@Desertphile Probably, it's a habit like any other. Yesterday the Trailbuilders got good exercise, the chainsaws and everything was carried up just past the 2 mile marker and then we got to work. By the time it was over I had to lay down and take a nap on Mouth Saint Hawkins fire break. :)
@davidsquall351 Everyone has been noting that it's like we skipped Winter entirely, yeah. And yeah, there were people hiking Windy Gap yesterday also, and while it was freezing cold and windy at the gap saddle itself, it was warm and Summery on the trail itself. :)
I've got a new mountain bike coming hopefully Monday or Tuesday, if the weather holds out I'm going to return to Monroe/
Nice video, I wish you would have taken longer shots of the area. I had to go back and pause many parts to get a better look at your panorama views of the valley and areas with in. Plus just so much to see, in the nature shots, I wanted to see more of it. Those skateboarders are crazy, if they get killed it is by choice, that's just crazy! On the road? down hill? Crazy maybe they are brain dead already and that's why?
@grangersmith When you said Mt Baldy, I had to look that up because Mt Baldy is in Wa state, in my neck of the woods, but towns have the same name all over the US, so why can't mountains. Found out it's real name is Mt San Antonio, and "Old Baldy" or "Mt Baldy" is it's nick name! Wow learn something new everyday.
@grangersmith Sorry last comment really! LOL oh and a federal park in Indiana called Indiana Dunes ,Mt Baldy. It seems that there are more too, use to live in Marin County and Santa Cruz and it seems that there is a Mt Baldy there too, at least in one of them! Must be a popular name for mt with no or few trees on them? ;D Oh and from above LA looks spooky to me, but not a city person so...;D
@grangersmith Oh man, GRS, Los Angeles *is* spooky, not only from a distance but also right up close. Technically where I am standing in this video I am outside of Los Angeles County though we get taxed as if we're in Los Angeles County, the map borders have been in dispute for like 60 years. But as you can see, when Los Angles gets nuked, we can hike up Monroe Truck Trail and gave over the ruins from a reasonably safe distance. :)
@grangersmith Oh yeah, that's another thing. Here in Southern California we call MtSAC "Mount Baldy" for historic reasons. Even the "San Gabriel Mountains" name is technically wrong since the U. S. Geological Survey and other official agencies don't have the actual proper paperwork filed which registers the name. That is in fact being fixed right now, the official names agency is rectifying the failure to register the name of the mountain, but yeah, Mount SAC. :)
@grangersmith Yeah, I should pause when I'm on long vistas, that's a good idea. Those skateboarders are crazy! But they never seem to injure or kill themselves, Glendora Mountain Road is famous for skateboarders coming down at very high rates of speed, zipping around curves and going around slower vehicle traffic. If they crash they seem to roll, come to a stop, get right back up and get back on their boards if they can find them. :) What CRAZY! fun.
I don't mind people doing stupid things like riding skateboards down a mountain road meant for vehiclular traffic. It might lower the gene pool some.

@mobiltec These people don't kill themselves, not on skate boards. If they crash, they get right back up. :)

I think I will head up there this weekend since summer has come six months early.

@cosmicskydaddy1 Funny, isn't it? It's like we skipped Winter though I believe in 10 days we're getting rain.
I'll see if you post video if you're able to go. :)

Helluva view from up there.
So now I guess skateboarders will be the new road kill?
anmoose 2 months ago
@anmoose It's bizarre, they never kill themselves on skateboards, they crash, roll, and then get right back up. :)

I very much need to stop eating three times what I do, and exercise. Gods.
