God, I LOVE her. Her Lucia was absolutely incredible.

And I actually agree with you; I really love Netrebko as well, but her voice is just too heavy for Elvira [and most Italian opera in general except La Traviata, it would seem]

I agree- the only things that I have seen Netrebko do that I actually LIKE are traviata, figaro, and sonnambula; everything else is just WRONG

What a find of Massis doing this back in 1999!! I adore her -- as others have noted, she is one of the very best sopranos of our time. What a gorgeous voice! What a fabulous technique! What a thrilling musican!

NOW, this is singing!~ 4/5 ... I'd be hard pressed to think of any soprano I'd rather hear sing today. Thought about it, NO other! Her Lucia at the Met was exquisite!! She commands a great belcanto line and innate musicianship with which breathes life into every note she forms .. a lovely lady to boot. Thank goodness, the real thing still exists! BRAVA
