I wish they would release this, i remember waiting with baited breath for martha quinn or jj jackson to play anything off this concert. i'm assuming mtv filmed the whole thing. does anyone know for sure. its always the same four songs. lets finally see the entire show. hey the fans fucking deserve it. it's a ultimate classic in my opinion. more old vh footage. please eddie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd rather see the full 1981 pro footage - assuming that it in fact exists - than pretty much any other live show, past or present. Release it NOW!!! (please...)
Can't believe there's not better footage out there of a band as big as CVH! Trust me, I've seen everything on youtube, and there still should be A LOT MORE!! where the hell are they, sisters?
Eddie should seriously think about releasing all their unreleased songs. OMG these were better than most of their albums. In this day and age, he could completely bypass the whole record label thing....(leeches) and do it like Trent Reznor did with an internet album.
if you were luck enough to attend the madison square garden date you could get your dick sucked right up the street in times square. no not me i was only six
I think its a great tragedy that this era of VH career wasn't well documented and were left with this kind of garbage to remember them by. I guess no one at the time knew how important they would be to us today.
I got some good news and bad news for you "hummarstra". VH did film the whole 81' tour. Plus selective footage of the 80'. 79', 78' tours. They were planning on doing a for example; The Who's "The Kids Are Alright" documentry movie. They have hundreds (maybe thusands!) of hours of never before seen footage of the classic era's including 82' & 84' tours. But record company pressure and the demand for new material put that on the shelve.
Heh, heh... Oakland 81...the one with "Unchained" "Hear About it Later" and "So This is Love"... I've seen the whole show on DVD...Pete Angelus has it, he used to work with VH and later, Dave...There's been talk FOREVER about releasing it....
Did you also hear that Pete Angelus is back in the fold with Van Halen? Hope it's true, because it means all the old crew is back with Van Halen!! That's great news about the whole show of Oakland 81 tour, I really hope they mix, master and release it, it's classic Van Halen at their raw best!!!
@Champane97 yes he is.....Pete is a dick though...he is nothing but a "yes" man to dave.....he was in daves videos only.....I know him because back then I worked with them......Pete is a cancer to Van Halen....he is a leech
@EVHguitarz didn't know that. I guess being a Van Halen fan from down under land, we weren't privy to the VH folklore back in the day. We're only finding out about VH rumours & stories now because of a wonderful thing called the internet!! lol
Well, all I can say is "they need to get that shit off the shelves," because those of us who love classic Van Halen could make the record company some money if they would put that stuff out on DVD. Dumb asses
For your information Van Halen & Warner Brothers have never seen eye to eye. Van Halen purely got signed because of their popularity!! Remember WB came to them. I suggest you should listen to Eddie's 1982 interview (that's on utube here!). Eddie reveals of how little Warner BRothers did for Van Halen, yet Van Halen were selling more than their priority artist!! So I guess maybe thats why VH havent released much vintage stuff, politics with WB if you know what I mean?
Let's put it this way, if ever VH were to do a Anthology (The Beatles type) it will be MASSIVE!! But it seems with this current tour success and the bright future ahead, it will take some time before anything from the past is released/remastered. As VH said "Meet us in the future not the pasture"!! Anyway I'm just glad VH are BACK ROCKIN!!!
I'd say within the next 10 years! It took The Beatles Anthology over 30 years to surface, with all the law suites and resentment to each other. VH have taken that to a whole new level!! Still a lot of water needs to pass under the VH bridge, don't ya think? Just enjoy it that VH are back playing and making new music again. Can't wait for the new album!!!
P.S. Keep Sammy away let him stay at the Cabo Wabo!!

From all the bootlegs I've seen _ '79 and '81 were the strongest tours. They were just soo on top of their game
