He has the kit that he does for the purpose of playing it in a band, not just for video games. He hooked his drum kit up to this game, because he already had it. He didn't spend Hundreds and hundreds of dollars for a video game.

Not necessarily. You could use a finger technique, or a wrist technique. I prefer using my wrists, it gives me more power, to drum like my idol, Danny Carey. But when I play jazz I use a lot more fingers, to play like my jazz idol, Brian Blade.
