song truly made me a believer that the show could be great. I've been reading some reviews that said the show was no good though. :( However most people posting on here seem to love it. I'm definitely sold on the music at this point.

  • @jedihillis Whoever said the show isn't good is mad :s My friend has just finished a performing arts degree (so has seen her fair share of plays) and agrees this is the best show ever. Its amazing get to see it on the world tour when you can!

  • No offense, but the Bishop Luers Minstrels soloist (while incredible by high school show choir standards) in no way outsang this woman...transcendent!

  • You have got to see Bishop Luers Minstrels do this number. The high school girl truly out sang this girl. What a great number!

  • @CollegeBud22 no way did that college girl out sing laura!!!

  • I've seen it, and trust me, this song is even more amazing live!

  • I want to BE her. haha

  • i am BLOWN AWAY. wow what a beautiful and incredible masterpiece!

  • I saw this production in London and was amazed by how grand it all was. Great songs and performances. I loved it.

I believe they changed a few of the actors towards the end of the run, so it was good to see the original cast perform, including this lovely lady called Laura Michelle Kelly.

  • Oh. My. God.

That was... ridiculously awesome. Can you imagine how difficult it would be to swing around like that and sing like that at the SAME TIME?! D:

    I am in awe.

  • when are they gonna bring this to the US!!?!?!?

  • Seriously!!!!! I would pay good money to see this!!!

  • Wow, she is gorgeous! And her voice is amazing!

  • Oops, sorry typoes. i have a different translator thing, (mom got me it, must use!) so it says galaNdiel. but i guess your right. OH and whomever is chekcing the thumbs down on my comments. please stop, cuz i dont knwo why your doing it. its my free opinion.

  • @MrEdNorwood theres a 2011 tour? when??

  • @MrEdNorwood ???? it IS in english.

  • Oh yeah, I saw this in London. Best theatre I've ever been to.

  • This is the best song from the musical. Saw it twice wish it was coming back sooner than 2011!

Anyone who says they "Shouldn't have made a musical out of LOTR" should see it first before talking rubbish I'm a huge fan and the show (its not a muscial) blew me away!

  • its lady galandriel. from lothlorien. i worked with her for some time in my dramatic arts travels. XP only about a month or so. didnt "really" know her just mor elike "hey how ya doin?" kinda stuff. too many cast members! AK. i only really know her screen name though. never could catch real names, but i like screan names better anyway. poes that answer anything? O.o

  • Laura Michelle Kelly originated Galadriel in London. She's great! Right now she's Mary Poppins on Broadway. =)

  • She originated Mary Poppins here in London too! b4 it went to broadway =-)

  • Actually, it's Galadriel, there's no "n"

  • this doesnt sound like her best performance. she goes to deep on parts that should be high. wonderful non the less though glandry!!!!

  • can you maybe tell me who this is?she´s something from dianne pilkinton :)

  • karooyo, in the book it says that Galadriel's voice is deeper than average, so certain parts of the song should be deep.

  • my grandpa has passed away since two days, and I can't stop listening this.. very good song :D!

  • God I loved this show, i cant wait for it to begin the tour already in 2011!!!!!!

Saw it 3 times in London and it was not enough,I NEED MORE

  • she is AMAZING. O.0

the entire thing is just beautiful. :)

  • this is awe inspiring...

  • Comment removed

  • when was this?

  • Lucky!!!!!! i would give anything to meet laura. i think she is the most amazing singer of our generation, and as a singer i have made it my lifes goal to become half as good as she is. is she ever gonna be in a new show?

  • I just met Laura the other day and had NO clue she has such an amazing voice! Perfect.

  • Laura Michelle Kelly is amazing

and her voice is so beautiful

  • i met the guy that played gollum outside

  • LUCKY YOU :O

  • OMG! Am I crying?! It's just so beautiful!

  • this song is now my favourite song ever!! the music is gorgeous!!! xx why didnt i get to see it in london!! :@ Xx

  • Does anyone know where I can find the song from this musical called 'Saruman'? I am looking for the sheet music, and if I can't find it I will transcribe it myself, but I can't find the lyrics anywhere! The song is sung by Finnish group Varttina.

  • i cant believe it closed 1 year ago already. where does the time go? i had an amazing seat on closing night.

i would fly to the other side of the world to see it again

  • This was on at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, London in 2007/2008. As far as i know this is the only stage version of Lord of the rings apart from a pervious one in Canada which there is no official soundtrack for. The CD should be avaliable from amazon or similar sites or maybe iTunes. Some of the composers are A.R. Rahman, Varttina and Christopher Nightngale if you need to google it. Hope that helps.

  • I went to london and saw this play and wicked. it was incredible. still to this day i am madly in love with this.

  • I am working on translating the Lyrics of Silent Night into Elvish .

  • best musical i have ever seen.x

  • woo! go laura michelle kelly!!!

  • I love the fact it's not based on the cruddy films but on the incredible book!

  • This is actually kinda amazing. She's singing beautifully while dangling in the air

  • Why is it that every time they have a good franchise they have to ruin it with a shitty musical?

  • thank god!! DX im not the only one a tad pissed off..

  • There are several stories that I can envision as a musical, but Lord of the Rings is not one of them. In fact probably the only reason why it has survived this long is because it has flashy special effects. I mean COME ON!! IT'S AWFUL!! It's uninspiring, it's a terrible bore, it's a mockery of the original story by Tolkien, IT'S AN ABOMINATION!!!!!!
