There are at least some promiscuous gay guys out there, but I wonder if their promiscuity is the result of being love-deprived. When society turns its back on you, and family and friends abandon you, you start to crave human contact more than other people.
@ddshane This is the root of the problem. People with low self-esteem need approval from somebody, the need to feel love and human contact. On the flip side being love-deprived(or at least feeling that way) leads to them feeling unlovable. They don't want to open up emotionally as one would in a monogamous relationship, they don't want what self-worth they have to be hurt further.

Promiscuity is not just among the gays, as so many have said. It is rampant thoughout our society. Kids need to learn self control and not be slaves to their sex organs. Sure, having sex is great way to pass the time at the very least. Still, sex is a highly bonding experience and when two people have sex so frovolously, it demeans and debases that powerful experience. It needs to be reserved for those who couples who are willing to share the burden and responsibility of the bond they create.
I think I am going to disagree with your last statement about how you "know for a fact that homosexual divorce rates would be lower." Yeah, maybe for a little while they would because you're finally able to get married. Personally I find the idea of gay relationships/marriage ridiculous. I mean i don't eat gay lunch or gay park my car do I? They are relationships the same as everyone else has, so why place a lable on it?

Another reason that Man B would get into a gay relationship, is simply because they want excitement in their lives, which I believe is wrong to do. Man A cannot be really blamed for his sexual orientation, since it is simply a reasonable need. Man B may or may not be "guilty" in moral terms. Man A, being a woman at heart, serves as the foundation of their partner, who is like a building that serves a purpose.
Man B, however, has more of a male mindset that is willing to lead, to make plans and have goals. Man B is may be with Man A because he has had something painful occur in his life, but fears rejection from a woman if he tries to talk to them about how they feel at the harsh moment in their lives. Instead of talking about it or getting into a relationship with a woman, Man B will probably feel more comfortable talking about it with another man, Man A, who will listen and support Man B.

You nailed it, gay men are, as I like to put it, walking playgrounds. At first anyway. I really dislike all the stereotypes, especially since I don't fall into most of them.
Thing is, adversity weeds out the people who aren't serious. So the fact that some gay people have to travel just to get married means they're less likely to not mean the "I do"s.
I don't think gay people are necessarily more or less prone to divorce than we are. Wait a decade; once you get spoiled on marriage like we did I think it'll be just as bad. Heteros could even benefit from minor marriage restrictions, IMO. Something intimidating; maybe a blood test? Fewer nightmarish divorces=good.
If it's wrong to associate homosexuality with only sexual practices, why don't we just refer to those two people of the same sex as "friends". Im a guy, and i have male friends obviously, i cannot be referred to as a homosexual simply because i'm SEXUALLY attracted to females..
When you say that the gay culture is very promiscuous...please speak for yourself, or gay men. As a lesbian nearing 50, I have had 3 long term relationships in my life. In fact, I have been married for 2 years (pre prop.8) after 10 years together, and most of my friends9lesbian couples) are in long term relationships. I think there's a big difference in terms of gay men and women...not that one is right and the other is wrong....just a different way most approach things.

@ddshane This is the root of the problem. People with low self-esteem need approval from somebody, the need to feel love and human contact. On the flip side being love-deprived(or at least feeling that way) leads to them feeling unlovable. They don't want to open up emotionally as one would in a monogamous relationship, they don't want what self-worth they have to be hurt further.
Equality and understanding from society is whats needed here. Sadly many LGBT's are damaged by life.

Promiscuity is not just among the gays, as so many have said. It is rampant thoughout our society. Kids need to learn self control and not be slaves to their sex organs. Sure, having sex is great way to pass the time at the very least. Still, sex is a highly bonding experience and when two people have sex so frovolously, it demeans and debases that powerful experience. It needs to be reserved for those who couples who are willing to share the burden and responsibility of the bond they create.

It's this segment of the gay population that make it difficult to convince the government to make gay marriage legal federally/nationwide instead of just a states rights issue. Another reason that Man B would get into a gay relationship, is simply because they want excitement in their lives, which I believe is wrong to do. Man A cannot be really blamed for his sexual orientation, since it is simply a reasonable need. Man B may or may not be "guilty" in moral terms. Man A, being a woman at heart, serves as the foundation of their partner, who is like a building that serves a purpose.

Despite your obsession with promiscuity, I think that a lot of what you say is true. Take away the social incentive and reward for stable relationships, and what should society expect? But as to promiscuity, consider how much of it is simply driven by testosterone? Straight men are just as horny as gay men, and would act out just as much as gay men if straight women would let them. In regards as to homosexuals being more promiscuous, we can equate this behavior to the fact that they can not have open and accepting relationships out in society so the way they connect with each other is in a no strings attached manner because mainstream society keeps the gay community at bay and vilified to such an extent that people can't be who they are born to be.

My husband and I have been together for coming up on 23 years, and we were only monogamous for the first six months. Non-monogamy isn't cheating if the "rules" of your relationship allow for it. "Promiscuous" is a fairly useless word, How do you define it? From whose point of view? Is it number of sexual encounters? How can it be when the healthy number of encounters for one person is unhealthy for another. How about the nature of those encounters? Are they affirming? Are the self-destructive?

I think Hollywood should make more movies with gay themes, or gay ideas, in order to sway public opinion towards acceptance, and not condemnation. For decades any theme dealing with gayness was condemned and ended in tragedy. We must reverse that trend and gain a better public image.

Again generally speaking, ALL men tend to compartmentalize their desire for and activities of sex from their emotions, in contrast to women who, again generally, have their sexual desires somewhat more intertwined with their emotions. This is a generalized statement but I think the underlying factor is that you have certain dynamics that play out between people of opposite genders that are a little different from the dynamics between same genders. On all levels and there seems to be a kind of intensifying of those dynamics when it's entirely male or female simply because there's more inherent understanding of the others psyche. Plus we gay men sorta compartmentalize sex from our emotions. Sex 4 love-casual-rebound-friendship.

Thing is, adversity weeds out the people who aren't serious. So the fact that some gay people have to travel just to get married means they're less likely to not mean the "I do"s.
I don't think gay people are necessarily more or less prone to divorce than we are. Wait a decade; once you get spoiled on marriage like we did I think it'll be just as bad. Heteros could even benefit from minor marriage restrictions, IMO. Something intimidating; maybe a blood test? Fewer nightmarish divorces=good.

In fact, I have been married for 2 years (pre prop.8) after 10 years together, and most of my friends9lesbian couples) are in long term relationships. I think there's a big difference in terms of gay men and women...not that one is right and the other is wrong....just a different way most approach things.

I don't think the promiscuity has anything to do with going out at night orhaving to wait until adulthood to havesex. It is more likely having to do with being male...the drive to spread genes. Except in this case, the genes are being spread, but not fulfilling their function.
