Very nice computer ! Usually 2 mb of Ram and 40 mb HD. I am now nearly 25 years after typing from a iMac with 4 Gb of Ram (2000 times more) and 1 Tera Hd (25.000 times more).
That display was 512 x 342 = 175.104 @ 1 bit. Today my 27' is displaying 2560 x 1440 = 3.686.400 (only 21 time more...).
@pablof59 This was basically almost the same kind of computer as my first computer (The true one was an SE/30), and here I am almost 15 years later typing on this awesome MacBook Pro! (Though I still prefer my PM7500 with Ubuntu 10.10 on it) The wonders of how technology evolves and changes :D
I have a Mac "Plus" in a custom case, Atari ST monitor, Mac 512 motherboard, SCSI Hard Drive addon card, Mac Plus ROM, homemade powersupply and internal 120MB HD from a Performa 460. Sadly, I fried the keyboard when I tried to repair it with a cheap soldering iron.. I'm thinking of making a "translator thingie" using a microcontroller so I can use the keyboard from the Performa 460..
I just looked it up. That's possible in the SE/30. I have one, but I think I screwed it up. I happened to replace it with the wrong motherboard >.> Hopefully, I can fix that up and give it back the old motherboard, and try that :)
Did you add that HD activity LED to the machine? As far as I know, Macs never had Hard Disk activity lights on them, the last Apple computer I saw that actually had a disk access light was the Apple IIe or Apple IIGS.
@Lachlant1984 The SE most definitely did support HD activity LED. I saw them on a bunch of SEs (all with an internal HD; the versions with two floppy drives didn't have them) in the late '80s. Most I saw were orange but have seen a few green LEDs.
keep this. This is a classic and the best computer I ever had. It was about 5 0r 6 years ago that the hard drive failed and I had it replaced with a SE/30 hard drive. However, it lasted for me about 18 years. I got it when it was three and it started in less then 10 seconds. They just don't make computers like they used to.
@BlastedToast Indeed. I own one meself, and it is honestly the least frustrating piece of technology I own, aside from my '80s TV set, my '50s console radio, and my Famicom. After 20 years, it still runs strong, and I can play Mac Cricket and Test Drive 2 without trouble, and I am working on making it internet-enabled, so that I can surf the web with it.
Why do people hardly ever speak when showing off their vintage computers? An audio commentary would help, since often it's hard for us viewers to see what's going on on the monitor!
Yeah, sorry about that. I may be just around fifteen, but I never liked the way I spoke. My voice hasn't changed very much for three years, so now I'm stuck with the belief (Not the fact) that I sound like I'm 11, which I never liked.
Thanks. I should take that to heart. Heck, I may as well redo some of these videos. And I might see if I have the time to display my Quadra 650, the Mac IIsi, the Mac SE/30, maybe one of my Mac IIci's, and the Mac Plus (once it comes in)
acctually that was the macintosh se/30 the first macintosh with a hard drive buit in

No, I didn't. I believe my father did, though. But I'm not very sure.
