  • People might have trouble with the Monks if they charge up in between them or wait for them to get in the party's face. They also might try it earlier in the story before having the resources you used.

"Crystal Tower" seems a combined reference of III and IV.

  • A turtle cannon? The very idea tickles me with joy..

  • The Minu/Minwu Orb looks exactly like the magatama from the Ace Attorney games!

  • @playinandworking09 i missed that reference

  • Try beating 11 Thunders Gods or even one and Leviathan will kill you for mercy.

  • so cherry blossom summons kjata.... if anyone noticed

  • Comment removed

  • so many monks! lmfao

  • you gonna show the chocobo battle?

  • A lot of the treasure was incorporated into FFTA

  • Cloud's new limit break in this game kind of looks like the Kuja (spelling) summon from FFVII, except without the bull involved.

  • BWAHAHAhahaha heh heh... what.

  • Eleven! Eleven monks! Ah Ah Ah! *Lightning flashes*

  • Can you imagine if all the enemy characters WERE optimized the way you did, HC Bailly? Now that would be scary... Add some needed challenge to the game, but still scary.

  • i thought this was the last episode becaulse the title hehe ITS NOT OVER YET *cheers*

  • In the Japanese version, there are mini games for "M Fiction Novel", "Diary of Nanai", "Wyuvle" (which is probably a mistranslation for "Oeil Veil") and "Book of Enavia" where you can actually get to read the novels. I wonder, do they have minigames in the US version?

  • "HA AHAHA!..what" LOL

  • Cloud's new limit break holds the ultimate power of overly flashy animations lol, guaranteed to kill you, whether it be by seizure, heart attack, stroke etc.,or if you actually survive long enough, the actual damage

  • I never knew this battle even existed. I need to fight it now that I know about it!

  • Isn´t the crystal tower a ff3 reference?

  • This is how Yang's monks really died in FFIV.

  • I would like to request some MEDIATOR battles. Is there a really good way to recruit units and up the hit %?

  • So much for their pilgrimage to the holy land.

  • Cherry Blossom limit break looks similar to the Kjata summon attack in FF7.

  • Deep Dungeon is next! YES!!!!!1

  • 69 is never a 'finishing touch'.

  • Sorry for double post but i also want to add that ''Minu Orb'' look like a seed from a Japanese anime called Blue Seed

  • Excalipar is a FF , i think, 6 when you battle Gilgamesh, its a mistranslation for Excalipoor.

  • Exaclipar! Gilgamesh!! Loving it! I like these neat little references.

  • "Excalipar" sounds like it should have been "Excalipoor" from Final Fantasy V.

  • HCBailly, the battle is challenging IF you don't use overpowered moves like YOU did.

  • Climhazzard is disgustingly powerful against the final bosses. All you gotta do is inflict a decent amount of damage on them and then Climhazzard wil do 999 damage every shot. Shock! works the same way as well.

  • hey HC, does your wife like getting hit w/ your rod? lol i had to

  • I think the magical gun treasure is somewhat a reference to Final Fantasy: Unlimited anime series where the main character had a magical gun that could summon various ''monsters''.

  • -- If you're talkin' a hard battle, try the dragon fight in the first battlefield.

(Again, you approach it from the south)

Also: "Cherry Blossom" was a hidden Lv4 limit break for Cloud that was removed from the NA version. Any other details, I'm not 100% sure on.

  • If the tactical RPG had an open world map and you only initiate combat, unless switching screens...they could incorperate NPCs in. There is no reason you can't do sorta what Disgaea does.

  • Nameless Dance is so fun on this map.

  • why did a lot of clouds limit breaks not do any damage?

  • I was wondering if you were gonna get that Zodiac stone. ;3

  • HEY ITS ME! 1:16

  • 10:17 did cloud get a turn while charging?

  • @Chocobo02 Yep, that can happen quite a bit during long charge times. If you do any action during that turn, it cancels whatever you're charging though.

  • Another good thing about Finishing Touch is that it has a 2 horizontal radius that allows Cloud to kill/petrify/stop multiple enemies at once. You need Short Charge to be useful though.

  • W. T. F.

  • Couldn't the Crystal Tower reference to Baron be referring to the Tower of Babil?

  • @HybridZ23 I kinda thought that the Crystal Tower would be a reference to the Tower of Zot.

  • @HCBailly

    Kingdom Hearts? =D

  • Muramasa swords are said to be cursed because of Muramasa, the person who created those swords and was not exactly the most.. friendly type of person or sane, and with time, people said it was a cursed bloodthirsty sword, many warriors used those swords, and killed a looot of people, anyway.. it would be an equivalent of the evil excalibur-ish kinda of sword tale... but his swords were really good.. so..

  • Mirage Tower is Sieken Dentetsu 1, right? I forget the name, but I think it was mirage tower of Zot (a reference to ff4 or american ff2, if so).

SD1 is none other than FF Adventures, renamed in traslation.

  • @jinoah17emu Not honestly sure about Seiken Densetsu, but I know the Mirage Tower is in the original Final Fantasy

  • Sound seemed a little bit cleaner to me. The volume could be a little bit higher.

  • I don't know if someone has mentioned already, but the video in this episode is quite noisy and grainy, especially when solid, dark colours appear. I don't know if you changed something in your settings, but this is the first time I've noticed so much noise in your videos.

  • @coreymon78 A lot of that is probably due to me recording the second half of the episode from the save states that i have on my computer, so it's not as high quality.

  • @HCBailly even though I mainly noticed the noise and graininess during the first half of the episode?

  • @HCBailly I'd say its because the 2nd half is in a square aspect ratio, whereas the first half is in the GB Advance widescreen.

  • i did htis battle in WOTL with Balthier solo no healing hes really good with speed and barrage

  • I thought, monks with lack of faith, and No Cloud? ok. But than, there Was Cloud and I thought how awsome this is! His limits look genuine, too!... except omnislash. Ok! (no game breakers there, though...!)

  • HC, how did you make sure that you got the 11 Monk battle, since you didn't have savestates? Wouldn't it have been random whether you got that battle or not?

  • I had a battle her before, but it was 11 ARCHERS....yeah i did not survive that one. Does anyone else recall having archers instead of monks?

  • Thank you for the tip on short charge, it answered the questions I had about that skill for the limit breaks, though, wouldn't getting his base speed up higher aid in making him a great deal more adaptable in firing off those skills even quicker?

  • HOW long is that charge time? Like 14 actions?

  • You never get the Leo or Virgo zodiac stones because Vormav has them both, and once you enter the final battles you can't check the Brave Story anymore.

  • I once used a gameshark to give cloud the "No Charge" ability. It was a good time.

  • Wow.

HCBailly is so sadistic... He could be a torture master...

    Or a SM master. Booty-

  • @HCBailey I'm honestly suprised you never replaced Otaku considering throughout the fourth chapter she killed almost no one and was only there to cast haste once a battle

  • @goglespit Haste is that good.

  • @ChaosBahamut Yet he could have just taught it to any of his other characters and used time magic as a sub

  • hc: any plans to show off the uber summon?

  • No volume problems for me. I wear a headset.

  • LOL the volume is fine for me, stop whining ppl

  • @Dragonic159 we are not whinning. we're helping him get it right

  • @Dragonic159 It can be different for others considering our audio setups, we aren't whining, just addressing a concern, because when I crank my volume, I can barely hear him.

  • This battle isn't that hard, however, when your level's high, fighting a group of red chocobo's can be a pain because they can one shot your characters with meteor.

  • HAHAH UHH...what ?

  • Comment removed

  • that was ez try the ninjas i forget the name of the spot but its where you save boco in the start of the game with agrias and the dark knight as guests i think thats it not sure thou

  • volume seems normal like usual

  • crystal tower is from FF III

  • Didnt know the Minu orb is in this game. It is an accesory in FFTA2, which blocks all status problems.

  • M-Fiction novel... Maybe its a Mature-fiction novel?

  • I have to say, Omnislash was a disappointment. The other ones were cool, but Omnislash was a bit disappointing.

  • do you plane on showing

    agrias birthday?

  • @MrAmonkey7 ? the hells that

  • @MrAmonkey7 that's psp-version only

  • This battle was hard for me because my main team was on a proposition. They destroyed my backup team without Ramza or agrias

  • Well, that battle went enormously better than any of my runs. I usually get ganged up on and pummeled to death. Looking forward to the Deep Dungeon though.

  • I could swear that first attack sounded like bowling pins.

  • 4:14 hcbailly wins flawless victory/fatality

  • Holy carp! I didn't even know you could get 11 enemies on the screen.

Cherry Blossom kind of reminds me of Delta Force from Chrono Trigger.

"Tarot of Ben?" Uh-oh... Has he even made his way into our older games?

  • @kerplop Due to limitations, the only way to get 11 enemies is to have 11 of the *same* enemy.

  • My friend was playing this game first time through and was searching for side quests when he found this battle lol. FREAKED OUT!!!

  • Muramasa and Masamune are two legendary sword smiths. As far as I'm aware, these were real, but just got a mythological reputation. Anywho, Muramasa's swords are in real life known for their sharpness, but legends say that they are possessed, once drawn, they would be unable to be sheathed until it cuts and draws blood from something. Meanwhile, Masamune's swords were known for the crystals in the blade, which "looked like stars in the night sky", and were said to never cut the innocent.

  • Holy crap Cloud was grinded up.

  • You know, I find those Monk's lack of Faith disturbing.

  • @parnash LOL

  • The volume is fine. I can actually hear the BGM for the game a lot better to be honest.

  • I got a good feeling when I saw this in my subscription box.

  • @HCBailly, the audio is fine in this video. I think the game volume is a *little* low, but it didn't really bother me until I saw the comments and started thinking about it.

  • 00:27

    geat!

now it's the 11 kenny battle!

well at least it will be easy since they'll all die at some point of the episode

  • hcbailly after the deep dungeon, will you show the special battles of the remake?

  • The volume seems the same as it's been for hundreds of videos.

  • Tensburger... Does that mean that he has ten burgers in his pocket? (Friggin' Random Name Generator)

  • Personally, I think you should raise both the game and your voice audio levels just a little. not too much though

  • Actually, on further reflection. FFT came out after FF7, by then we had the PSX ports: FF Origins (1 & 2), Final Chronicles (FF 4 & Chrono Trigger) , and FF Anthology (5 and 6), and a fan translation of FF 3 (3 wouldn't come out officially until the GBA port. >.< ) so, yeah, if someone was a hard core collector of the series, all those references would be gotten. :D

  • @llloyd4 Anthology, Chronicles, and Origins came out 1-4 years after Tactics did, so almost no one would have gotten the references.

  • @drunyon214 Well... They would have gotten some of them if they had gotten the NES 1, 2, 5 (as 3 here), and 6 (as 4 here) at the very least.

  • @llloyd4 I meant the references to FF2, FF3, and FF5, which almost no one in America had played at the time FFT was released. I believe you are mistaken in some of your numbers, as well-- FF4 was known as FF2, and FF6 was known as FF3.

  • idk if u messed around with ur normal voice audio, but to me ive never had a problem with it before... now u were a lot lower then normal

    the game volume is fine

  • I think i caught one mistranslation the Minu Orb, its possible it was meant to say Minwu from FF2 but theres no way to be certain

  • Comment removed

  • Ifrit doesn't get a boost from 180 gems? Thought he was a fire elemental. Oh, the game audio sounds fine

  • @Stungun48 Leviathan has a much higher base power than Ifrit, which is why he said Leviathan is the strongest summon you can boost with 108 Gems.

  • I think the Red/Blue/White/Black materias are supposed to represent the Tails from Final Fantasy III.

  • I recognize a lot of those treasures as equippable accessories or armor in the Tactics Advance series, ie the Orb or Minu/Minwu. Oh, Squaresoft, you are so sneaky with your inside references.

  • Ya know, Cecil, Kain, Edge, Terra, Shadow, Sabin, Cyan, Setzer even, all of these would've been so much better than Cloud ><

  • If I remember right, FF1 and 2 was here on the NES, but 3 and 4 was kept in Japan, then we got 5 and 6 renumbered 3 and 4 here. Then they resynched the numbers for 7 and up. Only later we really got 4, and much later we finally got 3 officially. Though my memory could be a little off on that, I do know for sure we got 1 and 2 officially for the NES. :D So any reference to 1, 2, 5, and 6 we'd have gotten if we were up on the series. :D

  • Do that battle on germinas peak with like 6000HP worth of monsters

  • Would of been a nice touch if you would then fight in those areas you found (maybe it would be a lot less area's then what was listed cause im sure the disc was near its max memory) or be able to use some of the items you found

  • I think the volume levels are you've chosen are perfect. Voice has good volume, in-game sound is reasonably lloud that you can hear the music. Maybe it is too high. Try to lower it a bit but not too much. on the side - are you going to play Golden Sun? Or is something not good with it? (maybe summons/classes, oh boy)

  • M-Fiction Novel... An M rated fiction novel?

  • the areas refrence past FF games i thought it was a nice touch

  • It's too bad you can't get Summoning guns like the magic gun treasure suggests. Guns would be soooo overpowered if there were. Well I guess the Stone gun is good enough even if it is cursed.

  • You know I just remembered this game is for ps1. Holy Shit!

  • There's also the Crystal Tower on the Moon in FF4, but yeah, the Crystal Tower here looks more like the one from FF3. Also one of my favorite battle maps from Dissidia Duodecim.

  • 11 Monks!?! its time to use FOOMY PUNCH!!!! opps wrong game -__- =]

  • 11:15 - 11:26 Cloud Learned Kjata?? O_o

  • i think it did a better job with npc plus with the multiply ending in each area gives the game alot of replay value.

  • if you havn't already you should play a game called La Pucelle tactics

  • The volume is indeed kind of low on this one HCBailly.

  • THE CRYSTAL TOWER LOOKS FROM FINAL FANTASY 3

  • Excuse me, HCBailly, I know you're experimenting with the volume levels, but this one is just way too low. Me personally, I had no issues with the volume levels before this testing.

  • @itachi4492 Could you be more specific? My voice, the game, or the overall volume?

  • @HCBailly Oh, right, sorry. I meant your voice is too quiet. I've grown used to the game volume being much quieter than your voice. ... Now that I think about it, the levels are at a good match with each other, but the overall volume could be a bit louder. Also, just a thought, but I remember in the Lufia 2 LP you wanted us to hear the last dungeon's music. Maybe during those times, you raise the game volume for a little bit to emphasize the music then put it back to it's original level?

  • Comment removed

  • @HCBailly hey HCBailly the voice cuality sounds alitel mufeld and low but the game sounds good

  • @HCBailly On my end, it sounds overall a bit low. Not so low that I am straining to hear though. Your voice is more noticeably quieter than before though, the game audio sounds just a bit quieter, which is nice.

  • @Shinraithegreat I feel stupid now, It should be noticeably quieter, not more noticeably quieter...

  • @HCBailly

You rock hc baily I will watch what I can now for the next couple of hours today. But most of the days going to be reruns of final fantasy 8 mst3k and other stuff. Don't have as flexible a schedule as I used to have. YouTube is acting up a lot on the site costing me some time as well resending me videos I already watch and send me new ones several minutes to hours after they were inital put on the site.

  • @HCBailly I honestly found the the overall volume (both voice and game) lower than previous videos. In my personal case, I had to max out the computer and video player's volume, along with turning up my speaker volume pretty high in order to here everything clearly.

  • @HCBailly I agree that the volume is low, but I'd say it's more like your voice is muffled for some reason. Hope that helps

  • @HCBailly over all volume is too low i has to go up to quite high on my mac

  • @HCBailly Your volume.

  • @HCBailly I think he means the OVERALL volume, it is very low.

  • @HCBailly Honestly I don't see what he's talking about.. The volume is slightly, just slightly, higher than all the other videos, it's not lower at all. Maybe someone was messing around in the mixer ;)

  • Sexy episode

  • Were you referencing Golbez there on purpose at 6:28, or did that happen subconsciously?

  • Wasn't expecting a Final Fantasy Unlimited reference with the description of the Magical Gun.

  • LOL doesn't Cherry Blossom look like Antipode from Chrono Trigger

  • HCBailly, Limit Breaks aside, is Cloud a practical unit?

  • Wow, nothing better to do when sick with a cold than to watch you, HCBailly!

Also, I'd like to give a little detail on one of the proposition rewards: that "Minu Orb" is actually a mistranstlation; the actual name is roughly "Minwu's Orb," referencing FFII.

  • So, basically the Cherry Blossom Limit Break is the Kjata summon from FF7?

  • how do you unlock the deep dungeon location?

  • @king504babyboi Go to Warjilis Trade City, read the Deep Dungeon rumor at the bar, and it'll appear automatically.

  • Volume too low :(

  • first lp i've watched all the way through

  • Well, that's a lot of monks to handle... What monastery did they run from?

  • Its such a shame this series is over.. Was so fun to watch.
