so i have been wondering......how the hell are you guys so damn good? is it size? practice? what do you guys do differently than what i do at my high school? what is your guys' practice schedule? do you have practice cards? please help me out on this question. i would love to improve and i feel like the advise could really help me out.

Im from Lafayette in KY, we are really hoping to make GN finals this year. Gosh, watching this, itd just be such an honor to be in any finals with you all. This is a great show, and I think a strong contendor from #1 again!

Avon Marching band what else can you say except a freaking amazing band! Im from Marietta Georgia ( March in the Walton Marching Raider Band) and really enjoy seeing whatever you guys put together every year!

Fridays99, i agree with you. Im not denying that Avon is great, but there are lots of good shows this year, especially Carmel and LC, though Carmel isn't doing ISSMA.

And size doesn't mean anything.

Don't be cocky, there are a lot of great groups this year such as Lawrence Central or Homestead. I forget if Carmel is doing ISMAA this year... Don't count your chickens just yet.

lawrence should have won at plainfield they were much better. having 250 ppl in your band does not make you good

Lawrence Central is depending too much on their pit and guard this year. I was at Plainfield also and I noticed the marching part of the band hardly played and what was played was drowned out by the synthesizer voice overs. I prefer to hear the instruments played clearly and not a bunch of jumbled notes all rushed together and on top of each other. I enjoyed all the other bands though.

I can agree to an extent though I think LC plays enough. That being said, I was spoiled last year! I really loved their playing and they gave us LOTS of it! I was hoping for the same this year, but they always have a great product by the season's end.

As someone said before, the Barber symphonies are really popular with marching ensembles for some reason. Anyways, Jay Webb should be complimented on just getting well over 200 high school aged people to commit to something as intense as symphony no. 1 on the field.

Lawrence Central played this for their 2002 show! Watch the video on here and compare! The Barber Symphonies have probablly been played alot in band repetiore for years. Lets see how Avon continues to interpret this music in their 2009 show! Yay Indiana high school marching bands! Lets take nationals AGAIN!!
