  • Human beings are never satisfied...myb they shud stop updating OS...that shud shut these stupid comments!

  • most vista users are happy?

  • Lol they got below 9 out of 10. fail...

  • Bleh

  • loll why Steve Ballmer didn't talk that they had a couple of percent of the apple company so if Apple do money than Microsoft too and Microsoft helped Apple of a bankrupt situation or there will be no Iphone today if its was not of Microsoft ...

  • I've met this guy :)

  • LOL longer battery life???? talk about lowering battery life

  • Macintosh are Better

  • @musicaljones11 Now i have found some who have a brain

  • you don't really need to buy a windows 7 pc you just need to take care of your computer better. i still have a xp and the operating system is home edition 2001. also it boots up really fast, it boots up faster than a vista also its just like 5 or 7 seconds slower than boot up on the windows 7. also that sidebar stuff slows down your computer way to much.

  • @stewie019 haha yeah ppl do need to take better care of their computers. I have xp media center edition and its still good, but i have 7 as well and its a lot better for me. for whatever reason i still use my xp comp more than my 7 comp....prolly cause i like dtops alot more than laptops lol

  • the only reason there was a mac on the screen is that a jerk who does graphics made it on purpose, and Balmer did not respond to it, because all we think that if they see a product of competition they will go mad.

  • @petrocelly acually thare is not only a Macbook pr on the poster behind steve ballmer thare is a 13 inch Macbook on the table in front of them. did you notice that one too? you cant blame the jerk graphics guy for that.

  • @MrGizmo757 or maybe thats on purpouse, they did it to show that win7 can also run on MAC's since Mac's are now x86 based ... so maybe it was intentional ... tell the truth I do have OS X and win 7, have to admit win 7 is really improved and me as a oldskool MS user its still hard to get used to OS X, still missing some keystrokes or OS behavior even on ADOBE software, still I think Apple is outstanding by industrial design, and MS need still imrpoovement, they should sell HW as Apple does ..

  • STEVE JOBS PWNS

  • I have both a Mac and PC, I do different things on each but 90% of the time I use the Mac and have so since the Mac Plus days some 20 years ago. But I won't be upgrading my XP to Win7, I'll just wait until the PC dies and get a new one then with Win7 SP2.

  • What, no chair throwing?! I'm disappointed.

  • you can put windows 7 on a macbook, so i dont see what the big deal is. it does use an x86 cpu.

  • When you buy a PC in a shop the sales says "good luck with it" when you buy a Mac the salesman says "have fun with it". That's the real difference.

  • And that mac has 3 more zeros in the pricetag

  • Downvoted by the appletards LOL

  • Macs are an overpriced "my first computer" toy. I would be too embarrassed to use one. When you've mastered that one button mouse, step up to a Windows based PC.

  • You'd be too embarrassed to use one would you?

Same old tall poppy syndrome, its the same as someone saying I would be too embarrassed to drive a ferrari, when they drive a 20 year old piece of junk to work every day.

My advice to you is keep using that windows junk, because if you can't see the benefits of a Mac then you deserve to suffer a windows existence.

    Enjoy the pain LOL

  • One button mouse? All the mice from apple has two buttons. And the newest one even has multitouch. Beat that! ;)

  • I disagree. Macs are great and anybody can program on one without worrying about needing unix shell emulators, like you do for Windows, if you need to program in C. After all, not all IDEs come with the compilers. Second, it is a known fact that there are businesses or professional writers that use them. Third, they dominate the multimedia department. As for one button, seriously you are joking. My iMac5,1 (late 2006 Mac) is running Ubuntu and I get both right and left-click w/o problems.

  • Well... for me the thing is that apple computers are really over price. Even though they look good a probably work the same or better than a windows Pc if you want a MacBook prepare yourself for giving away a big chunk of cash. So I rather go for a windows Pc and save some money and avoid all the compatibility issues better hardware for less money BTW I seeing a ton of people complaining about sown leopard whats the deal with that?

  • I bought a Shuttle PC just for games, i.e. no email or malware access. Within a year I had to reinstall windows xp, within 2 years, the power supply failed. The OS ran painfully slow with bloatware, consuming most of my 2GB ram after just booting, and I was getting VM warnings. My 2001 dual 800 G4 has run trouble free for 8 years and even managed a 10.5 install. Macs are worth every penny.

  • Well... I'm happy for and perhaps you are right but that extra money you are paying is not due to better hardware or software is due to marketing. Macs are market as elite fun cool computers and thats needs to be pay for the consumer. Windows is a world of pain but thats the price you pay for compatibility. To be honest I like Linux better, Ubuntu 9.10 is a great OS and it is free. Cheers mate

  • I disagree with the giving a big chunk away. A dell that may have suited me costed about $1,998 and did not include webcam/microphone, important since I do podcasting, bluetooth, to transfer contacts to my other portable devices that can't access wi-fi, and the wireless card only supported 802.11b/g compliant networks. Also, the Adobe cross-grade license to get a legal windows version might exceed $300. I saved more cost and fustration by getting an MBP at $2,517, with Office 2008.

  • Good for you but $2,517 for a laptop is way too much for me. I pay $800 for my HP Pavilion (Intel Centrino 2 duo 2.2Ghz 4Gb Ram DDR3 and 250Gb HDD WI-FI 802.11b/g/n Intel video card HD4500 among other things) I'm pretty happy with it. Sony Vaio and Dells are rather expensive for what you get hardware wise so I see your point but I still think macs are too expensive. Cheers

  • That's good you got something that fit you. The computer was actually $2,498.95, but there were things that upped the price, like anti-glare instead of glossy, Office 2008, Apple remote and a case.

  • Well... for that money you can get an economy car like a Hyundai or something but anyway

  • I don't think so, not unless it was used. Most cars I see exceed $10,000 easily.

  • Oh boy the high prices these days :s maybe the down payment then? lol

  • much more likely, but it depends on some factors, since down payments are just part of the financing.

  • on purpose!

  • WTF that was not a mac book you retard btw Microsoft are sooooo much better then apple i would point out every way in which this is true but there is no space in my comment so i challenge everyone out there to name one thing in which macs beat pc's (that does not include mps we all know the Zune was crap all)

  • I'd say programming. Yes, you can program on any Operating system, but Apple is kind enough to give you the compilers for Java, C, and other languages with your restore media with the purchase of a new Mac. Microsoft makes me hunt down a unix shell emulator and the Sun JDK because it is not included with Windows nor do any of their hardware production partners bundle the compilers with the purchase of a new computer. Other than that, Microsoft did a better job with Office 2008 than 2007, IMO.

  • Come on, people. You don't REALLY think that Microsoft would willingly use an Apple computer. Do ya?? The fact is that Microsoft had NOTHING to do with that video graphic behind Ballmer; that type of thing is handled by the Today Show, itself! Now, either the producer was ignorant to the fact that they used a stock photo of an Apple laptop (highly doubtful), or it was an intentional jab by some production peon that they figured would go unnoticed.

  • the funny thing is, 9 out of ten of us has a pc and most of us hate it. but just wont buy a mac.

  • pc are not the bad i love both companys.

they both are have their pros and cons.

and be happy that you get to choose because they both are great!

  • I Love W7!!!!!!!!!!

  • 9 out of 10 hey?

I'd rather be in the top 10 percent the the bottom 90.

    lol

  • well think of it this way!

theres 10 people in a room, you are a mac and the rest of them are windows.

they all speak windows, they create and share everything with each other, they all are in the same page but you.

    you are in disadvantage.

    you are less compatible .

you are going to work hared to solve a problem by your self.

  • They all 'speak' windows do they?

What is that another way to say they can all spread viruses with each other?

In the real world if you were to put 10 'smart' people in a room all with laptops, 9 out of 10 would probably use a mac. The numbers would be reversed.

It's the ignorant masses which make up the numbers on the windows side. These are people who go for the cheapest rubbish money can buy. Popular does not equate to quality.

  • have you heard of antivirus programs.

my mac pro is running "avast!" ANTI-VIRUS program.

i think macs has a few more, which thats great for mac, "few" isnt alway bad in this case.

and yes ignorance in the real world is a bitch...

i have windows 7 booted in my boot camp

because i need it for work..bottom line is that it looks great and i love it..

  • wtf mac spells everything out for you its the most basic (that doesn't mean easy to use theres a difference) OS out there in that situation they would all use Ubuntu Linux and its only ignorant masses that think there cool because they have the same computer that they saw on TV mac are total crap smart people want to be able to upgrade there PCs they want to be able to run nearly every application that exists in the world today so guess what there going to get ... thats right windows (or Linux)

  • If you want people to reply, please structure your sentences so they make sense.

  • "they want to be able to run nearly every application that exists in the world today so guess what there going to get ... thats right windows (or Linux)"

If you're including linux, Macs can run just about every linux app out there, which includes WINE, because of it is a BSD variant and BSD OSes can run linux apps natively.

"smart people want to be able to upgrade there PCs"

There are smart people who need to spend their valuable time working instead of tweaking their computers too.

  • Wine compatibility is poor, the point of linux is that it ISN'T windows, and that it is completely free. You are completely missing the point.

The only reason for a mac is that it is different, that it isn't windows, and yet it is commercially supported People use operating systems because of the applications that run on them, not because of the operating systems themselves.

  • "Wine compatibility is poor"

True, but the user was saying nearly every app that exists in the world can run in Linux, so that was not missing the point. People just forget that pretty any linux app can run on Mac, especially since vobcopy and wget work very well on Mac, installing via source since there are no mac binaries for either.

  • windows is just as good as mac osx. stop criticizing microsoft. i am tired of this microsoft vs apple flame war, its got to stop!!!!!!!

  • "Popular does not equate to quality."

    100% agree.

  • That doesn't mean that incremental increases in quality for multiplications of the price tag are reasonable. The reason PC's are popular is because they are very comparable to Macs (and, in some opinions, beat Macs) and are oftentimes half the price.

Of course popularity does not equate to quality in the free market, but it always equates to value. The market has decided that PC's are a much better value, especially with the release of Windows 7.

  • True, comparable is definitely a better way to see it. As for better value, it all depends on what the person needs. For me, I have a Mac version of Photoshop and I am more comfortable with a unix CLI than a DOS CLI, or CLI emulator like most Windows PC users say, as well as a need for iTunes, which is most of the reason Macs are a better value, IMO. I would like to try out Windows 7 because even my college teacher prefers it over what he calls the "Vista Virus". Thanks for a nice reply.

  • Oh my, another innovative windows version - only problem is they just put a new title on the old vista boxes. the "touchy screen is just what you want for your desktop, let the kids at the computer with their peanut butter & jam hands. Next product Mircosoft comes out with is wipes to clean the desktop - called "Touchy Wipes"

  • Ballmer da lastima.

  • 3:24 Girl goes away on rewind.

  • huh? In what way was the station unprofessional? Ballmer looks like he always does--a huckster hyping another fail for an OS. Who in their right mind wants to uninstall ALL their applications, remove their music and photos just to upgrade their OS?

  • Vista doesn't have to do that, it can upgrade. If you're using XP then yeah you have to do a clean install, but to be fair there's like a 10 year gap between XP and 7. Besides, it's not like it's hard to back up your programs and data. Well maybe it is for Mac users... no offense btw, just being honest here.

  • "Well maybe it is for Mac users... no offense btw, just being honest here. "

Actually it's not that difficult with either Time Machine or Rsync. Both are available out of the box, but there are other solutions. I prefer Rsync, as I can specify a folder on an external hard drive to backup to and I can use iCal to schedule it. Time Machine is more user friendly though for those who prefer a GUI.

  • Nobody does, and Windows has never demanded any users to do that. It's just a matter of simply knowing what you're doing on a computer in the first place... which is the fundamental requirement Apple removes from its computers, a lack of responsibility that is then marketed to consumers as "trendy".

  • Unprofessional work on behalf of the Tv station, Steve Ballmer its very professional and doesnt have to worry about mistakes like that, that are not their own.
