Rofl ... LEARN TO DRIVE BRO. Crossing arms is all good but at least do it hand over hand ahahahaha .. you spastic. G25 has the 900 degree rotation too, why are you using 200!? WEAK. I want one but I'm not going to spend ridiculous amounts of cash on it for something that's only a little better than the Logitech DFP .. think I'll get a DFP.
what does whether you used a laptop or not have to do with showing the wheel? especially because you put it on a normal monitor anyway and have an auxilary keyboard for it.
The G25 uses a 900 degree lock to lock system. Its more realistic than your typical wheel which only does about 270 lock to lock. The wheel is not broken.
The Noise is from the gears inside the wheel, the new G25 uses a planetary gear system if im not mistaken, and is alot quieter. but itsnormal
@TheNik7 race drivers cross their arms all the time, keeping both hands on the wheel...especially rally & F1....check out in car videos right here on YouTube
@TheNik7 thats only when in a real car they reason why you shouldnt have your arms crossed is because if the airbag goes off then you could break your face in a car without an airbag its ok
@mastaace604 real race cars have very little steering lock & don't require turning the wheel this much...this "900 degrees thing" is for street cars...race drivers don't perform "hand over hand"
frist off you cant shift from 5th to 3rd at that speeds with out tearing something up in a real car! i kow i havea P.O.S. ford aspire and the trans. is about gone from just shifting from 5th to 3rd at only 35 to 30 mph!
I never used them, but as far as I know the G25 delivers the best experience around. Definitely worth the investment - has already provided me hours upon hours of sheer fun!
if ur on a budget get the DFGT mines just arrived from an upgrade from a dfp but i aint getting a g25 not until all my moneys sorted cos its all over the place atm.
@Grayqboufan im aware of that, if you noticed i was telling another person that its not that easy for a corvette to get up to 300 mph so its obviously kph
1- You should have calibrated you wheel. It looks pretty bad having to almost complete a whole turn on the wheel while the car in-game turns only a little bit.
I dont know if you have a drivers license, but if i saw you in a car, crossing arms like that i would chop your arms off :p. Sorry, just stop doing that, VERY bad habbit, (What if you needed to increase your steering radius even an inch more?
How hard could it be for you to at least bother reading some of my comments bellow - I'm sure they'll explain everything you were complaining about...
The reason that i mentioned it is the fact that this is just a game, no damage done, however if he makes this into a habit he would adopt this crossover steering into real life. And my self as a guy whom drive on the raceway, never execute crossover steering even there, its not required, BMW 320i E36. The thing is automatic wheel return, so steer into sharp turns without crossover and let the wheel flow, as you straighten up the car, no problem.
Unfortunately not in this game - only thing is that the revs would sorta jump with a "painful" noise. However, in other games like TDU, you won't be able to change gears without pressing the clutch.
Secondly, speaking of cross overs, while they're not exactly the best thing to do on public roads since they greatly minimize the turning ability of the vehicle; they can be quite useful on a race track when a large steering angle has to be achieved in minimum time. Besides, most race cars have much less degrees of steering rotation, resulting in a steering potential that can be exploited with great success using cross overs...
First of all, my driving in the vid sorta sucks since I was still getting used to the G25 back then. I still had no experience with altering the steering lock/sensitivity or anything. Currently, I am able to set up the cars in the game much more effectively, resulting in much less hand cross overs.
Let me give an example with Corvette C5. The real life C5 has a 16.1:1 steering ratio, and 2.5 turns lock-to-lock. Since GTR2 limtis us to a maximum of 23.0 degrees of steering lock in car setup, we can set the lock-to-lock angle in the Logitech Profiler to 23*16.1*2 ~= 740 degrees, and use 23 degrees of steering lock in car setup.
Now, the C5-R, i think, has a shortened lock-to-lock angle of 1.3 turns, so you can use 468 degrees rotation, and (468/2) / 16.1 ~= 14.5 degrees of steering lock.
if you will drive like this and street cops will arrest you, because you cant put hands crosswise while you are steering!!!!! and you need bigger display like mine - 22", it is not so expensive only 130 Ls.
unless you have the police going up to your window and look in your car while you are turning i don't know how they would be able to tell that you are doing it wrong
i'm 22, i've had my license for almost 5 years. they will take a point of your exam for doing it, but no one is going to arrest us. it's probably different in the US than where you live

y do u say that?? Is is because the way how he shift gears. I notice how he went from gear 5 to like gear 2 without even touching 3 and 4. In real cars, wouldnt that just screw the transmission over?
So you say that you never changed to 2nd from 4th or higher? It won't srew the gearbox if you slow down enough... But his whole drivin' technique wouldn't be doable in real life. Almost full wheel-turn at eau-rouge? Impossible...
You can adjust the amount of turn needed in games and in the wheels settings. Naturally, no more than 180 degrees of movement is needed in games of this type.
I dont think modern simulators take into account transmission speed when downshifting, so they dont penalize for too large downshifts. In real life of course getting to gear 2 from a speed of 60mph would be unhealthy for all parties.
But isn't it possible to control that with the clutch? Use the downshifting to help with braking and use the clutch to "get off" the gear if the load becomes to much for the gearbox.
No, even if you normally press the clutch, you cannot move the gear in. I dont know technically what causes this, but there clearly is some safety measure so you couldnt accidentally engage too small gear.
have you driven a manual car in real life???of course you can skip gears when downshifting or upshifting..as long as you match the rpms your fine...have you ever heard of heel-toe??
Um, yea, I've always driven a manual. Yes, you can skip gears. I challenge you, do 60mph on fourth and shift down to second. Good luck.
Heel toe? First of all, that has nothing to do with this conversation, if you cant shift without heeltoe, you suck. Its a method used in completely different situations. Do you know what it is?
umm yes I can go from 4th gear at 60mph to 2nd gear...it matters on the fearing of the car...like i said if you match rpms its not a problem...and i bring up heel toe because it has everything to deal with this...reving it up to engine brake?? sounds like the same thing...maybe you should go around the block a few times in a manual to know what your talking about
First of all, apparently you drive cars with different gearboxes. I have not used FORCE to do it, and will not. It is apparent that the lever does not "want" to enter the slot.
I dont get to the RPM matching part, because the damn stick wont go where its supposed to!
Heel-toe means braking while applying acceleration AND pressing the clutch. I use the engine to brake in most situations. When possible, the engine is all that is needed, not the brakes, which is what heel-toe means.
I think this is why you cant engage gear with great speed differences.
"Until synchronization occurs, the teeth are prevented from making contact, because further motion of the selector is prevented by a blocker (or "baulk") ring. When synchronization occurs, friction on the blocker ring is relieved and it twists slightly, bringing into alignment certain grooves and notches that allow further passage of the selector which brings the teeth together."
Your a bumb ass. Synchronization YES, what do you think happens when you blip the throttle?
If you knew anything of what you are talking about, you would know that a skilled driver would even be able to do 60mph in 4th and shift to 2nd even without using the clutch AND without any kind of force. As long as you match the revs of the engine with the revs needed for that speed in 2nd, the teeth will match speed and the gear will slip right in.
no, you can even do it in a dump truck. since when you match the revs then gears ARE synchronized.
Anyway even if you use clutch and shift down through all gears, in a race car you still have to blip the throttle when releasing the clutch, otherwise the rear wheels lock up from the strong engine braking that these cars have and you end up spinning
Yes. I know. This is the point I'm trying to make; the gear will NOT go in even though you would match the gears (or it will take longer than I can be bothered to wait).
Well, we can't really know that because we don't know how much wheel lock the guy has set the car up with. Also, the degrees of possible rotation on the wheel he's using isn't the same as the degrees of rotation on the virtual car's wheel.
Well the engine on that game is about the same as in rFactor, and in rFactor the visual steering wheel radius has nothing to do with how much the car actually turns. It always stays the same, only the effect changes.
Most (if not all) cars use sequential gearboxes. Most have normal up and down shifters and the others (like Ferrari) have paddle shifters. As you can see on the screen, the C5R utilizes a normal shifter, as the driver's hand goes down every time I shift gears.
1) I use both 540 and 270 degrees in the game. In my opinion, 540 degrees of rotation are better for longer circuits like SPA and the Nordschleife, because of their large variety of different corners. This allows more precise car control in all those different corners.
The hands movement in GTR2 is very unrealistic. If you'd steer like that with the default car setup steering lock (15 deg), you'd get a steering ratio of about 8:1, which is maybe appropriate for a go-kart, but not for a GT car. Most of real-life GT cars have steering ratios somewhere between 14:1 and 16:1 (same steering racks like their street counterparts).

It just depends on the car. I've tried this many times and apparently non-synchro gear boxes are the only ones where this can be achieved.
latuman 2 years ago
no, you can even do it in a dump truck. since when you match the revs then gears ARE synchronized.
Anyway even if you use clutch and shift down through all gears, in a race car you still have to blip the throttle when releasing the clutch, otherwise the rear wheels lock up from the strong engine braking that these cars have and you end up spinning
ibytedk 2 years ago
Yes. I know. This is the point I'm trying to make; the gear will NOT go in even though you would match the gears (or it will take longer than I can be bothered to wait).
latuman 2 years ago
Well, we can't really know that because we don't know how much wheel lock the guy has set the car up with. Also, the degrees of possible rotation on the wheel he's using isn't the same as the degrees of rotation on the virtual car's wheel.
Joule413 3 years ago 2
Well the engine on that game is about the same as in rFactor, and in rFactor the visual steering wheel radius has nothing to do with how much the car actually turns. It always stays the same, only the effect changes.

The gearbox is sequential. The driver reaches for the shifter only to push or pull it.Dunno why are you changing manually.
MercSLRFan 3 years ago
Not being completely authentic doesn't hurt in my opinion. I'm personally more comfortable with using the H-pattern gearbox than the sequential one.

What is the squeeky sound everytime you turn the steering wheel?
eSpringPellet 3 years ago
I'm pretty that the sound is coming from the two motors inside the steering wheel which create the force feedback.
It really is not nearly as annoying as it may seem from the video.

can you use the fm gering?

doesnt the real C5r and C6r have paddle shifters instead??? I thought they dont use manual gear boxes in those racing models.
Phar2Rekliss 3 years ago
Most (if not all) cars use sequential gearboxes. Most have normal up and down shifters and the others (like Ferrari) have paddle shifters. As you can see on the screen, the C5R utilizes a normal shifter, as the driver's hand goes down every time I shift gears.
Don't know about the C6R though...

dude set your rotation to 240 for GTR2, its what the cars in it are set at (your hands will be moving with the computer hands like they should)
Question, why dont you have force feedback on?
KillaJG11 3 years ago
1) I use both 540 and 270 degrees in the game. In my opinion, 540 degrees of rotation are better for longer circuits like SPA and the Nordschleife, because of their large variety of different corners. This allows more precise car control in all those different corners.
2) Force feedback was and always is on.
ilyazippo 3 years ago
The hands movement in GTR2 is very unrealistic. If you'd steer like that with the default car setup steering lock (15 deg), you'd get a steering ratio of about 8:1, which is maybe appropriate for a go-kart, but not for a GT car. Most of real-life GT cars have steering ratios somewhere between 14:1 and 16:1 (same steering racks like their street counterparts).
