  • Compare this scene... to the 'Dry Bones' scene from The Singing Detective....or for Dancer In The Dark's court scene...with the court scene from Pennies From Heaven.

  • An incredible movie...more incredible due to the fact I have never like Bjork ever! Now I've seen this I have to revise that attitude...I can't possibly imagine anyone else playing this role. That aside...I think Von Trier just has to have been heavily influenced by Dennis Potter...the intercut musical scenes remind me so much of Potter's musical works...like The Singing Detective, Pennies From Heaven, Lipstick On Your Collar etc. Simply a stunning film.

  • I wish they still made movies like this despite the sad and horrific ending they manage to have a message of hope,

  • Very good dancing and choregraphy and song....performed by Bjork and Catherine Deneuve (our french star!)

  • does anyone know where I can download this movie?

  • @DuniaCoveN It's well worth buying.

  • this movie gave me nightmares, especially last scene.

  • I need to get this film :D I've watched some of it before but I never got to see the ending, I'm distraught! :O So, I'm going to watch it all the way through without any interruption

  • Lars Von Trier is an GENIOUS.....He knows how a daydreamer thinks....

  • it dosen't have any fuckin' profanity

  • my mom was a dancer in this movie;)

  • that's awesome!

  • Cool, can you point out your mom in this scene?

  • @1995chipmunk awesome ! how did she get to be one because like i want to be fameous and im 12 and like singing music not from the music every1 likes now like pop,rap etc.

in english : these scene make me think about the possibility of one person to flee from his work or in general to a horrible situation.

  • Favorite scene

  • But... Its VERY high pitched =(

    Kyou!.

  • and Alice in Wonderland is proof that all one needs to safely fall into a 2km hole and survive is a fluffy dress.

  • Everything is musical. Awesome scene from awesome movie. Still, the movie is so damn sad it`s hard to watch peacefully.

  • It what I call the calm and beautifull moments before the storm.

  • I very loved this song!

  • Every time I use the cardboard baler at work, I imagine this song because of the sound it makes...such a brilliant movie and scene! CLATTER CRASH CLACK! haha

  • working in a factory must be hell

  • totalmente de acuerdo con g1074835.

  • I totally agree to the last comment by 1120apple. I watch it this pass Sunday for the first time and I could not turn. Bjork's voice is amazing. I have seen her on Saturday night and I must say she is very different. Love her style. The movie was very good although it was sad. This is a a purchase for me.

  • I have no Idea why , but I loved this movie. It brought an incredible sense of mortality to me. It made me realize how precious life is for some reason. Her voice was so unique ; her look even more unique. What an sad story. I would have never watched this movie by reading its description. It was late at night and I couldn't find the remote but soon I was somehow captivated by it.

  • This is the ONLY movie that made me cry T_T

    But it's awesomee!

  • ok, Catherine Deneuve can sing MUCH better than that!!!!! wtf?

  • lars von trier is really sadistic, but this scene is really amazing, the editing. oh and bjork too :) <3

  • When working in a paper factory I noticed some of the machines doing very interesting sounds, too, after a while. Sometimes rhythmic, sometimes "tonal".

    Luckily I didn't crash anything :).

  • Yeah, totally hilarious...

  • but she lived! she just made an album named Volta!! yay!

  • Your musical taste spans a huuuuuge spectrum. Not my style of movie but it definitely looks interesting.

  • No movie has ever made me cry so hard i get a little depressed everytime i think about it

I love Bjork with all my haert and soul

  • OMG SAMEEEE!!!!

  • omfg this is the only happy scene of this movie :( so beautiful Bjork!!

  • i love bjork!!!!

  • selmasongs is great

  • I love this movie but it's too depressing for me to watch again. :(

  • The song is called 'Cvalda'

I love this song. This film is the best movie Lars Von Trier has made. And this music is just another proof how flexible she is in music :D

  • She has been in a Jazz trio also!!

    Released, one album, Gling-Gló

  • Hey I saw this movie a long time ago and I had no idea this girl was a singer for real

  • Oh! most definitely she can sign, for real...!

  • this song is soo catchy

the thing bad about it is it keeps getting stuck in my head and i go crazy until i hear it o_0

  • what is the titel of this song?

  • It's called Cvalda, as sofiececilie said.

  • the soundtrack of this movie is really good, but the movie is sooo sad...the worst is knowing that these kind of things happend all the time...

  • This movie is amazing. I just loved it, though i must say, i don't think i'm ever gonna watch it again...it hurt me, it really did hurt me... great great movie. If you see it, it's guaranteed that in the end you'll be breathless.... Oh, and I LOVE THE SOUNDTRACK OF THIS MOVIE!

  • The movie is "dancer in the dark" from Von Lars Trier. It's a good movie music and drama.

  • wth

  • Good movie! One of my favorite songs from it.

  • I couldnt believe i got teary eyed at the end of this of dancer in the dark

  • does this movie have alot of cussing?

cause my parents wont let me get it if it does :[

i just loovee all the songs ive been hearing from it

  • I don't remember it having any profanity. That's interesting that seem to care about swear words as opposed to other things.

  • @lostluvr86 hope you finaly saw the movie! its such a great motion picture

  • @PsychoElou666 I have! I own it now too =]

  • @lostluvr86

No there is no cussing at all. Its a little violent, but only in two small scenes.

  • @lostluvr86 Nah, not that I remember...but it has some REALLY dark themes in it.

  • great movie

  • I can't stand how jealous I am of this woman! It's not like jealousy you have of one of your girlfriends or co-workers. She's such an allstar. blah blah blah. I can't live without Bjork. Well I CAN. Everytime I sing to her music, I find myself mimicking her facial expressions. Pretty funny if you see me driving and all that jazz. Bjork is my favorite allstar. YAY! "My spoon is TOO BIG!" <---- nothing to do with Bjork.

  • p.s. one of my favorite movies... it makes me cry everytime TOO. Lame!

  • love this movie

  • This was such a manipulative movie. I don't think I've ever cried so much before. Jeesh.

    Bjork so deserved the Cannes.

  • Brilliant film watched it in the cinema and I have the DVD also

  • I think this movie was the most beautiful movie I have ever seen,Bjork brought so much life to Selma and I have never cried so hard watching a movie.

  • i know it was soooo goood

and she is such inspiration and her life was so tragic

    and her voice in hypnotizing

i was about to et up after watching this one movie when this one came on

i said "okay i will give it ten minutes"

i ended up watching it back to back or four hours

my blatter almost burst. but i was worth it

  • this movie was like a stab in the stomach; I hated it but Bjork's performance was INCREDIBLE

  • OMG, that's exactly what I thought!

  • love it. beautiful song, beautiful movie...

  • really intense movie but a great 1 at that very sad!

  • Excelente pelicula.......

  • I DONT CRY FOR MOVIES... this is the ONE exception.

  • amo la pelicula T_T

    llore la ultima hora

    es demaciado buena

bjork se luce como actriz =)

  • I find myself "escaping" reality by my daydreaming too ~ there is a time and place for all things, of course, but when its safe, you might find me breaking out in to song and dance. Thank you, Bjork, for reminding us that freedom is just one stomp-hop-shuffle-step away at any time.

  • A bloody depressing film.

  • My favorite movie of all time.

  • IMO - in the depths of her despair, her character finds music in the sounds of the machines. She's able to escape by daydreaming. Brilliant!

  • i adore this movie! i love björk!!!

  • this is brilliant

  • this reminds me of a movie by Eisenstein that showed people as a machine imitating communism. I find it funny that the same type of element is played here. Do you think there's a connection?

  • you should ask lars von trier

  • bjork ven a mexico

    te necesitamos tus fans jaja

    buena caNCION

  • no se llama new world se llama Cvalda!

  • dancer in the dark its the best movie that i`ve ever seen

  • indeed!

  • I'm from the ex-Czechoslovakia but I've never heard the word Cvalda before this...what does it mean btw?

  • So am I. And I also don´t understand.

  • It's probably Icelandic. Don't rely on me for that though.

  • Cvalda was my favourite song there-the last song is also amazing but it's too sad because they hung her at that one.

GRacias

  • I cried my eyes off with this movie...It's simply amazing! I wish I could have the DVD, to watch anytime I wanted.

  • Seen it in the cinema, have both the album AND DVD

  • gorgeous clip ! and "wonderlust" movie ;)

  • Best movie ever!!!!!!

  • i LOVE this movie!

    :]

    the end though! wow.

  • I was so mad what happen to her at the end!!!

  • The movie makes you think and consider the full inhumanity of captital punishment. It was a great movie and it did make you angry. You kept rooting for poor Selma.

  • I LOVE this movie!! Thnx!!

  • I've never seen this movie but it looks also.

Also, I know they tried to make Catherine Deneuve look frumpy, but it didn't really work--She's too beautiful.

  • err... "awesome"

    :)

  • i loved this movie my high school band did this as our theme for our show it is very good the music is absoltuley wonderful

  • Thanks for posting this video, This is my all time favourite film.

  • One of the best parts of a fantastic work. Thanks for sharing.

  • Never seen this movie, but I've always wanted to. Judging by this, it seems very unique.

  • I cried really hard in this movie lol. Her voice make the songs that much happier or intense!! I just love this movie I can't say it any other way :]

  • This movie was manipulative, heavy-handed and mawkishly sentimental, but I'm glad I saw it. Bjork is amazing and the musical/industrial scenes such as this one were fascinating.

  • And the last time I cried for a movie was the Lion King when I saw it around the age of 10. This is the only movie that's brought me to tears since then.

  • Bjork had no acting experience when they chose her for this movie. She fitted the part so perfectly, it's like she didn't need any acting experience. I <3 Bjork.

  • I DONT CRY FOR MOVIES... this is the ONE exception.

  • this is...by far one of my favorite films.

  • Movie that made me cried, whaaaaa....but its very good one huh....really amazingly good stuff....right,ideal plastic?!!

  • she said that she would never do another movie again

  • It would've been awesome if Bjork could've gotten an Oscar nomination for her performance, as well. Love this movie! :)

  • an absolute delight

  • cool

  • nice

  • This movie is FANTASTIC! From beginning to end, perfection, in one word.!

  • amazing ! nothing else to say !

  • This movie was great, though I'll never watch it again! The soundtrack is amazing...gotta love Bjork.
