This great diviersity Obama talks about in the US is only recently aquired. And we are having more trouble by being culturally diverse than we ever did before we were that way.

let us look at it this way. Boeing cannot sell enough planes in the US to continue in business. Of all planes Boeing sell, 90% are sold to international airlines. Bill gates is rich because 95% of computers in the WORLD not USA use windows. COCA COLA is a rich company because it sells its products in almost all countries in the world. a CEO is paid to make profits if he can make a computer cheaper in CHINA to save money he will do it.If you own stock then you understand what i mean.

US does not have all the resources it need to live on its own. The gas in your car most likely comes from Saudi Arabia. Boeing assembles it's planes with parts from 35 countries. American's do not want to be farmers. Most go to school to work in air conditioned offices but they still have to eat. So Walmart has to import these food to feed the American people. It's IMPOSSIBLE to grow USA from within. 30 years ago it was possible

The fact that President Obama comes from such a diverse family I feel makes him uniquely qualified to deal with alot of world issues that alot of others couldn't. While other people come from families that are all from the same backround President Obama enjoys the diversity in his family. This is a good thing.

I do not think that question about Taiwan was coming from a real Taiwanese. China always opposes America selling weapons to Taiwan and says it elevates the tension between Taiwan & China, but everyone should understand, the reason America sells weapons to Taiwan is because China has many missiles aiming at Taiwan and the numbers of missiles increases each year, so do not say America is trying to elevate the tension, actually China is the one elevate the tension between Taiwan & China.

@fumiohuang there are many people in taiwan who are what "real taiwanese" call "wai sheng ren" which means "outside province people" who follow the ROC to taiwan and are ROC citizens. the argument that they are not "real taiwanese" is like the argument sarah palin made about "real american"... then there is also the "native" which has little say since their population is small... when you think about it, the world is not that homogeneous... taiwan is still the republic of china...

There was a time when US consumers spend so much to keep American companies growing, today most if not all Fortune 500 companies get more profits from international markets. US cannot afford to run around like a lone ranger. Good relation are A must especially when china is our greatest lender

I don't agree. We got into this mess by pushing our economy to it's limit. It's called "Sustainability". We are now trying to keep the runaway train of the economy going while the track is crumbling at the wheels.

We need to scale back, decrease population via ending immigration entirely, and sustain our economy from the inside.

We are going to be at the mercy of whatever outside country we depend on, like China. And China would like nothing better than to see us fail.

you are righjt about one thing. We go into this mess. If US has to change then it has to pay it's debt and increase research. US is a superpower because they spend more money on research than any other country. Just like you need a woman/friends and relatives in your life. Today, Countries need each other. US needs money to spend and china lends it to them. IF they don't do that US can't pay it's bills.
