  • The best cartoon... how many remembers, OMG

  • 1985 was this from tv

  • Bill

    /watch?v=27oK_7tWUhk&feature=feedu

  • oh god,the nostalgia.I instantly regressed to my childhood house

  • I can listen to this over and over again.

  • @m2diggs Agree. I would listen to this over and never get tired of it.

  • @SuperFlashDriver almost depressing watching this knowing the shit they put out these days.

  • to all the good people, who worked on this piece of magic - bless you. you gave to millions of children some wonderful moments - indluding me, some 20 years ago. thank you!

  • @vonnegut33 Nice Post.

  • @uraniumdeath Because it speaks for every single one of us who enjoyed Gummi Bears and other shows of the era made by Disney

  • @vonnegut33 Excellent post to which I humbly second.

  • Thanks to the filthy cock sucking garbage of cartoons we have today - I HAVE STOPPED WATCHING TV ALTOGETHER!! Long live great cartoons of the 80's and 90's!!

  • @Marmalade000000 Indeed

  • @Marmalade000000 I know exactly how you feel...

  • when i listen 2 this im 8 years old again

  • To think that such an awesome cartoon was all thanks to a piece of candy.

  • What happen to the imagination. I think it died back in 98.

  • Garbage like 'Pokemon' saw to that, Gegray.

Gone went the days of making a cartoon just to tell a fantastic story when Pokemon and its marketing machine came along. Now, TV is about selling crappy merchandise while a TV franchise is hot.

Then we had Digimon, and the rest of that garbage.

For the record, I don't watch TV anymore. I just watch the shows I once liked. So much better.

  • @uraniumdeath Thank goodness for Netflix! Not to mention YouTube.

  • @uraniumdeath XL I love this too but I was born when pokemon came around. I love both and yes, I don't watch tv anymore. I'm a late 90's and early 2000's kid. So yeah, I'm basically in the garbage years.

  • @uraniumdeath

It died when the bullshit power rangers came out.

  • @jmjfanss August 28,1993 is when the Power Rangers debuted. I'm an 80's kid myself and I miss these cartoons. If I were a betting man, I'd challenge Disney, or any company for that manner, to come up with a good clean pen and paper cartoon like these using their imagination. I don't think they could do it.

  • @BuckWilliams17

the 1990's were the beginning of the downward spiral of cartoons in america.

  • @jmjfanss I can agree with that. The only good cartoons in the 90's were the one that were carry-overs from the 80's.

  • @uraniumdeath old pokemon was cool and all, but new pokemon just blows

  • @Gegray People so terrified of losing control, so afraid of offending another they stick with the 'tried and true' until they become repetitively redundant, which ends with offending people that value imagination.

@uraniumdeath I think those shows you mentioned are not the cause but byproducts of a world that puts more value on making a quick buck then rewarding fresh ideas that can only come through imagination.

I do agree though fantastic story telling is dying if not dead in shows today.

  • wow, back when quality entertainment meant something. My future Kids/if any could actually watch this alone without being supervised, and that is saying A LOT. I wish disney would go back to this kind of material sooooooooooooooooo much. I miss it so much.

  • GOOD GRACIOUS!!!! I NOW REALIZE WHERE THIS MUSIC CAME FROM!!! at times it echoed in my head I thought I was just making the music up!!! THANK U FOR HELPING ME REMEMBER!!!!!! UR THE BEST!!!!

  • @inuyashaslvr

    imagine that :-)

  • The more I listen to this awesome theme, the more pissed I am knowing that the old disney might never come back...might.

  • man i love that music. it sounds of music from the middelage. and it is around the middelage the bares live i think:D

  • I just cry while listening to this ;-) It reminds of my great childhood memories that passed so quickly, och. This, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Tale Spin, Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, Duck Tales and Winnie the Pooh are certainly my favorite cartoons!

  • What I like about this video is that it has the rare '85 Walt Disney television intro that sounds simluar to Sunbow's.

  • this song makes me want to cry because I remember when I was younger how cartoons shaped my childhood. now they have to some BS on tv.

  • i remember this from when disney channel was watchable and not all about recording artists and their stupid shows....

ps the jonas brothers can't act for their lives

  • i will never forget this cartoon!!!!!

  • Reminds me of Katrina and Sydney my old ex friends.

  • Skip Craig has been track reading for every disney TV cartoon!

  • @GameShowNetwork except not for nick tv cartoons wb tv cartoons and fox animated tv shows

  • @bronkle and also not for cartoon network tv shows and teletoon tv shows

  • @bronkle and not for big idea shows

  • @bronkle and not for pbs kids and pbs kids go shows

  • Didnt know at the time that this cartoon was based on a candy nevertheless enjoyed it a lot

  • Now I'm really glad that I recorded this on tape..

Damn I miss this show! D:

  • Janet Cummings... oh yeahh....baby...gummi juice

  • The 80s and early 90s had the best cartoons. Stuff now sucks.

  • the gummie bears had a cartoon.. u gata be fucking kiding me

  • It had nothing to do with a the sweets, though the title was inspired By the sweet.

The show was pretty darn good too..They made good stuff in the 90's.

  • And the '80's. This show lasted from 1985 to 1989 (I believe).

  • 1985 to 1991

  • It really had nothing to do with the candy.

  • Those production credits tell it all - why cartoons back in the 80s were the best.

  • Oh My God! This takes me way back! I love this!

  • this melody is very relaxing but for some reason creeps me out in a good way.

  • i think the feeling ur failing to describe is nostalgia...

  • I agree but the creepy feeling is from a documentary I saw about some kid with dawn syndrome who murderd people in easter europe and this melody just reminds me of that documentary.

  • Gummi Bears and Duck Tales is best tv-show i de 80´s

  • Both classics, but the best? Gummi Bears maybe, but can you actually remember what happened in any episode of Duck Tales? I know I can't... I'd personally swap it out with Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, or possibly Animaniacs. Oh wait, Animaniacs was in the '90s. Ah well.

  • Bah, I fail at Youtube. That was supposed to be a reply to christerhoglu55's post. Just thought of another one... Sonic Sat AM. Was that 80s or 90s? I dunno, I don't care. Awesome.

  • 90s

  • gi joe all day/ not too mention thundercats or he man

  • *sigh* nottin like the classic ending to a true classic cartoon...good times

  • damn shit ... i like this music and the melody arrangement!!! sounds adventure tv series show!!!

  • @izlamabad omg i was just thinking the same thing! is exquisite!

  • good times

  • tell me about it,the 80's &90's were golden.

  • yeah i didnt realize what i had until it was gone

  • coooooooooooool video.

  • very good music!!! overwhelming my mind and heart and feeling when i am listening this music.. i loved this kind of music like this.. makes me imagining...

  • Gummiberry juice sounds good around now.

  • Around 1992.

  • Brings me back to Sunday Mornings wen I was a kid..... Would watch it evry sunday morning when having breakfast B4 going 2 Church LOL

  • Classic....Even though i'm a 90's kid i feel like an 80's kid. Long live the 80's.

  • A Walt Disney original ... animated in Japan by Tokyo Movie Shinsha (just in case anyone wondered what TMS stood for).

  • Wait... You mean the Japanese drew the whole cartoon all the way long??? o_O

  • The creative aspects of the animation (storyboarding, character designs, and so on) would be done in the United States.

But, when all those creative aspects are settled, all that's left to do is to render the cels and film them, frame by frame. That would be done overseas, such as in Japan or South Korea, as a way to save costs over doing the same in the United States.

  • I had no idea. Doing the actual animation still sounds like half of the work you have to do on a cartoon... meaning this is pretty much half-made in Japan/South Korea.

    Wow. Thanks for this info.

  • Well, as far as I know.

It is possible that I may have certain details wrong.

  • Watcher: The storyboarding, designing, etc. are all done here, but the animation itself is done in Japan (well, today it's mostly Korea and Taiwan). It's a bit misleading to characterize it as just "the cels", although those were painted and shot overseas, too.

(American animators tried to organize a strike in 1982 to buck the overseas trend, but it backfired miserably.)

Incidentally, have you heard of that Adult Swim show "Superjail"? That's all done here. I don't know how they afford it.

  • I can understand why the strike backfired; it would just accelerate the trend by galvanizing the reasoning behind moving the work overseas.

As for "Superjail," pretty cool that that's done here (though, admittedly, I've never watched it).

As for costs, it likely may have been done by non-Union teams, especially if the end credits do not indicate an IATSE disclaimer.

  • i always feel at peace when i listen to the end credits.

  • This looks like the original ending from 1985 when the show was on NBC.

  • Gumíííííííííííííííííííídci, jóóóóóóóó´!!!!!!!!

  • the cartoons nowadays are crap!

  • Amen. I remember the ending of this like it was yesterday.

  • no doubt about it

  • BEst remembered as Rocky the Flying Squirrel.

  • I liked it I mis the old line up.

  • Oh my Katie Leigh my friend oplayed on Gummi Bears she is also Rowlf the Dog on Muppet Babies

  • You know Katie Leigh?

  • Yeah I send her emailsI'm really starting to become friends with her I really like the voice she gave Rowlf

  • I think I heard that Katie also played Dumbo's voice on the Disney Channel original "Dumbo's Circus".

  • Yeah she was Dumbo she also worked with Sesame Workshop when it was named CTW

  • amazing, i love this end<333

  • aww

  • huh!

  • Legal.

  • Video cassettes were cool

  • will ryan is the the giant and pete in the christmas carol and the new voice of rabbit on winnie the pooh

  • June Foray!? She was the original Rocky Squirrel and Granny from the old Bugs Bunny cartoons.

  • Foray's been turning up everywhere for over sixty years. It's hard to think of an American cartoon studio she hasn't worked for at some point.

(Another Disney job she had was as Magica De Spell and Ma Beagle in DuckTales)

  • Exactly, and also Grandma Fa in both "Mulan" movies, the teacher in "Frosty the Snowman", Jane Kangaroo in "Horton Hears a Who", Cindy Lou Who in the original "Grinch", Lucifer in "Cinderella", one of the mermaids from Mermaid Lagoon in "Peter Pan", and all kinds of other grrrrrrrreat things. She even used to teach at USC (Southern Cal.) Incredible, huh?

  • June Foray was the voice of the cat in "Cinderella"? I thought they used a studio cat.

  • June Foray was a voice actress for over 50 years, she started off in the 40s as a young radio actress(She used to date Paul Winchell)She retired in 1991 and is still alive and well.

  • Retired? She didn't retire. She's been active all through the last two decades. Far as I know, she's still working.

  • That's right she voices Granny in every appearence she made icluding Baby Looney Tunes

  • Really? I did not know that!

  • Notice some of the guys came from the whole DuckTales and CADRR crew then some of them went on to do TaleSpin!!!

  • For most of the Disney afternoon cartoons you will see the same names such as:

    Tad Stones

    Alan Zaslove

    Rich Harrison

    Karen Silva

    Ed Wexler

  • Some more:

    Mark Zaslove

    Alan Zaslove

    Bruce Talkington

    Olivia Miner

    Karl Guers

    Jan Strnad

    Jymn Magon

    LuAnn Wood

    Tom Ruzicka

  • Don't forget about Ed Wexler

  • I *always* noticed the name Skip Craig when I watch the credits for some reason. I just found that name so easy to remember and I seen him being credited in other Disney cartoons during that era too..

  • Personally, I always notice the name Will Ryan. He did a voice, the name of the character escapes me at the moment, but he was a voice actor in Disney's Mickey's Christmas Carol. Another one of my favorite things from childhood.

  • He did the voice of Pete in that. (Or rather, The Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come).

  • Thanks. If you'd like to watch this great cartoon again, its fanpop dot com under The Christmas Spot. Be patient cuz there are some Mickey shorts in the beginning, that particular cartoon starts about 20 mins into the video.

  • ann oliphant seems memorable to me..

  • Ann Oliphant, along with Bob Zamboni, Paro Hozumi, and Rich Harrison (and of course, Fred Wolf) sort of form this strange link between Murakami-Wolf-Swenson and Disney in the early years...

  • Ann Oliphant, along with Bob Zamboni, Paro Hozumi, and Rich Harrison (and of course, Fred Wolf) sort of form this strange link between Murakami-Wolf-Swenson and Disney in the early years...

  • wondering if anyone knows whats the last song named and where to listen it in better quality?

  • google, Gummadoon Tower of Sounds

  • shall do, thank you!

  • good music

  • As for the rest of it, you think Production Managers and Track Readers don't work hard? I'm sure Mr. Skip Craig earned his paycheck---since if notice, he was the track reader for ALL the Disney TV stuff in the '80s.

    Anyway...thanks fer postin' this. :)

  • Yeah; that has to be a thankless job and Skip goes back to the Rocky & Bullwinkle era to boot; so he is a real journey person if I ever saw one. Quite frankly; anyone who works in animation is a thankless job since most people only care about the celberities who voice the cartoons instead of the people who work in the trenches. It's easier to get credits for voice talents than it is for the crew. And that's not counting overseas animators which is worse.

  • David Block was also the animation supervisor on Winnie the Pooh--presumably this was because he was Disney's installed man at the Japanese studio TMS, which animated most of Disney's shows in the '80s. (you can see it mentioned on the last credit, instead of mentioning every individual animator--snap.)

  • "Legal crap no one cares about"? Ahem...how about the actual ARTISTS who created the goldurn thing in the first place? I always read cartoon credits, so a lot of these names are familiar to me. For instance, the director Arthur Vitello was later one of the main directors on "Taz-Mania". Jymn Magon was later the story supervisor for "TaleSpin". Bruce Talkington worked on almost all the Disney stuff in the late '80s.

  • I agree. I know this is entertainment and all; but really this is pretty much all the presitge they get since the payment isn't all that hot compared to the rest of the industry. If you want to see legal crap; see the back of the Disney DVD sets. That is legal crap. This is credits stuff and it's more fun to watch than legal crap.

  • When hearing that on NBC, you knew The Smurfs were next (except fot Breakfast @ Wimbledon).

  • What's up with the Walt Disney Pictures logo, it's supposed to be the Walt Disney Television logo, which looks like the Pictures logo.

  • I assume this is just before they decided that a seperate "Walt Disney Television" division was necessary.

  • They did the exact same thing with "The Wuzzles", very strange...

  • Not really. Wuzzles came out at the same time, 1985. They must not have decided just yet to name a seperate division "Walt Disney Television". Besides, the company had only just changed its name to Walt Disney Pictures after 60 years of being called Walt Disney Productions.

  • I actually saw an Italian ending to the show, uploaded by Vannux80 & it had the 1985 Walt Disney Pictures logo at the end, just like this 1, which means they did the same thing with that show, too.

  • Don't forget that the Walt Disney logo doesn't have the When You Wish Upon A Star music but instead had a synth theme. What gives?

  • Yeah, and here it had a "twinkling" music. Also, it would in many series be put at the end of the credits music.

  • Agreed.

I just hate tv period now. I miss these old cartoons.

  • hear the bass of the ending theme

  • Did you know that I came?

  • That was hawt...I came twice.

  • I came.

  • SECONDED ^

  • Except you, evidently. :)

  • All the music in this series are so beautiful! Wish it could start over again!
