@christianzen2004 you are correct to say that the person is not lifting the complete weight during the full movement, however this type of training falls under "accommodating resistance." The weight gets heavier during the top of the movement where the movement is at it's easiest and vise-versa. So you train heavier where you are strongest and lighter where you are weakest.
