  • he makes a strong argument.

  • >Claims to be a libertarian

    >Wants to regulate purity through FDA and restrict prices and advertising rights.

  • This was the #1 question in every town hall meeting President Obama has had, and yet he still snickers and marginalizes it like it's nothing.

Everyone knows it's less harmful than liquor, tobbacco, or viagra and has numerous medical benefits, yet because the DEA is addicted to the 10 billion per year budget they require, they fight against the inevitable tooth and nail.

Time to get some lobbyists, get a new face on this cause, and get this bitch over the hill.

  • @sallylongpants unbelievable poor logic. How's the tobacco bootlegging business? lol that shit only worked in the mafia in the mid 1900's.

  • (sounding like im on drugs)

well i get an idea for a job what if (snickers) we got a guy to crap of the freeway

    oh my god thats genius!

  • hes not a conservative hes a libertarian which is a good thing :)

  • Comment removed

  • okay well. my judgement of this video lies with the guy who's eyes look like hes hyped up on 15 different stimulants... if we are ever going to successfully get marijuanna legalized it cant be done by people who at least "look" like they are on drugs

  • END THIS DEADLY WAR ON DRUGS! SAVE OUR CHILDREN PLEASE AMERICA!

  • Medicinal? Grow some balls and take the Pain. Medical weed... Fucking stupid.

  • @KursedMalediction47, you're a dick.

  • If you can grow, no one would be buying drugs.... Problem solved.

  • Everyone assumes that legalization will make usage go up. This has already been proven wrong by the countries that have done it. From my experience in Amsterdam, I can tell you that out of all of the people I met smoking in the coffeeshops, not one of them was a Dutch citizen. They were all tourists. Legalization made marijuana consumption by the Dutch decrease.

  • I hate the smirks and giggles at the beginning. that girl is such a christian... and why the hell would they try to tax it out of existence. If they did that it would cause people to get it illegaly once again. The goal is to have the people get it here instead of somewhere else in a healthy responsible attitude.

  • The ultimate goal is to take the criminals out of the market. Well how do you do that? Competition. Ultimately people don't want to buy from criminals, they want to buy products from reputable sources. That dynamic alone will force the illegal drug merchants out because they cannot compete, making it much safer and taxable even without sin taxes or regulation.

  • Why not give responsible users a chance?

  • rehab that overlooks the healing qualities of psychedelics and healthcare that denies the value of a miracle like marijuana. these aren't things that i want to pay for, and i shouldn't have to. i would rather pay of alternatives that follow real market trends; not blind ideological neotinization.

  • Why do people always metion amsterdam. Portugal is the country that has legalized all drugs.

  • How does it effect children...what a moronic thing to say. She is a MORON!!!

Morons help MORONS..as in...Gang members are morons { can't get a regulat job...they like illegal shit because hard working people avoid getting arrested. Lazy fucklers don't mind so much. They figure they get out sometime....

  • If there is the right to ruin children's brains with religious rubbish then grownups surely have the right to have occasional fun with legal highs. Make weed legal but don't smoke it. Have it in thee or eat it. Nicotine is what makes people smoke.

Cars and religions kill. I don't smoke myself and my use of chemical highs is very occasional and always well prepared just like a well thought driver. I always learn something from my experiences and land back on my rational feet. I'm over 50 now.

  • omg those bitches are so fcking stupid...

  • Most crimes are drug related so think about how crime will decrease if drugs are decriminalize

  • So true, weed is ridiculously easy to get. Drug dealers are the most annoying mother fuckers ever, always textin me n shit, "hey bro, want some weed?" AND there everywhere! Alcohol on the other hand is a pain in the ass to get.

  • I agree with herrsexyhosen. All this talk about regulation and taxes is BS. If/when it's legalized, I'm not going to CVS or 21st Amendment to buy it. I'm growing it.

Otherwise, I like this judge. At least he's on the correct side of the fence.

  • clarification is in order. It is a breach of contract between moses and God for herb bearing seed drugs such as marijuana, coca, and heroin to remain illegal. However, oxycontin, ecstacy, crystal meth, tylenol, ect , does not fall into this category.

  • In our Hebrew culture, it is a breach of contract between moses and God. Just because our govt. does this does not give us the right to also breach this contract. to give an example to their error we should practice all 133 precepts such as paying our employees in silver at end of day, home schooling our kids, not mingling our seed, not paying income tax,not filling out census,no going to whores, keeping holy the saturday sabbath, not following holloween, christmas, easter.

  • No!!! Don't regulate or tax it!

  • The judge annouces in this video he's libertarian... yet it says conservative... Hmmmm

  • @mgitarist91 Pretty much all american libertarians are conservative, which contrasts for instance, Europe, where Libertarianism is usually connected with the left wing.

  • these judges have seen case after case of children being molested, women being brutalized by their b/fs, someone shooting someone else in the face over a bag of meth. there are people being punished just as a bad as the forementioned crimes for doing something as innocent as carrying some weed to roll a joint. there is an EXTREME lack of hard evidence that supports the "fact" that weed is harmfull, makes people crazy or is a gateway drug. legalize it already & free up some prison space.

  • That guy, initially speaks is way off, he talks about palces where all the crimes and problems and mentions teh netherlands. the netherlands has somewhat lower crime than in the United States.

  • Sounds like reason and logic.

  • key fact: between 1776 and 1913, all drugs were legal to adults in the US and largely unregulated (no FDA). they didn't have some of the more exotic drugs, but they did have the big three, cannabis, cocaine, opiates. also during that time, the US went from a small band of farming colonies on the east coast of the north american continent to THE GREATEST RICHEST MOST POWERFUL COUNTRY IN THE HISTORY OF THE HUMAN RACE!

  • he fucking kicked ass!

  • ide rather my son end up smoking weed then go off drinking his liver away and possibly end up an abusive wife beater. They let things like K2, spice (fake weed), be legal and that stuff causes seizures and other harmfull effects but not harmless weed?

  • I'd make it free to gun toting red necks those guys need to chill the fuck out.

  • why does it have to be taxed and regulated? why can't it be as legal as carrots or broccoli or some shit.

  • because carrots and broccoli dont get you high!

  • @tatomuck18 why should that make a difference? nutmeg and wild lettuce can get you high too.

  • @herrsexyhosen

Because the tax revenue of legal drugs would be so huge that it would have overwhelming positive effect on everything, we would have more health care, more money for law enforcement to fight REAL crimes, the housing market would be great etc.

Im fine with paying reasonable taxes, so long as the taxes are used responsibly and go to things that matter, which there not right now.

We spend trillions enforcing prohibition and incarcerating harmless people for victimless crimes.

  • @herrsexyhosen same reason alcohol and tobacco are taxed they aren't food... you don't need them to live.. and when you purchase something that is a luxury its taxed. If its legalized grow your own just like you can carrots or broccoli

  • @herrsexyhosen People like sin tax.

  • @anarkoFred it is a sin tax. it only works because people in this culture inexplicably view vice as something criminal to various extents.

  • @herrsexyhosen the money can go to education and rehab/healthcare.

  • @herrsexyhosen because if drugs are regulated, they are less available to our children.

  • @whotookmypiewtf bullshit. children get drugs because their parents have alienated them with all the unfounded bullshit regarding how the world works, and they idolize the thing their demonic parents hate most: drugs.

  • @herrsexyhosen if drugs were regulated they would be less available to the children, and that goes without question. I am only 19 years old, and by the time I was 14, just a few years ago, i could easily get ahold of cocaine, meth, ecstasy, mushrooms, marijuana and even more illegal drugs. The thing is, i never really did any of those, and it would piss me off that it was so hard to get alcohol. That is because alcohol is regulated by our government. I dont need an ID to get crack or meth.

  • @whotookmypiewtf that's my point. you don't need ID to get drugs, because they're part of the black market, which is all about secrecy. in a free market, a business would go to great lengths to prevent children from buying these drugs, and these kids need REAL information about them, other than "don't do it", so they can make infromed decisions for themselves. if they willfully choose to kill themselves slowly, great! genepool = chlorinated.

  • @herrsexyhosen Also, some drug labs (ie meth) are EXTREMELY dangerous, and would need to be regulated for public safety.

  • @whotookmypiewtf meth is already being manufactured and sold to children as AD(H?)D medication. great fucking regulation, eh? no one in their right mind would make it in their homes if it were readily available.

  • @herrsexyhosen Well ADHD medication isnt going to change, regardless of legalization. Thats a separate issue. If meth were as legal as carrots, anybody could legally make profit off of it, without a license, which would give more people the incentive to make meth to sell. If there were regulations, it would require a license and regulations, which would avoid disastrous outcomes. Making meth is very dangerous, and can cause huge explosions.

  • @herrsexyhosen What would give business the incentive to promote awareness? A business is created only to make profit, they dont want to spend money on awareness, thats not their job.

  • @whotookmypiewtf schools would profit.

  • @herrsexyhosen Schools would profit if businesses would spread drug awareness? First of all, why would business care if schools profit? Second, how would that even be true? Maybe, private schools, because the more students the more profit, but not public, because it doesnt work like that. Either way, awareness would not help a business profit.

  • @herrsexyhosen food is regulated for its quality im not sure if its taxed dont think so.

  • @herrsexyhosen who fucking cares if they tax it. you would be able to grow it and only have to worry about getting a fine and not serious jail time.

  • @herrsexyhosen Because carrots, broccoli, tobacco, alcohol or any public consumable are taxed and regulated. The whole "tax and regulate" movement is just to get people to warm up to the idea, it gives them a sense of control or comfort in the knowledge that it's being handled responsibly.

  • @herrsexyhosen

Because food is considered a basic necessity, so it usually isn't taxed. And unlike with carrots and broccoli, the government has to ensure the quality and dosage of any drugs that are sold. Hence, pharmacists require special training, licensing & inspections, and somebody somewhere needs to pay for all that. Might as well be the consumer of the product.

  • @herrsexyhosen carrots or broccoli or "some shit" are taxed and regulated. That's why we want cannabis to be like that.

  • @herrsexyhosen Thats why we need to decriminalized NOT LEGALIZED.

dont be fooled into voting for it to be legalized, get it decriminalized.!!!!!!

    you can copy and paste

  • @herrsexyhosen homegrown wouldnt be taxed. but if it was legalized it needs to be monitored

  • @herrsexyhosen because, while they should be legal, drugs are definitely dangerous just as alcohol is dangerous. When there is a danger to a product it must be regulated and made sure that it is safe. If drugs weren't regulated the companies would put all kinds of shit in it that make it more addictive and more harmful the same way cigarette companies do that in poverty-stricken foreign countries. Drugs should be legal for the same purpose that they should be regulated; Safety.

  • have these people been to amsterdam? aside from drug tourism, the netherlands has no where near teh drug problems of the usa

  • @noogie123 what you are saying is 100% true. I have traveled around the world a bit...and have about 30 friends who are Dutch. I can tell you..to a person...NOT ONE has ever even TRIED any drug save alcohol and cigs...that's it. and you can smoke crack in the street in Amsterdam. Isnt that something? legal as a stick of gum but not abused or even used. Funny how that works isn't it?

  • American Drug War: The Last White Hope. watch it

  • At the start these morons from the TV start talk about the Netherlands and what 'great problems' we're supposed to have.

First of all, in the Netherlands marijuana isnt legal. The government decriminalized the use of it though it actually is still illegal. I think it should be completely legitimized but that's another story.

Second of all, the policy HAS NOT failed at all. Marijuana use is pretty much the same as in surrounding country's and generally lower then the USA's use.

  • @GBXS Hu? I thought decriminalizing meant you could use but not sell. I'm pretty positive you guys have stores selling weed and mushrooms, so what's the difference with legalization? The amount you can carry?

Do you mind explaining the difference? (this is a serious question, not being sarcastic or anything [just in case])

  • @yumeN0dengon

Well I could say it has been legalized though that is not completely the case. There are no people that grow weed on a large scale legally (you can only have 5 plants for your own use), the people growing it are mostly 'criminal' groups.

Officially soft drugs are illegal, the government has a tolerance policy for personal use (up to 5 grams). Also there are 'Coffee Shops' who have been given a permit by the community to sell. It is illegal for them to buy drugs though.

  • @GBXS Mmmh... 'kay. So the shops are provided pot and stuff by the government, people can buy up to 5gs (that I knew), but they can't grow even for personal use. An yet, soft drugs are illegal. That's pretty fucked up I gotta say o_0

Anyway, thanks for the clarification :)

  • @yumeN0dengon

No. The shops get their merchandise illegally provided by third party's, though the government can inspect the joint to make sure they dont sell bad shit. The police doesnt consider soft drugs for personal use a high priority.

A person can grow a maximum of 5 marijuana plants themselves, if you get caught having more they will be removed.

  • @GBXS Wait, WHAT? I thought there were precisely controled stocks of weed owned by the government, that it was grown by the gvmt and tightly monitored, and that they were the only ones who could provide the Coffee Shops. Has it changed in the past few years or has it always been like that?

Seriously, I'm discovering a whole new story here it's frightening how wrong I was o_o

  • @yumeN0dengon

It has always been like that. There is the question raised more and more here if it wouldnt be a good idea to legalize at least marijuana and let the government regulate it. There are a few morons though, that claim similar things will happen like conservative's in the USA do.

That being said, I dont think it should be considered matter of high priority here. There are some far more disturbing things going on in our country right now.

  • @yumeN0dengon The dutch government owning and distributing weed to the coffe shops would be akin to the US of A government owning and distributing coffe to starbucks. like GBX said, they just do sanitary/quality, etc control.

  • This guy is smart!

  • I'm tired of people laughing at pot use. Legalize the stupid thing and don't demean people who want to smoke it as being stoners who live in their parent's basement.

  • Smart guy, listen to him!

  • legal and cheaper weed?

    awesome

  • will never happen

  • "Ranked fairly high"?

It was number one on the fucking list, wasn't it?!

  • i've smoked weed for a year and my mom didn't even notice one bit.

then a month ago she found out about it, then every fuckin time i come home she looks at me like i'm hopeless or something, like im some kind of fuckin drug addict. and she asks me stuff like "did you get any sleep last night?" or she would go around whispering with a relative about me smoking weed, and I can FUCKING HEAR HER cause when im high my senses become accentuated and i can hear her say "he must've went out for a smoke

  • @cannabisbisbisbisbis I would suggest you quit as there's some evidence that it can damage your brain, and it takes years to recover, if it does at all (studies ongoing).

Having said that I support the de-criminalisation of MJ use, as it's been shown to reduce addiction rates.

  • @shraka

Why don't you share some links to information about these ongoing studies, because anyone familiar with marijuana knows it doesn't damage your brain, and it's effects on your lungs are infinitely less damaging than tobacco.

  • The mexican problem money is coming from cocaine. Make it legal and let the crack heads sleep it off until they die.

  • Legalize drugs for the good of the people aswell as the economy

  • ALL drugs need to be legalized. If you choose to use, then be prepared to face the consequences.

And please while they are at it they need to make all prescription drugs available over the counter and eliminate all the red tape.

  • @themalina92 Legalized but heavily controlled. I don't think Heroine should be legal EXCEPT in injecting clinics for people who are trying to kick the habit.

  • Perhaps I'm a bit naive but I fail to see the moral difference between big pharmacy and the mind altering drugs that are produced and sold by them, on a "for profit" basis and the drug lord who is doing the same thing but is hunted down and jailed.

Isn't there just a bit of hypocrisy in the government's logic?

America was formed through it's fight to end oppressive government and now they have become just like the ruler that they fought against! What irony this mockery of justice is!

  • The government has far too much control over our lives and our personal liberties and freedom.

They continue to tax us at every level and they jail us if we cannot pay their unjust taxes. To those pathetic morons who declare- "America, love it or leave it", I say love it but change it because we're headed for 3rd world nation status with the collection of assholes that are running this country off of a cliff at an alarming and ever increasing rate.

    Frustrated? Damned right I'm frustrated!

  • I don't make people that don't smoke weed smoke..but some how they're allowed to make me not smoke. Tell me what is right about this? There is nothing inherently right about ANY having ANY control over what you chose to put and do to your body, so long as you're not hurting other people. I don't tell other people who their are allowed to have sex with, if at all, so they shouldn't and don't tell me. How is it any different when it comes to recreational choices, and yes this includes all drugs

  • @TAXavier I'm interested, does your argument extend to PCP and Heroine?

  • This libertarian dude is trying but coming up with the worst possible arguments. There are so many different ways you could take this but how about this....

Legalize all drugs because they don't infringe on the rights of others. The government doesn't own our health, we do......we have the right to harm ourselves by drinking too much water, hitting ourselves, jumping off a high roof, smoking, eating doughnuts, drinking alcohol and doing drugs.

Unconstitutional to ban drugs. Any of them.

  • @ImInCommand Actually his points are the correct ones to convince people who are otherwise against it. People don't care so much about civil liberties if their safety is perceived to be threatened. The Patriot Act is evidence of that.

  • @ImInCommand : check out Reason TV's interview with Judge Gray. Although he did not make a constitutional argument, he did stress that the govt has no right to regulate whatever we put into our body or into our mind.

  • the pros outweigh the cons in this whole debate. We all know that one of these days they are going to legalize it. Just look at tobacco and alcohol now if we decided to make them illegal now how much money would the goverment lose. this is a multi billion dollar industry that needs to be taken control of

  • @32jview I'm against the idea that the government should get this money. I think it should be funnelled directly into anti-drug and medical support funds for those on drugs that the government can't touch. Any excess should be given as a bonus every citizen of the country. I feel the same way about resource taxes.

When a government gets it 's money from resources, it stops caring about it's people. When it gets it's money from wages, it wants to keep wages high.

  • I like these points. Just legalizing cannabis but keeping it illegal to grow yourself would have great impact.

Suddenly you have the option available legally for money, and hopefully the risk of arrest for growing yourself is not worth it, just like making your own alcohol.

A big part would also be how society and cultures view where and when it's ok to use it, like how alcohol is generally viewed as a late-night party drug.

  • I'm sick of these fake news anchors, they are so fake and phony and stupid and arrogant and uptight with their fake smiles, they don't have a brain in their head!

  • this whole country is completely ass backwards when it comes to handling "substances" .. most states alcohol laws are still ridiculous, this is why you have binge drinking and large amounts of DUI where it is almost unheard of in most of Europe

My only concern with this as with all substances is to have strict rules to make sure professionals aren't under the influence while working (pilots, doctors, machine operators, etc)

  • even if they tax the shit out of it we can still grow it easily so dont trip

  • heard a great point on the documentary "The Union: Business Behind Getting High"....someone said "getting a marijuana sales license should be incredibly hard to get...and very easy to lose" I think thats the perfect idea.....because if your going to be a shady store owner and let kids get regulated marijuana....then you should lose your license and be prosecuted with no questions asked!

  • last time I checked....Tobacco kills 450,000 people a year.....and, oh wait!!!! not a single death from marijuana...in the recorded history of the WORLD?! hmmmmmm......how bout Tobacco Free America? nahhhhhh, god forbid we have to stop sucking on nicotine.

  • You're right, these uptight idiots don't know shit! If they are so concerned about our health, they would make alcohol and cigarettes illegal, Marijuana kills 0 people, even fucking aspirin kills thousands, prescription drugs kills over 100 thousand.

The reason Marijuana is illegal is because of MONEY!! There is so much money being made because it's illegal. People need to wake up, Marijuana is much safer than most shit people take, and it has health benefits for most all health issues too.

  • @Ryan4m562 There's studies being done into the effect of marijuana on the lungs. It appears it could be three times worse for your lungs, though the study is ongoing.

  • This judge gives some very good arguments to legalize. I agree with him completely, and I wish the world would hurry up and get with the times. There are no good arguments to keep cannabis illegal, and many to give it similar status as alcohol/tobacco.

I've never met someone who's done the research on the subject, with an objective mind, and still thinks it should stay illegal.

  • @Jotto999 Oh..there is a good reason for keeping weed illegal..the prison industrial complex. I'm with you but the prison guard lobby will fight you tooth and nail. Prisons are the 3rd largest growth industry in the United States of America.

  • if everyone is so worried about their kids then legalize it cause i'm 26 now so roughly about 10 years ago i started highschool and guess what i could buy pot or almost any other drug at school and guess what they didn't care who i was as long as i had the cash.

  • GOD DAMN, I LOVE ALL YOUR COMMENTS PEOPLE!!!! Honestly I was looking forward to bashing some conservative retards but all I see is love! GOOD JOB PEOPLE!

  • why should we keep it away from children if it's less dangerous than alcohol? (and about as dangerous as coffee)

  • sorry... less dangerous that coffee

  • so true....LD50 off by what, probably factors of ten

  • @pomelloknight It's not. Incomplete studies show it damages your brain and can be worse for your lungs than tobacco (not cancer causing, it just kills your lungs).

  • @shraka Lies.

  • @Havenfall Do you have any science to back that up?

  • @shraka - The first two regards information about mental health and pot. The latter are in reference to lung health and pot.

Iverson, Leslie. “Long-term effects of exposure to cannabis.” Current Opinion in Pharmacology 5(2005): 69-72.

Weiser and Noy. “Interpreting the association between cannabis use and increased risk of schizophrenia.” Dialogues in Clincal Neuroscience 1(2005): 81-85.

Turner, Carlton E. The Marijuana Controversy. Rockville: American Council for Drug Education, 1981.

  • @Havenfall Damn. Now that makes my argument really weak because I can't find MY studies. :(

  • @shraka

Plus, you have the complete lack of evidence for the idea. Can you cite a case of a marijuana only smoker getting black lung syndrome? A marijuana only smoker getting emphysema?

In 1995, based on thirty years of scientific research editors of the British medical journal Lancet concluded that "the smoking of cannabis, even long term, is not harmful to health."

  • @Havenfall I know, it's sort of embarrassing. I went looking after it was apparent you knew what you were talking about but I can't seem to find the study. It may not have been published yet. My sources are a documentary in which a medical researcher commented on the lung and brain damage shown in their ongoing study, and a few discussions with pre and post grads. I have a few friends who've graduated from medicine, I might run the studies you mentioned past them.

  • @shraka I think it was a DEA in Canada who called marijuana "The SAFEST, most therapeutically active substance, known to man."

  • @Havenfall This DEA person isn't necessarily a scientist. Like I said the studies are ongoing, so we'll see if these results are misrepresented or not once it hits peer review and critical commentary. As far as I'm aware there isn't a great deal of good research on this issue though, so I think it's premature to call it the safest drug.

I'm still pro de-criminalization though, even though I'm anti use. You can abuse your body with Alcohol and cigarettes, why not MJ?

  • @shraka

First off, decriminalization is a very silly concept. You still get fined for it, it's still more accessible to our kids (rather than being fully regulated like alcohol) it's still being trafficked (therefore the profits are going to) criminal drug dealers. Decriminalization is like worst of both worlds.

The DEA isn't a scientist, but he made this statement after going through two weeks of medical testimony about the drug. Which flies in the face of propaganda against pot.

  • @Havenfall Depends on the type of decriminalization. The type I'm talking about is taking away fines and prison time for USE, and maintain illegality of dealing. It's been shown to work in Portugal. I'm probably pro controlled full legalization depending on the implementation. I should have said I'm AT LEAST pro de-criminalization (the above form anyway).

And the DEA guy is still not a proper study.

  • @shraka

It's still a silly position. You think it's okay for adults to possess, but not sell it to other adults or grow it?

Well, that's because it wasn't a study. It was a series of presentations from different studies, so the DEA would be well informed and educated on it.

How much research have you done? Because the research seems to be overwhelmingly pointing to marijuana not causing any real health problems. Hopefully, you can check out some of the sources I cited.

  • @Havenfall I take that position because as the Portugal experiment with de-criminalization shows that CERTAINLY works to reduce addiction, and doesn't significantly increase any of the perceived negative effects. Like I said I'm open to the idea of legalization (with regulation), and the argument that it's your body, and as long as you don't harm anyone else holds a lot of sway with me.

  • @shraka

By the way, there is a great deal of research on this. Especially outside of the U.S., so I'm not sure how shallow you are going in getting information.

  • @Havenfall The stuff I'm talking about it out of England. I'm actually not in the U.S.

  • @shraka

Alright, then I'm just not sure why you seem to have this idea that there's not been a lot of research on it. We've had decades of research on it.

In 1995, based on thirty years of scientific research editors of the British medical journal Lancet concluded that "the smoking of cannabis, even long term, is not harmful to health."

  • @shraka well for starters I was not talking about tobacco but let's get to that later, anyways the INCOMPLETE study believes that a joint is 4 times as harmful to your lungs as a cigarette. now for starters a joint is the worst way to consume pot (in regards to health... among other things.) second, a stoner generally would smoke 1 joint a week, whereas a tobacco smoker smokes about 12 cigarettes a day, 12 X 7 (to make it a week) = 84. now for the joint, since it's 4 times as harmful it is...

  • @pomelloknight ...only 4, 84/4=21 thus tobacco is 21 times as bad for you as the least healthy way of smoking pot., and I personally think this study was lying and pot is much better for you than that. as for the brain damage, many studies say that it is good for your brain (the legitimate studies that is. and as for my very previous statement coffee is more harmful than pot obviously, since pot is good for you, and coffee is more addictive.

  • @pomelloknight "a stoner generally would smoke 1 joint a week"

Seriously guys, what planet do you live on?

Saying a stoner would smoke 1 joint/week is like saying an alcoholic drinks 1 beer/week. It's pure BS.

I have friends that I don't even consider as huge smokers and they take at least 3 joints a day! Plus the cigs on the side, of course. Some even smoke joints (big ones that is) like I smoke cigs, and I'd do pretty much the same if I had the money to do so.

    Get a grip...

  • Conservative???? This guy is a libertarian. Recognize the difference.

  • Holy shit this guy gives a concise argument. Fantastic points.

  • wise words, the simple truth, cant agree more.

  • Again it seems even when someone is in favor of Cannabis they just aren't educated enough about it. Cannabis should never be compared to alcohol and cigarettes as a health issue. Cannabis is healthy and regulates in a positive way everything in our body. The lies have satiated peoples minds so much that even when they see the benefit of making Cannabis legal they are not aware of how holistic it is for our health and well being. They just think "Oh No You'll Get High." Get Real and learn.

  • well, they have to talk about it that way, otherwise they'll see the guy as another pothead more who wants to get high.

talking about herb from a more neutral logic point of view works better.

  • u cant compare marijuana to tobacco thats ridiculous this guy seriously knows nothing of marijuana at all marijauna = good... tobacco = death that simple

  • man fuck that stupid old fucking laughing retard it can help the economy the only reason why he is laughing is because he has a good fucking job he looks at if it were joke

  • I love how one of the TV commentators "asked a question" by saying that Netherlands has so many problems, and do we want to have those problems too?

He clearly has done no research, because Netherlands has far fewer problems (drug related or otherwise!) than the US does.

  • Just like alcohol prohibition turned the market over to the criminal element, it is the same with drugs. Heavily regulate, tax, and legalize drugs. Use the taxes to treat addicts who will exist whether drugs are legal or not.

  • smoking weed doesn't make you drive any worse. federal studies have shown this. why do you think supreme court judges are supporting this act? they wouldn't if it was in any way unsafe.

no one dies from smoking weed. i've had friends who have been killed or brain damaged in alcohol related accidents, and i'm only 21 years old. it may be a morbid outlook, but statistics show i'm probably going to lose a few more friends and family members due to alcohol in the rest of my life.

  • @sheepiroth "smoking weed doesn't make you drive any worse. "

WHAT? Have you ever smoked weed?

I'm sorry but as much as I enjoy being stoned every now and then, it does corrupt one's ability to focus and do pretty much anything correctly. It's not the case for everyone, but laws ARE for everyone.

It's the same thing for alcohol. Some will be dead drunk with a single beer, others would need 10+

I do agree with the core of your speech though, it's just that your arguments are really wrong.

  • @yumeN0dengon

There is absolutely no evidence that marijuana contributes to car accidents, or impairs your ability. I cannot count how many times I have been stoned out of my mind and driven, and I've never been in an accident in my life.

There's been double blind studies, and almost EVERY result shows that people who smoked pot were more cautious, and did better.

  • @Havenfall I don't really give a damn about ythese studies. I have a very concrete case, which is my own experience. I do smoke weed, very little most of the time but I tend to smoke A LOT on occasions (holidays and such). I know what it does to me and my ability to concentrate and get certain things dones.

When I try working while I'm stoned, I make a lot more mistakes, I have BIG trouble focusing on simple tasks.

  • @Havenfall I seriously cannot imagine driving like that, considering the need to be both focused on many tasks and be very responsive.

Now, maybe you can drive just as well when you're stoned, good for you then. After all, most of my friends have been driving after they smoked and they never crashed either. So either they haven't crashed YET, or they're just people who can actually drive when they're high. Just like some people can drive while being drunk, and others simply thought they could...

  • @yumeN0dengon

I know bunches of people who can drive while stoned. In fact, I've never met a person who had a problem with it. I don't have any problem focusing on multiple things while I'm high.

After all, pot is quite commonly used, yet you never hear of anyone getting in a crash because their high. I've never heard of anyone getting in a crash because they were high, except when alcohol was also involved.

  • @Havenfall I guess we have very different definitions of "high". I for one am a complete wreck when I'm high.

Also, you need to understand that most people who crash because they're drunk were also convinced they could drive, and most of them had probably driven while drunk many times before. You also have to consider the fact that alcohol is used a LOT more than pot, etc etc.

I'm not saying noone can drive while high though, just that driving on drugs (any drug) is always taking risks.

  • @yumeN0dengon

And I'm saying that you're making baseless statements, with absolutely no evidence. Except your own personal experience, which doesn't seem to be congruent with most people's experience.

I am NEVER a "complete wreck" when I'm high. And by "high" I mean as high as weed can get me. I mean hell, I go to work when I'm high, I've given presentations to my bosses while I'm high.

Are you sure you're not smoking something with little crystals on it? lolz

  • @Havenfall I see you're from the states. And I hear what you guys smoke barely ressembles what we smoke here in France. A friend of mine spent last summer in the US and he told me that what he smoked there not only tasted bad but was very weak. I haven't tested it myself, but if you can give presentations after you've smoked, then clearly we're not dealing with the same products. I recon you'd be a mess if you smoked what I smoke.

(fyi, some weeds do have crystals on them, such as the Shiva ;) )

  • @yumeN0dengon

Yeah, somehow I don't buy anything you're saying, sorry. Anyone who's a "complete wreck" after smoking weed, is either a very odd person, or isn't smoking weed. I've smoked weed in Amsterdam, England, India, and Canada.

I don't buy any of it, sorry. It really sounds like you don't have any experience with weed at all, to be honest.

  • @yumeN0dengon

If you're a "complete wreck" then you're either some weird person, or you're not smoking cannabis. I suspect you've only been high once or twice, and you're exaggerating for some retarded reason.

But I'm calling bullshit, and I bet most people, in the states or not, would agree with me.

  • @Havenfall sent you a pm cuz the characters limit is too much of a pain in the ass.

  • @Havenfall Btw, just for the record, I was responding to the first post that is displayed, which is literally a combo of BS:

"smoking weed doesn't make you drive any worse. " yes it does, just like two beers do.

"why do you think supreme court judges are supporting this act?" has hte guy even watched the video? they do it for the economy, because the drug is used anyway.

"no one dies from smoking weed." no comment

Not mentionning the statistics BS cuz I'm out of characters, but idiotic as well.

  • @Havenfall Hey, one last thing: "the most common short-term physical and neurological effects include increased heart rate, lowered blood pressure, impairment of short-term episodic memory, working memory, psychomotor coordination, and concentration". Taken from the wiki page of Marijuana.

"impairement of psychomotor coordination and concentration". So there you go, so much for my own (and all of my friends') experience not being congruent with most people's experience :o

  • @yumeN0dengon

    I don't buy it.

There is no compelling evidence that marijuana contributes substantially to traffic accidents and fatalities. At some doses, marijuana affects perception and psychomotor performances- changes which could impair driving ability. However, in driving studies, marijuana produces little or no car-handling impairment- consistently less than produced by low moderate doses of alcohol and many legal medications.

  • @yumeN0dengon

In contrast to alcohol, which tends to increase risky driving practices, marijuana tends to make subjects more cautious. Surveys of fatally injured drivers show that when THC is detected in the blood, alcohol is almost always detected as well. For some individuals, marijuana may play a role in bad driving. The overall rate of highway accidents appears not to be significantly affected by marijuana's widespread use in society.

  • you are an idiot. Please do us all a favor and take your own life. People will not suddenly do heroin just because it is legal. Besides if we are talking about just marijuana lets look at Mexico a country that has been essentially destroyed because of our shitty policies. A mix between drug policy and trade policy has essentially allowed illegal cartels to control the drug trade. Mexico has decriminalized small amounts for personal use. It needs to be legalized to destroy the cartels.

  • There will be less crime. Marijuana is not as addictive or as damaging as alcohol and to say marijuana causes crime is like saying have sex CAUSES AIDS. We are killing more people putting more people in jail and limiting freedoms by keeping it illegal. O and people are using Marijuana for RECREATION and good for them. People should be allowed to use drugs to relieve stress, especially if they can do use responsibly, it is one of the leading causes of disease.

  • o and about the car accidents... I hope someone talking on a cell phone crashes into you. Yeah all the crime in Netherlands omg do people actually buy these blatant lies?? The Netherlands has LESS crime than we do. They have less drug use as well. Weird huh? I want stores where I can go show ID and buy marijuana. I want to own a smoke shop where people can go get food and smoke marijuana and listen to music. I want to see hemp as a large industry bigger than soy wheat and corn combined.

  • Look at mexico? Its illegal there too, is it working? no

Look at the netherlands, marijuana legal, less consumption than in the usa, less crime, less overdoses.

  • You're an idiot. Legalizing drugs won't cause more crime... It would cause dealers and cartels to go out of business. The government would profit. Drug users can get their drug of choice. Do you think people don't do drugs now? I bet you we would barely see an increase of drug usage...

  • Fool!

Netherlands got the lowest rate in cannabis consumption, compared to all other European countries.

  • this guy convinced me. It's not perfect solution -- there IS no perfect solution.

But gangs, thugs, organized crime all thrive on the money that comes from this stuff. The murders -- the huge jails -- the corruption.

So pull the rug out from under this whole sorry mess.

Yes there will be problems -- there are problems with alcohol now. Problems with cigarettes now, ect. But prohibition of booze was a total failure.

People will get the pot anyway. Lets tax it.

  • doesn't anyone understand that the worst drug out there is already legalized. tobacco is responsible for more deaths than alchohol, aids, and homicide... combined. if it doesn't take that fact alone to make people realize that prohibition is not trying to help anyone, than what will. the prohibition is just another way of taking peoples rights away. but we are powerful as individuals and even more powerful in unity. there shouldn't be a large number of groups against prohibition, only one giant.
