  • Woohoo! Phi Chi Theta! You just made my life easier!

  • Making my pledge semester so much easier! :3

  • I find it amusing just how upset people are getting about the American "bastardization" of the Greek alphabet. Different countries are constantly borrowing things from other cultures and changing them to fit their own needs. And it's not as if America has never been borrowed from. Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, anyone?

  • This might be the Greek alphabet pronounciation for sororities and fraternities in the United States for Americans and for fun. Not for Greek language learning. The pronounciation is completely wrong. Do not pronounce letters like this if you ever visit Greece, they will laugh at you!

  • You pronounce the Greek alphabet like a malaka...

  • I laugh when i listen to you people say the greek alphabet. Its just to damn funny, the pronunciation is awful..

  • Oh my gosh Thank you so much! This makes my pledging homework sooo much easier! :)

  • go fuck you hole ass

  • Thank you have to resite this for school!

  • Thanks this is really helpful!

  • the idea is great, and i guess it's perfect for a frat or sorority. but the pronounciations are american. not greek. srsly though, awesome, thanx for posting. ^^

  • i know this song by heart (:

  • Thumbs up if your greek and know it off by heart (:

  • I wonder if the easily offended Greek folks (as in the folks from Greece) are taking on Math teachers as well- Phi vs Phee. Probably not. Probably only black sororities and frats.

  • Good job!:)

  • wtf is this-.-?

  • All the pronunciation is WRONG!!Greek is not like that ..Very very BAD!!!

  • @thecns92 ela re file mhn perimeneis apo kapoious me mia toso eykolh glwssa na boroun na proferoun swsta mia apo tis dyskoloteres glwsses toy kosmoy(kai signomi pou grafw etsi alla to pliktrologio mou den exei ellhnika)

  • PRONUNCIATION IS WRONG

  • This song makes me wanna punch someone in the face.

  • if i were to say (sing) the greek alphabet like this to my bros, they would slap the shit out of me

  • mu and nu should go together... no pause

  • The more you listen to this song, the ladies voice gets increasingly sexy...after about 10 times i just wanted to have sex with her.

  • @Nchoules93 haha nate

  • as in the english word BOOTS

  • isnt it the UPSILON should be pronounced as ooPSILON and not ePSILON?

  • @alangname it's YPSILON because it have to start with the same letter as the one you want to say

  • THIS ACTUALLY WORKED!! thx! :)

  • Why do these Americans (anglos) come up with their own gay pronounciations, butchering the Greek alphabet in the process. It's called being negligent & ignorant. Ask a Greek for the right pronounciation & quit botching my damn language u reckless fools

  • @SpartanKing2782 Ha! Then why the fuck are you on a page to learn the alphabet? At no point in my life have I searched YouTube to learn or pronounce English. Seems you're here looking for a fight...which is lame.

  • I=IT IS NOT (I)=YIOTA

  • @skyrosforever I completely agree!! I hate it when they pronounce the letters wrong. Ps, im greek to. Eimai apo thn 9essalonikh :)

  • @ellomayy I hate it to,believe me! Im like WTF! If you cant prounounce it then you should not upload it here so that other people learns to prounounce it wrong! Ps. Im ALSO GREEK and im just siting and laughing as hell. O Xristos kai i Panagia eleos! Hahaha : )

  • why don't you guys tell all the engineers and mathematicians that they're pronouncing all of the letters wrong too?

  • @drikinnocence

i am greek and have lived in Greece most of my life and i find it offensive when the greek alphabet is butchered like this. i dont care if you are in a sorority or whatever, youre not greek and youre being disrespectful for not caring

  • @skyrosforever I speak English and have my whole life. I find it offensive when you try to write in English and use incorrect grammar.

  • you sing pretty :)

  • Θεέ μου. Η προφορά είναι φοβερή! -.-

  • That' not greek alphabet. It's the mars

     alphabet

  • Its a cuuute song geez stop hating on the pronounciation its not suppose to be a professional greek singing it lol

  • difficult yes or NOT

  • Comment removed

  • that was worse pronounciation i have ever heard. you said every single letter incorrectly. please take greek lessons!

    sincerily,

    someone who is actually greek

    vlameni.

  • @skyrosforever Some sororites don't require to do the actual Greek pronunciations. There are two ways the Greek pronunciation which is probably what you consider right and then there is the English. So everybody has more than one way.

The only one she really pronounced wrong was Tau. so all is well.

  • Tau is pronounced Tall but without the ll's

    Representing Tau Phi Delta

  • i'm just confused why people are still commenting about the sound. its not the purpose of this video. go to a different video if you want the "correct" sounds.

  • @ashleyyyxb

I don't really watch the charts, is this song a hit or something? I don't thing so...

If you were learning the french alphabet, would it be right to pronounce the R letter as in english, as in french OR it makes no difference ?

What is the purpose of this video?

  • @franknwalters anyone that is pledging a fraternity or sorority needs to know the greek alphabet, so there you have it, 161448 pledges haha

  • @sk8dude648

So, anyone who goes to college the first thing he learns is the Greek alphabet...

Ok, I got it. But still once you're learning something you could do it the right way. Anyway...

Thanx and have a nice college life. : )

  • no one cares what the real sound of the letters are. in America we learn these as a part of Greek life which really has nothing to do with greece

  • The reason why is "Mu" & "Nu" instead of "Mi" (as in "miss") & "Ni" (as in "Nick") is simple.

Τhe ancient greeks used the Upsilon (Ύψιλον) instaed of Iota (Γιώτα) -these two letters pronounced ALMOST the same in the word Mυ- to pronounce the Greek letter M.

Greek "Μυ" became the english "Mu".

The Greeks use letters that sounds ALMOST the same (Ο/Ω , Η/Ι/Υ or combinations: ΑΙ like E, OI/EI like H) in a very advanced way, for grammatical and pronunciation reasons. It's a very advanced language...

  • this is ancient greek which is dead language this is the language the Romans used as the common language and the same language the bible was written in...also btw whoever is singing has a beautiful voice

  • @TheFlameanator This is not ancient Greek. This is the modern Greek alphabet used today. And the Bible's OT was written in Hebrew and Aramaic and the NT was on those two languages, then written in Ancient Greek, which included these letters and a few others that have since been deleted.

  • @Elise781 this is ancient Greek trust me I am taking ancient Greek right now...and btw the Old Testament was also written in Greek and was called the Septuagint just to be clear

  • @Elise781

The ancient and the modern is one and the same.

  • I think this is Old-Greek.

  • Thanks for making studying for my pledge quiz easier!

  • Great Song.! iNeed2Remember The Alphabet And It Helped*:D IS IT JUST ME OR WAS THERE A MICROWAVE ON IN THE BACK ROUND.!?! LOL

  • u dont say it like that

  • this is for college greek life not speaking greek stop hatin.

  • this isnt so we can speak greek you dumb ass's its part of new greek ed' so calm down ahhaha

  • during the video i was thinking "where is the greek alphabet" but then i understood the vid was over and no correct form of the letters appeared. u cant teach the others if u dont know it urself.

  • this is totally wrong:P

  • thank god for this video, put this on repeat while i was studying and i know it so well for my fraternity quiz tomorrow, thank you so much

  • Hi, im Greek and the pronunciation is completely wrong for most of the letters.

  • well the correct pronunciation is: alpha,vee-ta, gamma, thelta(the, not de), ep-silon, zee-ta, ee-ta, thee-ta, yota, kappa, lam-tha, mee, nee, ksee, omik-ron, p(as the english one), rho, see-gma, tough (as the english word), eep-silon, phee, he, psee, omega. the reason why i wrote those is cuz nobody can pronounce them appropriately :p but u were close...

  • why can't anyone pronounce them right? >:( this is nothing like the actual sound

  • this is a good way to teach the alphabet but im greek myself and this is not how you pronounce the alphabet, just sayin!!!!

  • @heyitzeva13 This is how we say it for Fraternities and Sororities in America. Not sure why they changed the pronunciations for the letters, but it was done hundreds of years ago so it's much too hard to change now :). It's like calling Japan Japan even though they call themselves "Nippon."

  • I'm Greek and I would like to tell you that we do not pronounce the alphabet like this. It sounds rediculous!!!

  • I noticed the gross mispronounciations of the Greek Alphabet sounds when I went on a website to get audio versions of the alphabet. Its actually making me reconsider pledging because historically, we have not taken the strides to pronounce the hijacked alphabet correctly. Can't be too much integrity in that...!

  • could someone PLEASE send this to the Prime Minister of Greece?

  • @alexandertechnology he is half american. it wouldn't do much good.

  • i gotta learn this to get 20 dollars from the principal

  • fantastic

  • oh Jesus...I'm Greek and believe me we don't pronounce the alphabet like this..

    helltzo994 you're absolutely right!!

  • She is pronouncing it how the College greek do it!!! Great Job!!!

  • @3Strykes04 thank you for clearing it up for all these ppl who clearly have never heard of fraternities before.

  • @melholmes11 or who are actually learning Greek XD

  • whats that?? :O this is not right... it has wrong pronunciation

με όλα αυτά τα βίντεο στο youtube ξέχασα και γω την αλφαβήτα-.-

  • good vid

  • Ese san lene ee mexicani

    GRINGA

  • She says upsilon as epsilon, and epsilon as epsilon.

  • wrong pronunciation..

Φ = F, Fi as in the word fiction

    X = chi , it's pronounced like H in the word Horror

Ψ = PSI but the I sounds like the I in the word Idiot. not psai. psee!

M = me. not mu. Mu is the sound of the cows. not a letter

    N = ni , like nick

Ξ = ksee. the ee sounds like in the word knee.

I = is not exactly Iota. in the song it sounds like ai ota, but it's more like giota (or Iota but please say I as in the word Idiot)

    The rest is almost ok.

  • @helltzo994 On thing I've noticed about the correct pronunciation of I is that when said quickly the I and O combine into a diphthong and make it sound very much like "yota".

  • @VFB1210 there are six ways to write e. the e you hear when you say the word ebay Ι , Η . Υ , ΕΙ , ΟΙ , ΥΙ . using the wrong e to write a word is as wrong as writing delishus instead of delicious. there are also 2 ways to write the e you hear in the word error. Ε and ΑΙ. and two for the o as in orphan, Ο and Ω. greek grammar is beautiful and difficult as hell. think twice before you mess with it !!! :)

  • Thanks!!!!!!!!!!! I won the challenge that my social studies teacher gave me!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ok, m'ola ayta ta tragoudia sto youtube, 3exasa thn alfa vhta....

  • @nirvanoni xaxa den exeis k adiko k egw exw xazepsei simera pou kathsa na ta dw lol

  • i hate this song they played it in skool 1000 time in 1 minute

  • wow this really helped me! i need it for a math test.... thanx!!!!!

  • Why do American students in fraternities etc need to learn it, is it because they have Greek letters?

  • @LEK2129 Yes. All Greek orgs (fraternities and sororities) are named with greek letters. So in order to join they must learn the entire greek alphabet.

  • thanx u helped me learn greek alphabet :) xx

  • guys come on i'm also greek(geia paidia) but it's difficult for a foreigner to pronounce greek alphabet

  • @CHRISTOKONI xaxaxa m'eresei p les geia paidia gia n s pistepsoume! lol

  • @elenitsa123456789

  • WRONG!

  • this is my physics extra credit.. learn the greek alphabet. haha

  • you rock so hard. Frat pledge test coming up. i'm going to be humming this all day

  • ya that isnt the right sounds as he said

  • @westerntrainmaniac

    From Greece? You mean Hellas?

the moderns have changed a lot of things. For example, they have itacism, changing vowel sounds to ee in English (i in most languages). Sorry it is mu, not mi!!! If you don't believe me ask Plato (Platon).

  • @Thunkful2 youre not greek! skase vlaka

  • My teacher showed us this ALL PERIOD over and over and its a 60min period. No way am i forgetting the Greek alphabet. x]

  • Let's name the zones, the zones, the zones! Let's name the zones of the open sea!

    Finding nemo?

  • @westerntrainmaniac

this is geared toward american greek life at colleges, aka sororities and fraternities, not the greek language

  • Guys who actually are Greek/speak Greek/study Greek . . .I think this song is more just for remembering the Greek alphabet for fraternity/sorority/greek organization purposes. In greek organizations, we say mu, nu, etc.

  • i need to learn this in one week!:) But doesn't matter greek life is legit!<3

  • Some letters r pronounced completely wrong, even though there r words in english that, when pronounced, sound much closer to the actual greek letter. These are: mu=me nu=knee pi=pee rho=raw phi=fee chi=he And some more advise: beta=vee-ta eta=ee-ta xi= like the 2nd syllable of the word "aCCIdent" or like "aXIs" psi=like the 2nd syllable of the word "pePSI" upsilon=hip-see-lawn iota= like the word "toΥΟΤΑ" (but without the first syllable (to))
  • @CthuluCthulian add to that: TAU=TOUGH

  • Listening to this over and over and over again in an attempt to not fail the pledge test. TFM.

  • lol its not beta its acherly veta

  • this is the best one! Thanks for saying it alot!!

  • That sexy voice help me learn this so quick, 25x listen 2 this, who is that greek goddess sanging tho?

  • lol pi roh

  • Tannks soooo much. This was very helpful.

  • u sound like a retard thats completely wrong learn how to pernounce the letters then come back to youtube

  • Successfully Pledging=Listen to this song 50 times.

  • @Semenator truth!!!

  • It's obvious that she's singing the ancient greek alphabet and not the modern greek alphabet. Yes they look exactly the same, but different pronunciation. Great video! It helped me as you started to slow down and the repetition helped too.

  • thank you so much! I learned to recite this in 2 sittings, and now I can say my alphabet a lot faster.

  • I would NOT use this as a learning tool..she cannot pronounce the Greek Alphabet at all....

  • It's not MU but ME and not NU but NE!

Whoever created this guide I doubt that he/she knew the Greek alphabet.

  • i watched this in school the other day im in 7th

  • This helps so much when you are getting ready to pledge!!! THANKS!

  • This is helpful but your saying some of them wrong. I had trouble pronouncing them correctly too. xD

  • ...you are messing up the 14th letter...its is pronounced Z ...

  • My class listened to this today in class

  • Comment removed

  • @TYYK04 mine 2 wat grade r u

  • @SoBeThatWay 6th

  • @TYYK04 interesting..... me2

  • i had to sing this in 4th grade. Lol

  • thank you so much for this song. I'm starting greek and the alphabet in order was killing me a little bit. :]]]

  • This is the easiest way to remember it , thanks !!

  • shes saying it wrong

  • OMG i learned the the Greek alphabet know i just gota memorize it

  • hi, i'm greek and i live in athens..

this song is memorable, but it doesn't show the real sound of the letters in the greek alphabet...

actually what hit my eye was "Mu" and "Nu"..!! it's --> Me (as we say : me,myself and i!!) and Ni (as we say the name Nick...)

  • for all of those from Greece, its not meant to be accurate. It's meant for sororities and fraternities in America to learn the greek alphabet (whether it is completely off/butchered or not).

  • cool i didn't know that thanks

  • @geiaaa89 If it is the Koine Greek alphabet though, nobody actually knows how the letters were originally pronounced... very little modern Greek (both words and pronunciations) is used in the US.

  • @pastorboy0 Though I must add I was disappointed with the ξ pronunciation...

  • @geiaaa89 Mu and nu are old Greek. :p

  • Its great for remembering the order but not how to pronounce the letters.

  • Using a song isn't a bad way to learn, but creating a story for yourself to remember is actually much easier, and allows for you to much easier associate the symbols of each Greek letter more easily. Fastest and easiest way to learn is definitely throug this vid: watch?v=N0gUfuWoHJA

  • this video is awsome i have to learn it fror school and you have an awsome voise

  • its absolutly wrong. OMG... this is not the greek Alphabet... the most funny is on latter Π. its not spelling like pi... lol

  • @gapsis99 haterz gonna hate

  • This song is soo helpful, thanks a lot i have to have this memorized for my pledge meeting tomorrow night!

  • that didnt sound greek at all. i should know i speak it ... fluently -_____-

  • Thank you thank you thank you!!!! I learned the Greek alphabet so fast with this song!

  • @sparklegrl77 me too! after 5 minutes of watching this i got it down pat!

  • Thank you. I had to memorize this for my fraternity pledge and I watched your video like 10 times and now I know my shit!!! Thanks.

    VERY HELPFUL!

  • @besthouman what did you pledge?

  • @buttercj Fraternity...

  • @besthouman which one?

  • @buttercj Triangle

  • @besthouman whats ur fraternity?

  • @besthouman agreeed! great video!!!!

  • Best video i've seen so far on this!

  • @TeamMichigan112 lets see her sing this song while your doing that lol

  • thank you! So helpful!

  • Hi, im just trying to learn greek now. Am I right in thinking where we would say "A" they would say "Alpha"?

Im confused as here in england we also use alpha as part of the phonic alphabet. Am I right in thinking instead of "A B C" they say "Alpha Beta Gammer"? Ie the full words not just the starting letter?

    Hope this makes sense :/

  • @kolakube123 hey! the letter name is really how they call it, although almost all of those you hear in this music aren't the proper way to pronounce their names (in Greek). For example, Beta pronounces like "Vita" which is totally different from how we use to say.

  • cool
