About the other version, I'm listening to it right now ... it's different, but also beautiful, you're right, so no need to be sorry! I uploaded this one cuz I like Loreena McKennitt's music, but it's also true there are MANY singers out there that have performed this song.

I'll admit that Loreena McKennitt is an acquired taste, especially with the Eastern influence in some of her songs. But what you should say is that in "your opinion" the Carey version is better as not everyone is a Mariah Carey fan.

To me, it's in particular this Eastern influence that gives to Loreena's music a bit more of its magic feeling ...

I agree. Some of my favorite Loreena songs are Marco Polo, the Mystic's Dream, Prologue, Marakesh Night Market, the Mummer's Dance, the Mask and the Mirror, and similar. I wish I could find other similar songs. when I listen to these songs I feel transported to anohter land, another time and place, to the eastern world as it is in fiction.

You can't compare Mariah and Loreena, two totally different styles and to prefer one over the other only would serve to show your style preference, so as they say its like apples to oranges
