Do want to mention real quick that some of those features were funnel clouds. I did a little research to figure out where the reports were that day. There were other chasers around, and they saw funnel clouds too. We're not completely stupid
Did you just miss what I said? I brought my dad along who had years more experience than me. We shouldn't be arguing about this anymore anyways as I have a little more night-time experience to me. You will no longer see me freaking out over a "rainshaft" (i know thats what it is now, but at that time we were fooled. You got to remember, a funnel cloud was reported around this time too so were were led to believe there was a funnel there)
I will be honest and say i, at this point, had no idea how to night spot which is why I brought my dad along. He had much more experience than me so i felt more comfortable. We've done more and more chasing so no more worries that i'll "dumb" to you guys and not know what i'm doing. Its a learning process, which i'm sure you guys have gone through too. You guys didn't know right off the bat how to night tornado chase
Euy vey. I'm sure you guys would be saying the same thing if you were there. It was hard to see and this thing had produced tornadoes earlier. A funnel cloud was produced around the time of this video so we're not exactly stupid
Ok well we know that now (duh). I'm sure if you were there too, it looked suspicious. And the fact it had produced the Kirksville tornado made me even more suspicious. Did I mention it was dark? Hard to see when it's dark!
Don't have a myspace one, but we do for Facebook! If you search up Midwest Storm Chasers and Researchers on Facebook you should find us. There is 2 on accident though, so make sure you join the one with more status updates
I was worried when the storms got into Illinois so close to dusk. Had the storms got into the area sooner, we would have seen a tornado (most likely). Maybe next year!
Nice, I will add you as a friend. Also, you can track us on Spotter network or radarlab. We transmit location data under my callsign: WX9TOR. Look for us during the next decent chase day. We can get together for it.
We were on the storm in Kirksville and Edina and intercepted a multi-vortex wedge. that trunked out before becoming rain wrapped. Wish you were there. There were 15 other chasers with us. May be next time.
I wish we would have left a couple hours earlier. I called out Kirksville earlier in the day...but we figured it would be too far away. Guess I should had been more adament :-P
I have a facebook page for MIDSCAR now, so you can have fairly constant updates on where we are during a chase
this girl is so annoying talking on her! just shut up for once

But just because someone near you saw a funnel does not mean what you are looking at is a funnnel.

which is exactly why I did not chase at night until I knew what I was doing. Is this really that hard of a concept?

that's why you don't chase, especially at night, if you have no clue what you're doing.
Also, the chick's gotta be the most annoying narrator I've ever heard.

I think its really cool that a family goes and chases together! I try to get my parents to join me but they sort of scared of them, lol.

Is that the same thing as GRLevel3? We're making the switch from Weather Defender. Not really happy with the program
