Way to go, Bryan Jay. Why is that what you say makes such sense and that so many there do not see it? Perhaps we understand because we have seen the reality of Woxy go out of business...twice! For its small size, Woxy has had a huge influence on independent music and helping new music emerge.
Bryan did an EXCELLENT job at explaining this. His situation is much like my own, except his station actually has some income although small. Most Internet Radio Stations make little to no money. This is not the industry that SoundExchange should be trying to suck dry.
What most people don't know is that SoundExchange's roots are in the RIAA (major labels), and still owes most of $7 million that the RIAA loaned them- not an impartial collection organization. It should not even be allowed to collect royalties. And speaking of major labels, they and the RIAA have spent hundreds of thousands in political donations to color the votes of candidates and political officeholders. How can a small mom and pop station or even a large webcaster fight political bribery?
Bryan, congrats! You did a great job, for the sake of so much and so many this had better hold some positive influence.
PS. I think this is the first time I have ever seen you in a suit!
