@ChillMood11 oh really? i agree with you going from 200 to 265 in short notice is bad for your body DUH. but you obviously dont know anything about Overeem. when overeem fought at 205 in PRIDE fc, he walked around at 235-240 (source, he said so himself and his trainer as well) he had to starve and dehydrate himself to make weight. then, he bulked up to 255 in about a year, which is only 20 pounds. with his genetics etc, thats fine. now he walks around at 265. if you disagree youre an idiot.
@KitchenSpeclol Like i said comparing 205 overeem to hulk overeem has no comparison. I dont care what he did to get to that weight its slowing down his speed and to get up to lets say a dos santo, and velasquez speed is impossible for him. Dos santos and velasquez walk around naturally with that weight hence explosive speed that heavy weights are at. Guarantee overeem has so much mass the man cant even be as flexible as he used to be.
@ChillMood11 his style of fighting he makes every shot count. he has superior defence which means that he can just cover up with those biceps and wait for the perfect time to attack. watch his fight with ben edwards. every time he would attack, ben edwards would go down. he doesnt use speed as much as the other guys becuase he may not be quick with his combos, but hes extremely explosive and he's the heaviest hitter in all of MMA or K-1. watch him train, you will be surprised how quick he is.
overeem would destroy carwin and brock, cain is a diff story because he knows how to react to hard strikers and can take hits without going into panic mode.
@TheEviIOyo And how do you know Cain only fought 9 times dont be dumb only because he Ko an old leyend hes the best HW in the world haha same Mistake of Brock against Randy Couture only 3 wins and the best HW of the world and UFC champion hahaha
Cain is good but he has a long path to go if it was me he ld be like top 20 he's only a beginner in that world
Don't get me wrong Overeem is a great fighter with his muay thai. If he catches anyone with a strike they are in trouble. However,Overeem has 2 ,main weaknesses. First off he doesn't fight with heart, and he can't overcome adversity. He isn't as durable as Brock & Carwin. Overeem has a suspect chin. He hasn;t fought any oustanding HW yet. Brock, Carwin, Cain, Dos Santos, Fedor, Verdum are at the top of the food chain. He must fight atleast some of them to gain credibility as a HW.
@Uppercut416 First of all, Overeem is one of my favorite fighters. He has a great personallity on and out of the ring. But i agree with the "glass jaw" of his. Ive seen him get rocked by a few not so hard shots, but they were right on the button. Other than that, i think Overeem would SMASH Lesnar. Lesnar is a big guy and a hard hitter im sure, but in the clinch Overeem would devestate him, Lesnar shoots in to crazy not to catch a knee. But it would be a TERRIFIC fight.
Unless if he goes to the UFC, there`s not much competition. In the UFC he will be tested. The test against Brock is someone who`s a stronger opponent, and who can take opponents down at will. Brock is not stupid to stand with Overteem. Brock will just shoot in or grapple and take it to the ground. Overeem has never faced NCAA wrestling champs. I think even Cainwould be a tough opponent. Cain`s the only HW with amazing cardio & a relentless pace. Don`t forget Carwin, Dos Santos & Mir.
@Uppercut416 I think Overeem beats everyone but Cain and (maybe) Brock or Carwin. That latter two have insufficiently technical striking. When you know your opponents only tactic will be to shoot for takedowns, you can take measures to prevent it. With Overeem being a grappling stud and very strong himself, I'd also give him a good chance at standing up if taken down. So who knows? Interesting matchups, certainly...
Alistair Overeems weak points. 1. Ground escapes and taking over dominant position. 2. Glass chin. Alistairs strong points: 1. world Class striker.2. Kneeing ( I think he got the strongest knees of the world. ) Rogers weak point: 1. Fat 2. Slow. Rogers strong points: 1. KO power 2. strenght So who will win...?
overeems weekness is when he is taken down-here is training but his partner is passive, he has dangerous subs, but his wrestling and escapes from guard needs work. if he trained with big nog u'd see major progress
@IrishKyokushin European grappling is light years behind North American Grappling my friend. Verdum schooled him in BJJ skills. NCAA Div 1 wrestlers are very good at takedowns and securing ground control. If Brock or Cain gets Overeem on his back, he ain;t getting up. Mir, whpo;s BJJ skills are far superior to OVereem couldn;t do anything with Brock on top of him.
you wrote that two years ago and it became reality. Overeem has improved tremendous and he took it to CroCop. It was a NO CONTEST, so let's see the rematch in December
meanwhile Overeem would be too much for LHW/MW as well
Yeah it was only a matter of time. He's easily one of my top 5 heavyweights in MMA today. Look at how he destroyed one of K-1's best fighters in Badr Hari. Easily too.
haha i see you made that prediction 3 years ago. good call! now he's the meanest heavyweight there is, and his next fight, or the one after it will actually be against fedor, depending on how fedor does against brett rogers
@slingstone you got it fucking right my friend! you should be proud of yourself, he is a fucking beast now and finally starting to get some recognition and serious success
@slingstone And now we see today that your prediction was absolutely correct (even better than Fedor now, but Fedor's days are obviously behind us now so yeah). I think this guy is probably the best HW in the world right now. The man is enormous, strong, and athletic. This guy won the 2010 K-1 Grand Prix, his striking is unmatched by any current HW including Cain. Ground game isn't too bad either.
Side note: How about you pick my next lottery ticket numbers?
@slingstone your prediction came true Bro, soon to be Heavyweight champ very very soon. You are wise and smart you could Bcome a promoter or manager you see the future and you are able to read a fighter.
if you dont like streching after a workout, call overeem, he'll do it for ya,
eh ye...

@KitchenSpeclol To think moving to heavy weight from being naturally at 200 is normal then you have no clue on fitness and training.

This cat will be a darkhorse in the HW division
in LHW/MW he seems a little too slender and
unbalanced to dominate there but HW is his natural
comfort as exhibited against Kharitonov and
Overeem's game gets better and better and better
with every fight he goes into. Say what you will
but even if he's not up to Fedor's level he could
take it to some of the other heavys big time.
