people fight in hockey because the fans like to see it. also hockey players are constantly pounding eachother with hugh checks so they like to get back at eachother by fighting. also fighting is a way to get your team back in the game momentum wise and it can swing the momentum of the game with one fight. plus they have pads on while basketball players don't.

There are many black players. Most are very good fighters. Others are all around very good players such as Jerome Iginla, he's a captain, scrapper, goal scorer and all around great player. Donald Brashear (fighter), Georges Laraque (fighter), Wayne Simmonds (fighter), etc etc.

Basketball and Hockey are incomparable. They are two different sports even though on paper they look the same their execution is not. Hockey is a high speed sport and the violence is allowed not only for logistical reasons being that all the players can't stop on a dime to pass the puck and go, but for entertainment as well. Basketball shouldn't be that hard to avoid hitting someone and you can see when its intentional or not. But two different sports that are not in league with each other.
