@vicioussource I thought your video looked good - your panning and zooming btw are very steady (great job!) I also like the scenes, its like being there, I enjoyed watching it. As far as the video quality, the only difference I can see is the brightness. Maybe because I shot during really bright summer days (when I lived in the US), and I don't know about Ontario, but here in Vancouver, BC its been gray and dull a lot! :( Cheers - thanks again for sharing, I enjoyed it!
@bootsluzer Hey, the ONLY post processing was a little stabilization (they were all hand held shots, so I had to minimize those shakes a little bit) other than that, the quality, the colors, It's out of the box!
@ADVERTlSEMENT The s10 and s100 is the same camera, only difference is the s10 has 32 internal memory and you also add a memory card. The s100 does not have an internal memory but you can add a card up to 64 bit i believe maybe higher.
@xtristanx55 haha. Funny enough I was living in the US when I bought mine but I now moved to Vancouver. And I bought mine from Broadway Camera (on west broadway) *in* vancouver, so I suggest keep looking at your local camera stores!
@Lewis3947 I'd say BestBuy... idk, maybe look around for the best deals online. I bought mine from a camera store. Good luck! Sorry dont have much to suggest about where to buy it.
@fox94109 SWEET! I thought it looked like Washington! I live in Issaquah (about 15 miles East from Seattle) on the plateau. I have to say that Washington is one of the best places to film outdoors. Not to mention, I thought I noticed Mt. Rainier!
@SBxxxStudios I lived in Birch Bay, Ferndale and Bellingham for a year and a half, and yeah it's nice. That's Mt. Baker in the video, which I miss seeing everyday!
What this video shot from a tripod or freehand? I am interested in the camera's image stabilization capabilities as I am not pleased with my current camera's capabiliites?
@rainmaker1000 freehand and tripod. the stabilization will not be as good as commercial grade cameras with bigger bodies, but this one is good, especially when you're zooming in and out, even while moving left and right.
Note too that certain clips have been enhanced with software stabilization, like the one iMovie has. Good luck!
omg its so hard, im choosing between a canon 550D dslr camera and this one, but i just cant choose! both have amazing video quality, the 550D has a brilliant DOF because its a photocamera, and you can buy new lenses later on. but this one has better autofocus and of course features you only have on a camcorder. oh god its so hardD:
hey there! thanks for the sharing the images. i might just buy this one. have two questions- 1) what's the max number of hours that you can record on it on best quality? 2) how are the shots for nigh photography or low light? thanks!
@lanko1, oh i dont know. im myself undecided. but im leaning towards picking something from the canon vixia series- HF S11 looks pretty good- starts at around $950. btw, i just wont buy sony as they tend to tie everything with sony products. you can also check some of the reviews at camcorders>toptenreviews>com backslash hdv replace > with dots.
I don't understand why everybody is so excited over this camera. The video quality is good, but not exceptional either. It is also way overpriced for what it offers...my company bought three of these and returned them all.
Very nice video! I have this camera and it takes AMAZING video and low light quality blows my mind (if you know how to use it of course). But I was wondering if you were just using the manual focus for all your "depth of field" shots, because they looked very well done and I was wondering if you might of used a 35mm adapter. Great job by the way!
@kylenieber THANKS! I didnt use an adapter and I assigned the custom button/dial for manual focusing so when i want manual focus its easy to get to. Enjoy your camera!!!
Thanks for this video. i am planning on buying the new HF-S21 that is coming out this april, but needed some test footage from the same line of models to make my final decision.
I just posted a video response shot with this camcorder from another account, hopefully you'll approve it. Not nearly as good as this, it was just something quick I made. This seriously inspires me, especially that dandelion shot. So far, I'm loving this camcorder too. On another video, a lot of people were complaining about it, but they're crazy. Looking for a new camcorder? You should get this one! You'll love it too(:
i am sold on this camera!!!! I am going to buy it as soon as I get my new job!!!! Screw getting an HVX200 that will cost me $5000. That first shot sold me on it! Can you attach lenses from slr cameras to it because the lens is so big? If so I can't wait to see this thing in 35mm!!!
i know you can attach lenses (wide angle, macro, etc...) not sure about lenses for DSLR. it is however 58 mm. I think the EOS T1 has 58mm lens too. Mine are 72mm.
When I import I choose (under "Optimize Video" in iMovie 09) "Full = Original Size" The only other option is "Large = 960x540"
The picture is clear because.. well, it really was CLEAR when the camera recorded it! ;)
Uploading to YouTube is a cinch too. It's part of the sharing options in iMovie, so its really a no brainer, i just tell iMovie my YouTube sign in account so it knows where and what quality to post it.
Hey thats great. I have been reading up on the HFs10 for a while now and am buying this for myself next month. Have you tried exporting to a movie file yet? I guess the best way would be via Quicktime with the h. (something) codec?
Your video is great. Maybe with such a good cam you should go to final cut express? That's gonna be my next move
I'm pretty sure it's .mov. Unless it gets rendered differently after transfering to my computer. The reason I say that is when I render the final video in full HD with no compression, it's a .mov format not .dv as I'm used to with my previous vidcam. Hope that helps
that would be awesome! and it sounds reasonable. i say go and let them know! its a great camera and should be around for a long time! maybe a Canon HSF10w! Good luck and let me know!
Thank you and since this is my first time buying a video camera I think I will be happy with the HFS10 because let's face it, I am not going to be using all the features from the S11 because I would not know how to use it. Once I get used to this one, I can buy a newer when they come out with it.
YES it is a great camera. looking at your choices it would be similar anyway, its not like you are picking this versus a COMMERCIAL PROFESSIONAL HDV camera like a canon xma1. its like you're picking a model from 2006 versus one from 2008. obviously the new one will have better features and more improvements. good luck
nice work! Have you begun to play with the aperture settings yet? The depth of field of this cam is incredible! Also, try some motion shots with blur...cool effects. Peace
it is wowing me.. i am going to save so i can buy it.. i do have the vixia hf10 at 2.3 megapixel but this is so amazing.. u feel like you are there in the picture..
Hey thanks! I didn't use an external mic, and around 1:18, it was really windy and i was zoomed in. It is normal for consumer cam like this, but i think if i used an external with a zeppelin that would not have been an issue...? anyways, i like the cam! for just fun, regular shots, theres no need to take out my dslr, cause this has 8mpx and produces good quality pics!
i have - and im really surprised. im used to my old sony that couldnt take videos in the dark (its an older mini-dv cam) but since this one has MANUAL settings you're able to adjust the AV (open it wider) or the TV (to give it a flickering/strobe effect). The AUTO does a great job too. I will try upload vids soon, sorry just getting busy with stuff.
I shot some footage of my home town on the same camera. However I don't think my shots look nearly as good as these!
