One of my top 10 ever Quo tracks. After many attempts Andy Bown came up with the guitar riff that made it "work" - that's why he plays the guitar and The Rev Rock Parfait is on piano
Normally Quo Do Great Berry Covers Like Bye Bye Johnny & Carol But Sadly This Dont Float My Boat, But Thats Just My Opinion I Know People Like This & Other Quo Covers, But Dont Stop LP Isnt My Cup Of Tea, I Dont Mind Quo Doing Light Songs Like Marguerita Time & Little White Lies & Tongue Tied But This Stuff Is No No For Me!
Dunno Nigey..,Quo were considered a joke by some in the 1970s and 1980s!
I take your point though...recording material like this wasn't a particularly shrewd move musically, although it certainly was from a business perspective - the album this track is from shifted bucketloads!!
Thankfully, Quo returned to their roots in 1999 with 'Under The Influence' and released their best album in 20 years with 'Heavy Traffic' in 2002.
I agree Quozone. Having been a Quo fan since 1973, it was painful witnessing the transformation in the 80s from rock band to pop artists. The 90s were worse though, with just two albums - 'Rock 'Til You Drop' and 'Under The Influence' being worthy of the name 'Status Quo'.
It's a shame that Quo didn't adopt the attitude of AC/DC and refuse to compromise their musical style. AC/DC remained true to their roots while Quo 'experimented' with pop songs, prostituting themselves in the process.
I think the money factor influenced them greatly too.
I was hugely disappointed with the songs that were selected for the Don't Stop album...too many lightweight pop songs. It's not that I object to cover versions, just the choice of songs that made it onto the album. There are so many other rocking tunes that could have been 'Quoed up'.
omg!! it sounds so happy!! love this song!!! <3
its such a same that in this century just a few artist can do real music =/

Exactly, utter bollocks doesn't begin to describe how bad this is - how could they lower themselves like this.

Sadly I think their ex manager RIP led them down this path and they couldnt be bothered to fight it.
