is not god the digital panels!when the car is stoped those leds keep showing the instrument panels and other indicators, the analogic have only a very smal tension (MINIMUM) at that time! and even when moving, the induction of current in the analogic needles is unsignificant comparing to all the digital panel! its cooler but not more economical
Open wheel wells, no boat tail, no belly pan = unaerodynamic automobile.
I'm appalled by the failure to use LiFePO4 batteries as insulation/noise dampening/cushioning to save space in the vehicle. There is no good reason to keep as square a box around the battery as possible.
It's pretty far from deserving to be called unaerodynamic. It's no Aptera of course but at least it fits in with the common man's need for some utility, but closed wheel wells would be nice to see.
Oh and the batteries are liquid cooled/heated so it's best they be in a container of some type. The li-ion batteries are more efficient this way. Have you SEEN the price of LiFePO batteries!? Their limited availability wouldn't coexist well with full production either.
Could be due to Fords substantial remaining stake in Aston Martin and being designed and engineered in the U.K., what ever it may be, North America finally has an answer for the dominant Honda Civic.
Does anyone know if the big car makers or anyone is going to make car trailers to hold more batteries to extend the distance. And why can Telsa make a Tesla Model S that can go 300 miles and much faster than the big guys? I know they cost more, buts that's because they cant make millions of them.
@DBSpy1 A large portion of cost is battery. There is some truth that they make less and the price must be higher. But you underestimate the cost of large scale lithium ion batteries. So why can Tesla make a car that goes further? It is quite simply because the battery is larger
So, If i slap a roof rack on this. and two 400 watt DC solar panels with a charge controller... would it extend the vehicles range.... Would be nice to be constantly charging while driving and or parked. Never have to worry about plugging it in unless I drain the battery completely dry. I commute 80 miles a day which is why I ask since a 100 mile range is cutting it close.
@renardthatch It would unfortunately do not very much in terms of range. Motor has peak power of about 90 kW, and 2 400 W panels will produce maximum 0.8kW. So you will deplete the battery much faster than you can charge it.
Man, I love my Fusion Hybrid.....but this car looks to be the shit. I honestly don't know if I should trade in my car for this. Also, because I got the most expensive Fusion minus the asinine leather, I could get some serious cash back. Probably enough to pay off the car; I wouldn't have the Navi though......I love my navi.
could be my next car & I like it because it is American (which is all I buy) & doesn't look like crap like the Leaf & will hopefully be cheaper then the Volt but you still need a gas car these days. I'd like an electric car that I can use for local driving & my 08 Avenger for long distance driving.
has to be the best looking EV ive ever seen, and its a REAL car.. just electrified.. i hear it gets 100miles on a charge.. what a great step into the future of electric cars..
The front end of the Ford Focus EV looks great. Much better, in term of options and appearance, then the Nissan Leaf IMOP. Does anyone know how many KWs the electric motor is putting out?
