they will take 2gb becuase when they were made they only had 512mb sticks out for the type of ram, seeing has they have 1gb modules now can use 2gb yay.
unfortunately theirs no door to the hard drive. the shell has to be taken off to get to it and the dvd drive. but theirs a big chance you could be shocked. leave it off for a couple days before taking it off
Hey- thanks for posting this. I have to do this for a client tomorrow and I was wondering what tools I might need. so rather than finding my apple dev credentials to find the maintenance docs, I found your vid. So- thanks for uploading this! And thank goodness for youtube.

by the way, 1GB isnt necessarily the maximum memory an emac will take...
i know the 1.42ghz model can take 2GB :)
possibly the later 1ghz model, but dont quote me on that

in the model i have (the 1 ghz.) the max is 1gb. the 1.25 and up have a max of 2 gb. but apple will say its only 1

i was worried that i had to remove the shell of the thing but thank god theres a little door for the memory.
i'm making the same upgrade and hoping this will speed up Flash video and overall speed for my mom, thanks again
