  • their genus, Homo, which is roughly 2.3-2.4 million years old. All of these FACTS have empirical proof in the archaeological record. I have yet to see proof of your sky fairies.

  • l man) both emerged from a common ancestor, Homo erectus, roughly 200,000 years ago. It is millions of years before this that modern humans' line of descent diverged from that of the modern great apes (one branch of the tree became humans, one branch became apes, with thousands upon thousands of steps in between). Humans are the only remaining extant species in

  • I figured I'd do my part for the day and contribute some evolutionary FACTS, which this comment section is seriously lacking. Homo sapien sapiens (humans) and Homo sapien neanderthalensis (neandertha

  • I don't know why, but if I was holding that thing, I'd have to slam it in the wall. I force myself never to be around them, or I'd hurt them.

  • hha i started doing it too. Im an idiot.

  • I'm a God's descendant; hello to all of you who insist in being monkey descendants.

  • that was good but...nah i prefer lolcats

  • i heard that white europeans evolved from the rhesus monkey...is this true?

  • @FuckUtube2008

    uh no.

All human evolved from a common ancestor over 7 million years ago.

  • @Zackerybob

    uh no.

All humans actually evolved from a common ancestor about two hundred thousand years ago. Why would you post something as a fact without knowing it to be true?

  • @haisey

My comment was referring to the common ancestor of the chimpanzee and human, which is estimated to be 7 million years.

You are referring to the actual split between homo sepians (modern humans) and other homos.

  • @FuckUtube2008

  • There's not that much going on here, I'd have been surprised if anything else happened.

  • There's not that much going on here, I'd have been surprised if the monkey did anything other than stare at yer man and copy his head movements.

  • I just started working at this lab. What a cool job.

  • So is this macaque supposed to showing signs of imitation? I love this sort of research, it's really forward thinking. :)

  • This is an example of a reflexive imitation capacity. Don't quote me, because I am just a research assistant, but they think this ability is a sort of precursor to the abilities mediated by the mirror neuron system in adult monkeys.

  • That's really interesting! You wouldn't happen to know the name of the paper by Ferrari et al would you? Thanks for the reply.

  • There's no way the monkey is trying to imitate. It's surprised when the human suddently starts opening the mouth, and the monkey is making nervous chewing movements. Not imitation!

  • lol, i agree
