does vista really screw it up? Dang i thought vista just hated Itunes... that may be why some people online (like you) show an 8800 gts (like mine) playing on super high just fine while mine put-puts along and then dies a horrible death... hmmmm... stupid vista lol

P.S. I know there isn't a super high setting unless you get the mod which would LITERALLY kill my comp

ROFL, thats cause windows XP is enigible of running DX10 Which is alot better looking, and then requires more of youre system, he is running crysis in DX9 <.<

@cyber3dg crysis doesnt "use" dx10 code...its programmed to only allow very high settings (the setting that "needs" dx10) when vista (or win 7) is detected, why do you think u can run very high on xp (dx9) and itll look the same as vista very high? the only thing dx10 does to crysis is slow it down

@cyber3dg DX9 Very High - DX10 Very High.....No Difference. This is a well known fact, all 'DX10' settings in Crysis can be rendered in DX9 at very high settings which are unlocked via editing .txt files.

I'd say Vista is the worse for gaming, regardless of the specs... you shud try xp.

I tried vista with a quite hi end pc, and it really sucked the life outa my games. downgraded to xp... and voila!...perfect :)

@Alexjme I have a normal PC ,nothing high end , just a budget gaming rig (8800 gt , x38650 , 4 gb ddr2) and if i switch to xp , it isn't just the gaming that doesn't "perform" as it does on Vista/7 , it's also the overall pc experience.

In xp i get errors with my browsers , drivers and so on. On Vista/7 , just perfect!

XP is gone man , people should accept this.

@Alexjme yes but the main reason why your games played better on xp is because xp downgrades the video quality to direct x 9 where vista is direct x 10/11 so overall games look better :)

Right, here's my problem. My computer is very decent yet I struggle to get an average of more than about 45fps on crysis @ very high. How the hell is it that just about everybody on youtube runs it amazingly on hardware that isn't as good as mine?

vista 64 bit (maybe its vista, lol)

core i7 920 @ 3.3GHZ

p6t deluxe v2

2 x GTX 295

6 gb DDR3 @ 1600mhz

are you running the 64 bit EXE? if you run the 32 bit crysis exe it has to run in 32 bit emulation mode, which will slow it down a fair bit. also, make sure you have sli enabled, update your drivers etc

You guys need to stop running Crysis in 2gb of ram. You need to upgrade to double-dual channel 4gb or more. You'd be amazed how much performance you'd get out of it...

no, hes saying the core 2 architecture is beastly, which it is. Until the core 2 architecture amd was in competition. Now no way. Especially with the i7... Not hating on AMD. I have e8500 and am LOVIN' IT. lolzor. Next build will deff be core i7

The Core 2 Duo series kicked ass. I have a Core 2 Quad, and compared to its older architecture, it is day and nite, so fast. Even the Dual Cores are ridiculous.

Very good card. Paid £66 for it ($110 approximately) And it runs superbly. Even on a 375 Watt power supply. I want the card to last at least a year, so what else can I upgrade for a performance boost in games?

Not much - I just upgraded from the 8800 gts 320mb to a 4850 for 150 pounds. Its incredible - I gained 30 fps in all games.

Higher than what? It's all custom variables in the config files you silly people... graphics don't just change in fidelity by just some "magic" in-game settings... ¬_¬
